The competition.

I couldn't find a thread worth reading or following so I started my own. Do you guys think the UNT football program is headed in the right direction given the changes made over the last 2 or 3 years?

At this point I'd like to just close my eyes and wake up when it's all over.

I've got to say I'm impressed you even attempted a game with the baby. I remember those days and the last thing I would've wanted to do was take the baby to a game. I'm sorry your experience wasn't great but kudos for the effort. I think my wife and I would've just had to take turns going to the game.

How many times are we to try and organize the 'north... texas...' chant on a message board? Put me in the group of people who have always hated this. It really annoyed me to sit behind the Talons while I was a student and be forced to listen to the 'high pitched beep' for every penalty.

Things like the stadium don't always happen the first try. RV may have made a mistake in his first attempt but he didn't run away from the idea or throw his hands in the air and say 'this isn't possible here.' Instead he went with 'Why not North Texas?' and the rest is history. I'm sick of people acting like armchair ADs.

Can we all agree they are making a significant effort towards creating a 'real' football program while at the same time understanding we're not there yet and have to operate a little differently? While I'm frustrated with the on the field decisions at times I couldn't be more pleased with everything else.

My bad bleedgreen. Yes, it was a sarcastic comment similar to serious posts you find littered all over this message board following the kickoff time change. I will be there Saturday. Would've come to the game regardless. We have such few home games each year I really don't understand why there has to be so much fuss over everything all the time. Just enjoy jumping on the dog pile or fighting one off from time to time.

I think the time change has less to do with the Rangers and more to do with our team performing so well last week at that same kickoff time. Got to keep this win streak alive.

I'm going to need RV to call and personally ask me to come in order to show up to this game. Otherwise, I'll be gearing up for the WS.

I wish I had time to go back and find all the posters wanting RV to 'lock the gate' and hire Chico for HC, compare that to those whining about his play calling and demanding him be replaced already, find the matches, and send you all PM's that read 'Shut up.' I'm on record as taking the refusal to accept excuses stance but my frustrations don't include wanting our staff replaced. I believe we have a great staff in place and I'm fine letting them go through a few bumps along the way. I'm also fine with complaining through those bumps but those that wanted the man as HC 10 months ago and now want him fired need to do just as my ghost PM says.

Did we 2006 Mavs parade this ALCS series by even asking about a possible change? I'm worried.

I don't like trying to create a rivalry with SMU simply because there will never be a mutual respect. I think what makes a good rivalry is dislike AND respect. They will always view us as inferior and never a rival.

Agreed. Tulsa would be a very nice rival. Doesn't have to be 'in state.'

If we beat Ulala I think it goes a long way towards restoring our image in the Belt as a team to beat, creates excitement on campus of a possible coming bowl game, and gives the players confidence that we can win this thing. Huge game in my opinion.

No real reason to even entertain the idea yet. Purely message board talk. But if message board talk gives you a hard silly willy why don't you visit the I'm just sayin' thread in the HOF forum and enjoy.

I'm hoping most on this board would choose UNT over the Rangers. Student/Casual fan attendance will be very low as it is because of all the events mentioned so we'll need our hard core fans to show up. The point of my original post was simply a fear that it may look ugly on Saturday.

I thought about that option but then I wonder how strange that would be for the players. Right or wrong, I think the answer to this is yes.
