Wac Schools Face Loss Of 1a/ Fbs Status

The Ncaa is never going to enforce those in default. I mean they have cut so much slack for alot of team already, especially the SBC teams. I wouldnt mind FAU, FIU, La-Monroe, Lousiana Lafayette being taken off so we dont have to play them anymore. -
"I can't wait to see Gus and the boys perform" ha Should somebody tell them that fry street burned down and that the performance they are anticipating is probably in the parking lot of some random Dollar General store...

New Proposed Unt Football Stadium
UNT_playmaker replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
Actually I went to Denton-Ryan my freshman year than moved to Denton High because Denton-Ryan was operated like a prison, but the series between these two teams in football was moved to Fouts for a few years in the early 2000's but moved after DISD built the new 14,000 seat stadium. Also Denton-Ryan and Ennis played in Fouts as well as Denton-Ryan playing other high profile teams at the time as well as local area playoff action. Alot of the people who watch the Denton vs. Ryan games as well as the Ennis game said that Fouts was a horrible venue even for high school football games and other schools saw this as well and stopped using Fouts and now use the new DISD stadium for high school football playoff action. What is so great about a new stadium is we can generate alot of money from high school playoff games, concerts, and other sporting events to our university. There is so much potential in alot of different areas to compensate for this great investment -
New Proposed Unt Football Stadium

Piss Poor Management from the start..... NOTHING in regards to the project went well from the start. They lost the student election by a few votes, they lost and alienated donors by not telling people what was going on. The whole Stadium issue was very widely publicized and showed the students what they were voting for, but now nothing is being said and told to people to support this and get behind it... The failures that have resulted are as a result of their mismanagement, planning, and execution. We might need a direction to probably get this off the ground, I hate to say this but our best hope might be if RV goes somewhere else and we get a guy in here who can get it done the right way. I don't think RV is going anywhere anytime soon... -
New Proposed Unt Football Stadium

Fouts is by far the worst football stadium alot of us have ever entered, the distance from the stands to the field, the horid distance from the endzone seats to the field, and everything else... Makes it by far the worst of the worst. It should be used by high schools to as an example of what not to do in constructing a high school stadium. Denton ISD, was so fed up that they went and built there own stadium in 2 years and said goodbye Fouts, all the while our own football program still uses the same facility. Even 2a and 3a teams dont bother to use it anymore for their area playoff games. -
New Proposed Unt Football Stadium

What pisses me off the most is that we had this in our plans since 2000 and even started talk about a new stadium in the 70s. We are at 2008 and havent broken ground or basically seen a model and the costs seem to go up, up, up each month. With the way the dollar is going, gas prices, and construction cost, pretty soon we might not be able to afford a new stadium. -
If this team goes 3-7-2 This board will go into meltdown

Has anyone gone to the AD office and saw any plans or models that might exist and also talked to anyone in regards to any progress. -
New Proposed Unt Football Stadium
UNT_playmaker replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
Thank You! It does cost much more to add 5,000 seats to the initial cost of a 30,000 seat stadium, they have the land to make room for it. 10,000 more seats is huge for this program. TCU has 45,000 seats and 5,000 students..... An Amon Carter type stadium here at UNT should be our goal, and why not.. Don't we expect big things at this program or is it only the fans who expect this... -
On April 4, 2001, Rick Villaralleal was hired to the AD post among many other applicants based one major factor: FUNDRAISING He and his cronies from Southern Miss have failed in what he was hired to accomplish, which was fundraising. Stadium talk began the day he took over the AD post here at NT. This was to be his signature mark on the university. Back in 2002, he pushed for a student fee to be passed to renovate Fouts Field to be a two-tier stadium with box suites, and restaurant/lounge and it didnt pass. Since then we have been fed lies like little children during Christmas, We hear nothing from the Athletic Dept and no one relays any information towards any progress, if there is any towards the stadium issue. With all of this going on, Stadium debacle, turning down a baseball program after being offered in full by the Goldfields, being turned down by CUSA (TWICE), piss poor scheduling for Football I wouldn't care of RV finds a job elsewhere and we get an AD who can get things done with our Athletic Program once and for all.......

New Proposed Unt Football Stadium
UNT_playmaker replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
I think we have a better future than UCF.... UCF built there stadium that big to host opponents that can bring crowds. IT IS PROVEN THAT NT CAN BRING CROWDS: TULSA, SMU, TCU, TEXAS TECH, NAVY, BAYLOR..... Now dont tell me we can't BRING THE NOISE for realistic opponents we could host like K-state, O-state, a&m, or Colorado. We need at a stadium with at least 40,000 for anyone to look at us seriously to allow us to host them. I am sick and tired of playing these damn money games at their house and under there rules. Screw it... Let's turn the tables, this is our chance. We can eliminate these embarassing opening losses that affect our entire season year in and year out, ENOUGH.....Let's play against Mid-Majors, and the mid level Big 12 teams home or away, not #1 team or defending champion in the nation every year. Our new stadium (if we are getting one) will determine where this program goes, we need to do it right, to ensure immediate success...... -

For 6th Home Games - Schedule A 1aa Team ?
UNT_playmaker replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Who the &*%$ in the Athletic Department schedules a 1-AA game two days after Thanksgiving Day, especially after it was done a year earlier and it was a complete disaster. From what I heard 5,000 in attendance was more like 500. My friend and I were supposed to go, that day but I was recovering from the flu and couldn't go, he called me while I was listening to the radio to tell me he was on the student side and he had to look for people on the student side and the alum side had more people. I was pissed I couldn't go because it was an exciting game with the fights that occured throughout the game. -

The people who exist on this board are the core of NT football, we want to attract more fans who normally don't come to our games. -
New Proposed Unt Football Stadium
UNT_playmaker replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
50,000 students in 2012-2015 and a new mediocre stadium, with only 30,000 seats. If you are going to build a stadium you need to add to what already exists. Fouts was built in the 1950s and currently has 30,500 seats. We need to add to what we already have, 40,000 would be the magic number for our program. -
It really bothers me that after several decades of stadium talk the new proposed stadium is going to be set at 30,000 seats, yet expandable to 50,000 seats, whenever that happens. Is our athletic department not thinking big? Look at the possibilities A new conference, with in-state rivalries UNT becoming the metroplex's team Having an established top 25 program Hosting a large opening game against Tech, A&M, or O-state I think that anything less than 40,000 seats is completely ridiculous. If we have a better looking stadium, with better seats to see the action, more people will come. I have at least a dozen friends who are UNT alums who won't come because of Fouts Field, I can bribe about half to come to do tailgating and after halftime they leave. Without a doubt we can increase attendance with a better facility to host our opponents in and also attract better opponents than Nicholls State and SMU We have soooooo much potential with this program, but the problem is the Athletic Dept and how narrowed minded they have become throughout the years. If you are going to build it, build it right, you have the land, the visibility, and teams that will want to play in Denton, Texas because of being in the area to recruit and attract alums from the metroplex.
