I am so sick and tired of seeing all of the effort and time that has gone into people trying to get a new stadium for the future of NT Athletics just to settle for a new $60 million stadium that seats almost the same amount that Fouts can already seat. Which is about 31,000 people. The reason the new stadium is being built is for the following reasons: Recruiting, New Potential Donors, More home games, better opponents, rivalries, a better conference, potential site for large scale football games, and most important our own pride. After the students vote to allow their own fees to be raise for a better stadium than what we already have, let's give them a better stadium than what we already have. We need a new stadium that can seat at minimum 38,000 to 40,000. The reasons are facts: 50,000 students at UNT in just a few years, we need to be in a better conference, and to securing better opponents to play at our stadium. I mean who wouldnt want to play us knowing they can tap into the DFW market, have their alumni attend the game and get to play in nice stadium. When we have known opponents Fouts is near a sell-out each time, even when I team is mediocre. 32,000 isn't going to cut it, whatsoever. Your spending $60 million and it took 7 more years for a revote for the stadium, please tell HKS, RV, UNT admin, everyone who matters to look into adding an additional 5,000 - 8,000 seats to get these known opportunities. Please dont tell me that the stadium will be 35,000 seats or can be expanded because we know that it wont get expanded, build it right the first time and avoid the additional costs. Todd Dodge wants to build this team to be the team of the metroplex, give us the stadium to be able to compete on that level. If we are going to do this, let's do it right. Just like we did with the Super Pit. I feel very strongly about this and hope that whoever else does takes action to make sure we don't lose out on a great opportunity to change the plans that have been presented to us. I will email RV this statement and hope to hear back from him this time. I encourage others to do the same. Rick Villareal (940) 565-3646.........Rick.Villarreal@unt.edu

That is a great idea. I think T. Boone would be the likely donor as I dont think Gore likes sports. I think all of those T. Boone Pickens commercials are alot of B.S. and its so suspicious that they are running during an election year. After Nov. 4, we will probably never hear from him again. Wouldn't hurt for UNT to contact him and make him aware of our plans. Anything he could provide would be helpful.

I am impressed with Rice this season. We will be the underdogs for a reason, our offense, defense and special teams Rice - 42 NT- 17

I think FIU is alot better than they were last year and it will be a tough game for us. I think FIU has played all of their OOC opponents alot better than expected as we have done the opposite.

I am Delta Sigma Phi (Delta Sig) Alumni and I am still active in our fraternity and I know for a fact that everyone is on board for the stadium vote. I will talk with everyone such as actives and pledges to vote yes for new stadium the week of the stadium vote. We will have over 50 people voting yes.... I've basicaly told them that a new stadium is the bridgeway to where we want to our school to be in the future. Fouts looks worst than most of our old hs stadiums, and it would be great to have a new stadium to call our own for tailgating and to host big name opponents. Everyone is sold on the idea. No sign of RV, TD or Gretchen doing ANYTHING to get the frats and soroties on board. If they want to come to speak in our meetings please send me an PM and I will allow them to come speak at our meetings on Mondays. I think UNT_Flyer has done most of the work to get the stadium awareness out there for the students...

Actually I think the generator stories that are being said are true because I did see them in the stadium flyers and it would explain the Baylor game. I am still in shock that generators are used for a 30,500 seat stadium. Just goes to show how dire our need is for a new facility. I think when Fouts gets torn down their will be a large watching party. Also the Hurricane I predicted years back was a desperation move to see Fouts Field taken down by any force of mother nature. Because I knew it was not going to get torn down by any other means ( UNT admins ). Go Mean Green -

Stebo, Im actually laughing as I remember the push for green seats in the Super Pit, we had such a nice arena but those awful orange seats made it look longhorn friendly. Trilli wasnt a thrill as a coach up here but he did a great job with the campaign for new seats. -

If we missed out on hosting the LSU game at Fouts because of a couple of generators weren't working then this is the biggest debacle in UNT Athletics history. Also how come none of us knew that Fouts was running on a dozen or so generators. How pathetic is that. -

Too bad the water current didn't take him out to sea where he belongs -
Hey we beat the spread. I think LSU will have their hands full against Auburn next week.

