Administrators, faculty/staff, students, alumni, family and fans now can leave their mark at the new FIU Stadium and show their support for years to come. For $125, everyone can purchase a personalized 4”x 8” brick custom-engraved with their name, family’s name or a special blue-and-gold memory. “This is a great opportunity for everyone to take ownership of our new stadium and FIU Athletics,” said Athletic Director Pete Garcia. “The bricks will literally pave the way to the new stadium while contributing to all FIU Athletics programs through generous donations to the Athletic Association.” The bricks will be placed around the concourse level around FIU Stadium for all to see. Each brick will be a permanent part of the university’s future starting with the first game in the new stadium, scheduled for Sept. 20, which will see the Golden Panthers face off against the University of South Florida. Sorry for seeming like I was coming down on the reporter. I have a BA in Communication and Masters in Journalism. In my eyes it was a poor attempt to do research. Maybe she got this assignment last minute or something. But even reading the comments on the NT Daily website - it is obvious there are people"for" and "against". Even a telephone call to 88.1 to dig more information or to the NT Daily to get info from people who have covered this would have given her insight to the the social networking sites. Also a call to the SGA office would have helped?! Just my thoughts. But I am glad it was caught and cleared up.

She had to have a connection through UNT. Why would you do that? Bring your school down?

No they are not the channel 8 of radio - and kids don't listen to WBAP. Wonder who her connection was from the University?

What about the signs? Were they located in good spots?

Do you think it will be a close vote? Anybody experience anything worth talking about?

I think we should come up with a plan and then invite all the facebook fans - huge party!

I suppose you will do that on the 50 yard line and down one in the end zone. Good plan.

This election the student body will be presented with quite possibly the most important vote in the university's history. It is crucial that students take the time to study the issue and make an informed decision about this monumental vote. For the referendum to be passed a simple majority must agree to the proposal. Results cannot be announced until 24 hours after polling closes on Friday October 17 at 5 PM. The following is the official referendum that will be on the election ballot: "In order for the University of North Texas to have a better Athletic program, which in turn can lead to national exposure and increased recognition of UNT; I agree to a dedicated Athletic Fee not to exceed $10 per semester credit hour, capped at 15 hours. Once the Athletic Fee is implemented, the Student Service Fee will be reduced by $3 per semester credit hour. The Athletic Fee shall not be implemented until the semester the new football stadium is complete, which is expected to be fall 2011."

I went to the Facebook site - hoping we would have broken 2,000. What I have noticed is that yesterday we were at 1992 and today we are at 1988. I think we will win this campaign, but I am sure we have lost a couple becuase of the loss and some people don't see the big picture...
