Well first off, I was mad when we lost obvious wins for our program, I think everybody here believes that Dickey can do a better job at coaching and wining games...This season has been a real learning experience for me as I step aside and evaluated all aspects of the ball... 1. DD was the real reason for our turnaround back in 2001 and he gave us some good football. 2. I think his coordinators are screwing us over, more so than Dickey..especially Etheridge, the OL coach...I believe that all asst coaches should be terminated. 3. I feel bad for any human being that has had three major medical setbacks and has the will to recover from them enough to get the pink slip, days later..... 4. I realized this mid-way through the season....OUR PLAYERS ARE THE REASON WE SUCK.....THEY SUCK.....IN OUR EARLY PRACTICES THE GREEN TEAM BEAT THE WHITE TEAM, AND IN OUR GAMES THIS SEASON... THE SAME EXISTED....OUR BACKUPS PLAYED THEIR HEARTS OUT AND DESERVED TO BE OUT THEIR MORE THAN OUR STARTERS My biggest fear is that we get a coach in here that doesnt know what is going on and flounders our program for years without any return.. We did get a return from Dickey but he lost coaches, players, and recruits towards the end

He would still remember those words of advice and wisdom... No coach can save jamario the numbers speak loud... He might have some off-field distractions that might be a problem

The tech game should have been a win, if he just let the green team stay shit im going to say it the green should have played the enitre season.. we would still be in the hunt for a bowl game....who cares about a SBC title we all want a bowl game

Thats what I am most worried about....I dont want to get a coach here that doesnt what he is doing...Waste our time and atttempt to build a program that never got off the ground... Dickey got it off the ground and built that program....It went away shortly thereafter

Let's please at least remember how Dickey rose through the times and brought much needed success at a time of need. Im tired of these attacks on a person who sacrificed his health, family, and dignity for the success of our program. He architected the greatest college football comeback in D-1 history. It wasnt just one game where we were underdogs in, but 5 of them....0-5 to a bowl game. He not only coached the team, but also found time to forge friendships with big donors and shared his ideas or visions for the future. Dickey was the main reason the AC was built, he shared that vision to Mattrees Mac and his $1 million donation created this vision. Now we lost a HUUUUUUUUGE donor, I dont care what anyone says, this person was not just a one-time gift giver, he is the type of donor that any college would kill to have. He is pissed because of the circumstances behind the Dickey fire, he has sound reasons. Beisdes Dickey's 4 championships, he display great courage during the Andrew Smith tragedy and gave the team, fans, and coaches the opportunity to grieve and yet still be optimistic. He followed through on that with winning another SBC title and a trip to the NO Bowl that year and the year after.... Thats not easy you guys...Andrew was our star QB and our new rising player. Dickey has endured alot of personal hardships recently and has tried his best not to let it interfere. It is very unfortunate that he was canned a few weeks after suffering a near fatal heart attack and after going through open heart surgery. I really cant say anymore...Sooooo I will let the personal attacks on myself and not my actual post begin....

Great post Harry.....you mentioned all the greatness that we have accomplished with all odds against us... Great Job Coach Dickey for accomplishing what NO ONE ELSE EVER DID AT THIS UNIVERSITY....

I saw that same interview rick...the rutgers coach had a good theory to teach to his kids....Each coach is different in what they bring to each team, and how they deliver that message is even more important.

I only hope we dont hire a Southern Miss guy here at UNT for the sole reason that RV has another friend here in Denton to kick it with.... This is a huge opportunity to bring in a big name coach, if the BOR can offer a great package to a prospective coach.. Why not have the AD seek out a coach and go shop for one, instead of waiting in the office to see what 3A or 4A HS coach faxes their resume for the job. I am very afraid we might just drop the ball on this one..... If we can capatilize on getting a big new coach here, which I believe ourchances to do so, dwindles with each day that passes.....Why not look at the entire front office at the UNT athletics center to see if we can make some noise and bring in big people to take on big jobs.... Hank Dickinson- Assoc AD----isnt he in charge of donors and fundrasing and going after big money for our much anticipated stadium....If this is the case than why is he still here, I know he is an alumni but we need to get the ball rolling. It hasnt since he's been here.....RV, UNT Football and GMG.com increased MGC memberships through the years

