We tailgate in the Red lot, so we were a good ways from the Hill. We couldn't even hear the sirens for the buses.
-
I noticed the mispronunciation too, but I thought it was all part of the psychology of the game. My only (slight) frustration was that I thought the Mean Green march was supposed to start at 4:00. We left our tailgate at 3:45 to start heading over, and when we arrived at 3:50, it was to see the last few coaches walking by. I understand timing is challenging, but maybe a few announcements over a loud speaker or two to let everyone know they need to start moving towards the march a little earlier? Maybe make the announcement when the players load up on the bus to head over. Again, not a huge issue, but I was hoping to get to see all the players as they walked in.

That has to do with marching and drill. If you wear white socks and shoes, then it's really easy to tell when people are out of step or slightly out of alignment (if you're way out, nothing can save you). A lot of bands wear black to make it a little less obvious. Once they wear their full uniforms, you won't notice the socks at all. I thought the band did a fantastic job on their halftime performance last night. They weren't as loud in the stands as I expected them to be (we were sitting nearly across from them), but I think that might be attributed to overall crowd noise. I had a former Clemson alum and band member with us, and he was absolutely blown away by their sound. He bought a NT hat and shirt last night, and his 7th grade son said it was the "best Saturday of his life". They're now talking about getting tickets for more games this year.

Don't forget the no call at the end where a UH player was walking on the field while we were at the opposite end. Officials didn't cause us to lose this game, but I really think it would have been a bit closer had the play calling been at least neutral.
-
In addition to "No Re-entry" on our tickets, we were individually told by an attendant as we walked in. There were also signs posted near our gate saying the same thing. Not sure what else they should do, unless you think TV should.call everyone personally to let them know.

Eric Capper Tweets on UNT Student Ticket Sales
untgirl04 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I was a student back in the Dickey glory days. I would have loved a ticket to save from several of those games. Besides, entrance is still free, so it's not that big a deal to get a ticket early. -
See if you can get one of those small Mean Green car decals. Hot glue a pin to the back and get out your Bedazzler and there you go.

Has given up 34 points to Baylor in the first half.

Did the announcers really just talk about FIU in the context of a BCS berth?
-
The letter enclosed with the license plate says that this is the 2011-12 gift. On the bright side, it also says that the Mean Green Club has over 900 members.

So where is Beerman setting up? I want to be as far away from that noise as possible.

Because Beth Marie's is already sold out. It's prior planning by the AD to make sure there's plenty of ice cream for the games.

I know single game tickets don't go on sale to the general public until August 15, but I have some coworkers who are interested in attending some games and were wondering about pricing. I was trying to look up the information on the MGS Web site, but they don't have single game prices up yet. Does anyone happen to know what the prices will be?

I can live without the funnel cakes, but what about the kettle corn?

July 16 - Need some recent grads or young fans
untgirl04 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, they want young fans, so I wouldn't sweat it. :-) Besides, I don't ever recall you painting up for games. -
When I was in school, Coach Leonard and a few players would come to each residence hall to promote games. JJ would do Q&A sessions formally, but he'd stop and talk to any students. It's been a little while since I've been in school, but I can't imagine that's changed much.

No, the net must have a giant SOW logo on it. Otherwise we look like a high school. Oh, and the net has to be green.

I don't think the fact we're undersized is the revelation, but by exactly how much. Yes, half the people on the board realized we were undersized but until you have an exact number, you can't develop a successful plan to fix it. The numbers are part of that process. It provides more transparency to the players and gives them specific targets. In any business environment this would be due diligence. I think the real question is why didn't previous coaches do this?

Maybe I'm easily amused, but I like the chicken toss. Cracks me up every time.

But on the positive side (we also watched on ESPN3), the NT crowd sounded awesome and I could see quite a few clumps of green in the stands. Definitely a nice turnout for the guys - thanks to everyone who was able to make the trip. Cheer really loud tonight for those of us stuck at home!

It's a new day, so maybe this still applies, but thought you'd want to know that Crumley is the all girls hall now.
-
Do we know he was told he can't fight for the QB position and that's what made him decide to leave? I wish him the best of luck, and wish he'd stuck around, but at the same time, I wish he would have finished his career here. He's a fighter and a playmaker regardless of the position he plays.

Just please, no Phil Collins in the new stadium.... EVER.
-
Please, no more logo changes, and no more color changes. The university has worked very hard to market everything with this new green and the new logo. I really like the new logo, and it's nice to see consistency throughout the entire campus. Besides, they put the SOW in brick in front of the Administration building, so it's going to be there for a while. In terms of script on the helmet, RV has stated multiple times his reasoning for it, and since he hasn't budged in 10 years, I don't think he's going to budge now. Just give it up. Also, I like black used lightly as trim around the green - really makes it pop.

Yeah, that doesn't really excite me. If WKU had the best defense in the conference, it probably still wouldn't excite me that much, but why bring in the defensive guy from one of the worst teams in the conference? Since Mac is a defensive guy, I'll just have to hope he plans to whip this guy into shape.
