**Important Meeting for All UNT Alumni, Boosters and Fans**
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Wait. What? If somebody wants to remind me, I'll consider meandering up to Denton on Monday night, though I just can't see being welcome with open arms right now even though I had nothing to do with banners or 17 or any other public statements beyond difficulty in acquiring tickets. -
tl;dr everything at Iowa and Iowa St and Wisconsin is do it first class or don't do it at all. Iowa St. Assistant Terry Allen's son, Chase Allen, has committed to Iowa St. after Mac found him and recruited him to North Texas last summer. I've been part of a national championship, 20, 21 bowl wins. It's been an amazing journey uh ride for me. We won the first bowl game for Iowa St. in 100 years. People constantly sell you short. You can respond to that and succeed. Content if he doesn't get back in to coaching. My most enjoyable years of 45 years of coaching were spent at Iowa St.

Oops. Wrong thread/ -
It's the vig, the money the house takes on the bets. It's usually about 10%, so if you want to bet $10, you have to pay $11. If you win, you get your $11, plus the $10 from the loser. The loser paid $11. You got $10 in your winning bet, the house got $1. This is why Vegas tries to set odds to get as close to 50/50 betting each side as possible to make the biggest profit possible. If you pay $11 for a $10 bet, and you push, you get your entire $11 back and the house makes nothing. So on an over/under bet that doesn't end in .5, I'm not sure, but I think you can push at 2, in which case the house makes nothing from anybody. So it surprises me to see so many win totals in CUSA that have that possibility, although I may have the rules of winning vs. pushing in over/unders mistaken.

There is no way in hell I'm giving forty five minutes of my life to hear about Iowa and big ass rings.

The ongoing, refuse to die sentiment that players, coaches, athletic directors, towel boys, one night stands, future ex-wives, and livestock must all "be from here" still confounds me to no end. Yes. Business is done a bit differently in Texas than other places, but it's not some Gordian knot that only somebody born with a rodeo belt buckle could ever comprehend.

DRC: Dickenson the right person for UNT’s athletic director
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah, I had to look her up, found out the same thing. So what I get from the article is that Denton must always look inward never outward mentality. There are some benefits to that for the tight-knit community that Denton is, but this is not one of those situations. At least she's just cheer leading for a local rather than trying to engage in a public campaign with a thinly veiled intent of keeping herself employed. I therefore harbor no ill will toward her.- 75 replies

MGB: Follow-up thoughts on UNT scheduling FCS opponents
oldguystudent replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This upcoming season is going to suck. A lot. But there's a whole new horizon out there after. I went through my kill everybody and burn the landscape to the ground phase during the Teflon Todd years, who I still wouldn't piss on were he on fire. But he's gone. And so is the most recent antagonist in this ongoing story of futility. I went from angry to numb. I hope to some day progress to excited. But really, leave the angry thing behind. It doesn't do anybody any good no how. -
MGB: Follow-up thoughts on UNT scheduling FCS opponents

Hell, while in provisional status, South Alabama played nothing but HIGH SCHOOLS in its first year. Its second year, it played high schools and community colleges. Then it played FCS. When they finally got up to FBS status, they didn't suffer near the smackdown that WKU did its first few years. There might be something to building a winning mentality. But if we are gonna go that route, we really need to consider that playing semi-pros in the SEC breaks that winning mentality right the hell back down. -

No offense to the lab band, but I ain't sticking around after a sporting event to watching them play soothing jazz off sheet music, then call for their own encore (*cough*looking at you jazzfest director dude*cough*). For post game concerts, get whoever's out on the senior circuit playing state fairs. Recent state fair examples would be Blondie, Kool and the Gang, and the one and a half surviving members of the Beach Boys. Safe, Family Friendly party music for the middle aged set with wallets. But besides post game stuff, I'm thinking stuff like Edgefest and Jimmy Buffet, both long time residents of the smaller stadium in Frisco. (It was Pizza Hut Park. What is it now? Stepford Stadium?). Apogee should be more than capable of hosting something like that, and should consider seeking such things out. -

It's amazing to me that neither the super pit nor Apogee are ever used for concerts, especially with both having beer sales now. I'm gonna guess that's on UNT, not the AD, especially in the super pit. -

So he's coming to town with a couple big ass rings? How's he feel about throwing up some concrete bleachers? -

MGB: UNT future football schedules update
oldguystudent replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
First of all, she doesn't know it yet, but Kristen Ritter is so much my next ex-wife. As for this scheduling, pros: six home games for the foreseeable future. cons: I really thought we were done with this FCS stuff after 2019 and Mac's departure. This is indeed disheartening. Not just FCS, but bottom of the barrel FCS. Not gonna do much for us in strength of schedule issues should we ever start winning games and looking for bowl invitations. -
Tell me, and be honest. If I had blood drawn and it read .12, would a grand jury give one iota of a shit about video evidence given that I'm not a state championship winning football player? Also, I have zero understanding of what a grand jury is, or how they get called in to things, but doesn't a DWI generally go straight to arraignment and plea or trial in county court? How do you get the grand jury involved? Edit: It appears the grand jury gets involved because this was a felony charge, not misdemeanor. Is that correct?

I think of Memphis as dry rub, not that St. Louis ketchup crap.

Man, it's more difficult for two men in Texas to agree on BBQ than it is for them to agree on uniforms and helmet stickers. My downfall is that I'm a Memphis ribs kind of guy, never have been much one for brisket, so I'm kinda screwed in Texas.

My beautifully rendered map is thwarted once again as it has 12 in the east and 11 in the west without Coastal. Gotta move one more team west. Southern Alabama?

Totally forgot about UAB. I was going by last year's standings to get my team pool. GA St. I just flat out missed.