If you read that article you will find that I am furious over the stadium debacle that has occured at NT. I was sarcastic in saying that RV is not looking for another coach at that time, to distract him from the stadium issue. As far as RV, I believe he is a puppet more than ever...Everyone I talked to says that the new prez was the one who had the final say in the Dickey matter, and had enough of the losing. I do see the new Prez in a new light and respect her optimism to looking for bigger and brighter things for our future at NT. I believe that she will stay for the long haul here at NT... While we have come to known RV has applied for several lower tier AD jobs only to get turned down.

From what I heard from a close friend, Gary Barnett is doing his own AM radio show in the mornings.... Also that he is intersted in getting back to Div 1 football My first choice Gary Barnett.....its a win-win situation and heres why Barnett wants his players to enjoy their college experience with alcohol, drugs, and hookers....well in Denton we have fry street....problem solved, right? UNT needs a good EXPERIENCED COLLEGE FOOTBALL coach, well Big 12 coach of the year, made a Colorado into a powerhouse and will take NT out of the dump.. Gary Barnett for NT Head Football Coach and Pimp...... But seriously Barnett all the way....hope we get him.

Just a quick follow-up Anybody who discredits this post and says that Dickey was not successful at NT is a complete jack-ass.... He did alot in the conference we played in, we enjoyed greatly the opportunity to beat up on SBC opponents, Great Bowl Games, and also great players develop right before our eyes. He helped attract a great pool of talent....but in college football that talent goes on to better things... I told my brother who is an UT alum that Dickey got fired, he was saddened saying that was the best coach UNT has ever had since Hayden Fry....and also NT saw alot of success from him. He also went on to say that alot of coaches have alot of respect for him, I think that is why some media outlets are second-guessing the AD on this news. My girlfriend, an NT alum, said it best this evening, I hope who ever they get to replace him will take us as far as we went with the bowl games and such..... She doesnt care too much for football but even she got shocked and said she felt sorry for him. I always want whats best for my Mean Green, but I hope we do go on to bigger and brighter pastures....

Im actually saddened by the news in some way.... If you really think about it Dickey has done more for this program than any other coach in UNT history....You should definately be appaluded for that.... Dickey you lost your job, because you have terrible assistant coaches, terrible recent recruiting classes, lost the best players in UNT history recently, and had a bunch of jerks force you out of your office tenure.... RV, did not want to make this decision, he does not want to find time to look for your replacement and really didnt want to deal with this...He wasnt happy when he got interviewed today... Well good luck to you coach dickey, you and coach fry were my favorite coaches, when I approached you about the SMU game this year, I asked you to promise me we would win, you kept your promise. Thanks for a great memorable run, you gave me many great games to watch on T.V. and in person....Thanks alot and you will be successful where ever you go.... MEAN AND GREEN FOREVER.....Dont forget about us.....

I am playing in a tournament on campus for Ncaa football 2007 for XBOX and was wondering what you guys thought was the best team on there this year.... Also what team has the best defense and best passing game... The tourney starts this thursday... any help would be appreciated.... thanks...

Exactly it should be in Denton on the nice campus at UNT, I mean the Research Park is in North North Denton, far from campus..... With the Law School being in Dallas, we wont get those students to reside in Denton or even get their attendance at home games....of any sport

Actually we do..... They are building I believe with that one being mentioned, a totally of 4 new dorms...with all of that, from what I hear there is still a waiting list.... NT is growing, the athletics isnt

I totally agree James Mitchell was great out there and also in the A-state game two years ago....I watched that on t.v. and said wow NT just keeps producing great backs, you want to stay successul you have to play the best players in my opinion I would put Mitchell as our starter with the green team OL, with Phillips as QB I bet we win out if we do this....
