Nope. Don't want to be like UTA. But that is choice. Gonzaga certainly isn't and they had to start somewhere. They were not Gonzaga when they started. I am fine with keeping football for those who can't get past getting rid of it, but just move most of the money over to basketball were we actually win consistently. When Hodge leaves, three of the last 4 basketball coaches will have been hired away. When was the last time that happened in football?

Well you know that is not happening here. But I suspect if Hodge is hired away, it will be far more than 1 million a season.

How much do you think we would have to pay him to keep him? My guess is it's more than what we pay our football coach.

Just how many are we talking? SURELY there is a place SOMEWHERE on campus that could host that many people. Been this way for 50+ years.

doubtful. I don't think UNT has ever sold any major athletic event out. I am blown away at how loud the Super Pit gets at times with half full. I would love to see that place sold out, but doubt I ever see it.

Ah good point. You are right. I just don't understand why this is happening again - I am fairly sure this has happened one of the previous years we were in the NIT. Is there not a nice place at the top of the football press area that could host it? How is it that those of who don't work in Athletics can figure out a solution but no one at the University can again?

You certainly don't see this at big time schools or schools that are serious about athletics. We just pretend. Such a UNT thing.

We might be the only D1 school who has to rent their own basketball arena.

Bingo. But will never happen here as I have been told over and over that football is our bread and butter.
