Buffalo's Turner Gill.........coach Of The Year?
UNT_playmaker replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Gill definately has my vote. Congrats to him and Buffalo, feel bad for Ball State though, they had a great season and they are a better team than that loss. Also the City of Buffalo paid for their new stadium, does anyone think that can happen in the City of Denton, oh thats right the city takes for granted that UNT even puts Denton on the map.... City of Denton minus UNT equals the equivalent of the City of Decatur or Gainesville. -
We need every fan we can get.... Every single person who finds time to post and read posts about our school is entitled to their opinions on the board. He is frustrated, we all are frustrated, but we just got to hope things get better and fast.... This is the worst season in the football program's history, there will be frustration and people leaving the program, we need to persaude them to come back. I agree with him that the UNT adminstration hasn't done much to support athletics in recent years. Alot of people do see that, maybe it might be the reason we are in this mess.

This was sent to me this morning by a friend of mine who is in the Navy...I ireally liked what was said in it and knew that there were alot of people on the board who shared my feelings that Texas is a one of kind state that didnt deserve to be with states like Louisana, Mississippi, and others... Which state is always there to help the still corrupt state of Louisana and others when there is a major disaster. We never hesitate to open our doors and wallets. Texas would make a great country of its own and it did before...

THE COUNTRY OF TEXAS Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union . (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.) We Texans love y'all, but we'll probably have to take action since B. Hussein Obama won the election. We'll miss you too. Here is what can happen: #1: Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United States , Texas immediately secedes from the Union . #2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas ??? (Please, is this a joke?) So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic? 1. NASA is just south of Houston , Texas . We will control the space industry. 2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States . 3. Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term "Don't mess with Texas ," will take on a whole new meaning. 4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that. 5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need and it's too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry will have to figure out a way to keep them warm.... 6. Computer Industry - we currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications--small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Compu ter, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Miconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. 7. Medical Care - We have the largest research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas has some of the best hospitals in the United States . 8. We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of Texas , Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston , Baylor, UNT ( University of North Texas ), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway. 9. We have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the border when we need some more. 10. We have essential control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc. 11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers. 12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don't need any food. This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have. Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama: Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 9 mpg SUV. The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes. You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications. You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming. Signed, The People of Texas P.S. This is not a threatening letter - just a note to give you something to think about! SLEEP WELL TONIGHT THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU!! One Nation Under God

A Detailed Look At Where Unt Stands In Recruiting
UNT_playmaker replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I think the 1-11 record, the blowout losses, and the recuits not seeing any improvement in Dodge's second rebuilding year as major factors in their decisions. Especially the ones that are torn between our school and say another regional foe. I personally think that the quality and impact recruits we will be seeking will turn to another school because of those factors I listed above, I dont see us continuing to get the HS recruits who always wanted to play for Todd Dodge in HS here at UNT. I think JUCO's will be huge just because they can get in here and make a difference fast and have some experience. I disappointed that some of them have changed their minds or decided to not look at UNT whatsoever and that reason is based on what I feel is in alot of recruits mind when they see our football program. I still can't get the Rice game out of my head, when thinking about the 2008 season, surely a recruit hasn't either. -
A Detailed Look At Where Unt Stands In Recruiting
UNT_playmaker replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
He is the NT beat writer he knows more about the program than alot of other people. He is just stating the facts, it hurts, but it is the truth in reference to where this program is headed. -
I am right there with in wanting our program to be where it deserves to be. I mean 35,000 students, huge campus, and a hot bed for recruiting in the DFW market, we should be in a much better conference than the sun belt. But in the last two years we can't even argue to be in a better conference like we did in years past. As far as resources, we have new stadium to look forward to building to tell new recruits, athletic fee passage which enables for funds, the new Athletic Center and weight room matches that of bigger schools, and new practice fields that are not rec center fields. A few weeks ago after losing to MT you wanted change at the HC position, now that Dodge has miraculously kept his job, you think Dodge can turn things after posting a 1-11 record, I just don't see it... especially in the upcoming recruiting season.