Vizza was able to complete third down conversions because of the OL. The team was overmatched but played their hearts out and it showed on the field. Special Teams needs major improvements fast

They should have moved the game... I bet the SLU officials are worried now that their school is closed but they have a game tommorrow during the brunt of the storm. Hey Tropical Storm conditions can maybe help with turnovers so there you go. Denton is expected to have tropical storm winds and rains as well... They are calling for squalls to occurs in Denton on Saturday into Sunday.
-
Which ever way inland it hits will receive tropical storm force winds. Also the direction of the storm once it hits land will be hard to track as storm tend to go of course once they hit land. I think it might go more inland and then take that course, possibly hitting North Central Texas.
-
the path they have for the storm currently is way out of line, A cat 4 storm will not just hit the coastline and then veer off to the far east. It will go more inland and go north towards the DFW area likely.

It's not going to change anytime soon. Developers and Retailers are knocking on the door and they have gone elsewhere, look at Lewisville or Grapevine for instance. Sam's Club and Tom Thumb wanted to be in Denton before Lewisville and Denton stalled them, they went elsewhere. I guess the same is true for the stadium, it pisses me off so much that the donor funding was a complete failure and everything lies on the support of the students. Rick Villareal's job should lie on balance per the results of the stadium vote by the students. It should be held accountable for this debacle.....

The City of Denton can't even help themselves with their own projects. The city has never gotten behind the program much less a new stadium.... Look at these recent Denton failures: Rayzor Ranch ( supposed to built by 2008 and grass has over grown the dirt on the site without a tractor in sight, every single start-up date has never been met. Fry Street Village (huge eyesore across the street from UNT, would have been much better if they left the damn thing alone, they need to get a developer who will build bars and retail on the bottom and apts and lofts on the second and third floors) Unicorn Lake ( this project has been touted for years with plans for a large grocer (Tom Thumb) or health food store ( Whole Foods/ Central Market) and many other retail stores ( Kohls/Marshalls) and the entire project fell through. All they have on the property is the Pourhouse and a senior citizen center. Wait they are planning to build three new banks on the land development that all fell through after all of these years. I think the developers are the Sheltons, piss poor developing indeed. Goldne Triangle Mall ( plans for a $50 million renovation are on hold because all if not most of their tenants are moving out or not paying rent since they are all temporary stores owned by foreigners.) Oaktree Plaza Phase II ( this is a mega development behind the walmart superstore in denton and has never gone anywhere). Denton is the most profitable city in the metroplex and it is not seeing any development like Lewisville/ Flower Mound/ and Grapevine. What is going on in this city....

No definite word on the UH website where the game will be played but it should most definately be moved as the storm will be much bigger than what it is currently. Hurricane Ike looks to hit between Houston and Freeport this weekend, on Saturday to be exact and it will range between a Category 3 or 4 storm. It wouldnt suprised me if it was a Cat 4 storm as it has winds of 105mph and is churning slowly in the gulf. So this could provide enough time for the storm to be a major hurricane. What's weird with this storm is it looks to hit the Texas coast and go inward into Central Texas and then take I-35 into the metroplex. It isn't for certain what track the storm might take until after it hits landfall. Then it will slowly move as a TS and then a TD. If the storm does hit the North Central Texas Area then expect it to be a Tropical Depression that will dump 5-6 inches of rain and be a much slower moving system at that point. http://flhurricane.com/cyclone/stormspotli...008&storm=9

I have no doubts about Coach DeLoach he needs some better recruits to come in and then he can build his system around those recruits and what he has to work with. LSU and NT is the biggest mismatch on both teams schedule's. This game won't reflect on Coach Dodge, DeLoach or the players but the same IDIOT who seems to enjoy scheduling last years NCAA champions to compete against us each year. (i.e. past openers against Oklahoma, Texas and previously LSU in the past). The real question to you is why are you supporting a VP candidate who makes policy decisions based on old reruns of Dukes of Hazard episodes.

I'm starting to brace myself for the outcome of this game considering how good LSU is this season and how below-par we have played in the first two games. The K-state and Tulsa game was against a top 40 team and a mid-major. This week we are playing the SEC powerhouse that is LSU which is a top 5 team in Baton Rouge. I was hoping that the game was going to get canceled or moved to a friendly atmosphere but it is confirmed that the game is going to be played in front of 90,000 in Baton Rouge. K-State could have hung 80 or 90 points on us easily and Tulsa had almost 50 on us at Fouts at halftime. Im not even praying that it stays close but am hoping that we are not in the headlines for losing by the century mark. The entire game is in the hands of Les Miles and him allowing his Offensive Coordinator to play a fierce competitive game, if that is the case. Brace yourselfs