Coaching/playing Experience !
UNT_playmaker replied to greenblooded43's topic in Mean Green Football
I can tell you that you ever made that decision to hand the ball on those plays didnt understand what you just said, thus they wouldnt have done it. I think the coaches dropped the ball on the season more than the players did..... In some regard I believe that not only are the players learning but the coaches are trying to learn right there with them. This is why I label this the Todd Dodge Coaching Experiment.... -
1-11 season and people on this board are saying that Dodge should still ride out his contract and we should look into giving him an extension..... What I don't understand is why does our AD give a five- year contract to Dodge right off the bat.... 3 year would be the more logicial option. I think RV thought that Dodge would turn it around right away and have some successful time at NT and five years would be beneficial from that standpoint.

Collegiate Bass Championship On Fsn
UNT_playmaker replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
I am shocked that UNT was in the tournament after all. I am also shocked that we did sooooo poorly especially having the national freakin championship at our home lake Even more shocked that this is the most popular thread of the day.... If we didnt have HS bass instructors we could have placed higher in the tourney... On a more serious note, are the two bass guys who represent UNT provided with funds from the Athletic Dept or Rec sports, very interesting to find out.... Way to go UNT for getting the name out there. -
Pretty interesting, never knew this existed..It on T.V. right now from 3 p.m. to 4p.m. It has nearly 48 colleges, can't tell if NT is in the tournament.... Thought I would give a heads up to the people who are at home today....

Western Kentucky has been a provisional D-1 school. Next Year they will officially be in the Sun Belt Conference as a Football member and full stadning as a D-1 school. They have been D-2 http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/cfsend.htm We are ranked #182...... lowest all season.... we are the lowest ranked D-1 program and passed up by the likes of Portland State and Coastal Carolina..... Anybody who is giving Dodge more time at this point, either doesn't care about the direction of our football program or is a Southlake alum....
-
We are ranked dead last at #119 out of #119. We are even ranked below some Division 2 schools and we really rank out in the mid #150's in college football. This has officially been the worst season on record at NT and Coach Dodge has only one Div 1 win after two full seasons. I can never remember a season when we got so much negative press. Even the local paper's beat writer, makes the coach and his program the butt of his jokes, calling them Sotuhlake North and etc. What is your definition of better? Also, do you really believe our program is headed in the right direction considering that we were a heartbeat away from a 0-12 season in his second year with his recruits and having better resources than the previous monster of a coach?

An Aggie fan making a cheap shot on Texas

Texas beat Oklahoma in a bowl game setting, which was the Cotton Bowl. Texas beat OU in a neutral field by two posessions.....by double digits.... Why is OU ranked ahead of Texas in the BCS???? Really????
-
Which AD in college football would sign a HS football coach to a five-year contract????? Seriously.... As far as Dodge's future he would never have a future in D-1 football after these past two seasons.... If Dodge loves Denton so much that he could be a coach at Denton High School, I think they had a 1-8 season.
-
The new supplement is quite nice.... I got one a few weeks ago, at the ticket office when I picked BB posters for myself and some friends so they wouldnt have an excuse not to show up to the games. I would call in to see if they have any leftover before you make the trip out there.
-
Alot of people told the CSC people to scan as many tickets as they could and they did. Oh well SMU does it There were no more than 200 people in the entire student section without the band.... The student turnout was dismal as usual.... The alumni side had over a thousand.....or so........ Attendance was awful. No more thanksgiving week games pleaseeeeee, schedule it as an away game..... Athetlic Dept doesn't seem to care or understand...

Texas will get the #2 slot in the BCS, they beat OU by two possessions and beat up on okie state. If oklahoma cant beat up on okie state then they cant argue anymore, also I believe that okie state will give the sooners a run for their money, they are top ten team and are playing in stillwater..... Go Oklahoma State

Talked To Rick Tonight About The Stadium
UNT_playmaker replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Hayden Fry pushed for the "Texas State" name for better name recognition and to stay away from being a directional school. Fry also pushed for us to be in the old SWC and play rival games with SM-?..... His requests were ignored by NT adminstrators and blocked by the douche bags that are SMU and he basically saw being a head coach at NTSU was a loss cause.... -
