52-0 in the third quarter...I don't think MuTS is going to pull it out this time.
-
Don't be deceived...that light you see on the horizon is from the fire on our ship...it's burning and it's about to sink.
-
Meager is going to have negative yards passing.
-
OH NOOOO...It's Meager-time.
-
Another 4th down...4th and three at the four yard line. Another missed opportunity...balled turned over to Akron on downs.
-
converted a 4th and 6..

1st and goal from the 5...why am I not surprised we didn't score?

Obviously, top national recruits are NOT going to come knocking down our doors just because we have a nice, new stadium. SMU had, and still has, problems that a new stadium can not fix. We have many of those same problems. But, when I hear parents of 3A high school players complaining about how bad Fouts is for high school playoff games, that doesn't make me happy. Many high school fields are better than Fouts. How can we expect top recruits to, from their perspective, take a step backwards, and come to UNT? It's all about playing on a progressively bigger stage.
-
Yes, I think we put the cart before the horse. The additional revenue that could be generated from a new stadium would pay for further construction of other facilities IF football is successfully marketed and attendance increases are realized.

I'm glad that we have the new AC and the women's complex and all but, frankly...I'm sick and tired of being reminded about that when we have that sorry excuse for a college football stadium in plain view of all who drive I-35. Fouts is embarrassing and it's no wonder we can't get better recruits with that stadium and our bland brand of football. Can someone please tell me again why we didn't save the money used to build the new AC, et. al until we had enough to begin construction on a new football stadium?

WTH is "incremental progress"? We've won what 3 OOC games in the last 5 years? It's true we don't play OU, Alabama and Arkansas this season or next...but I think Texas, LSU and Miami are even more lopsided matchups. North Texas must dominate the SBC every single year and win more OOC games for this program to be considered to be successfully progressing. Four straight SBC titles were baby steps forward. Last year's 2-9 performance was a big step backwards. Continue to accept mediocrity and we will never be even a blip on the Top 25 radar.

Tulsa's really pissing me off with this Playstation, go-for-it-on-every-fourth-down, crap!! Tuck Fulsa!! Let's go MEAN GREEN...we need to win this one.

Reggie Bush and his family "appear" to have received more than $100,000 in financial benefits from marketing agents while Bush played at USC, according to a report posted Thursday night on Yahoo! Sports. The Web site reported that the benefits, which could lead the NCAA to retroactively declare Bush ineligible and level sanctions against the Trojans, were supplied by two groups that were attempting to sign Bush as a client. Bush also could be stripped of his Heisman Trophy. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2588347 This would certainly rattle the world of college football.

LOL...DD coughing/clearing his throat at press conferences is standard routine.

I don't know about El Guapo but I saw myself. Those end zone seats weren't all that bad as that's the end zone where most of the action occurred.

Troy moves from 103 to 101 after nearly upsetting FSU??

My wife, who worked in Hong Kong for thirteen years, said the SMU band looked like Hong Kong McDonalds employees. Apparently, they dress in similar attire. That was too funny to me considering we were talking about S-M-U, where most students/alumni wouldn't be caught dead in a McDonalds uniform.

In the past, I have been very critical of your play calling, specifically your seemingly steadfast disdain for taking chances with the passing game. It seemed that passing was never an option on first down and, on many occassions, second down. When you opened the UT game with two passes, I noticed. They may not have been successful, but they kept the defense honest. Tonight's playcalling was the best I've seen from the Mean Green in quite some time...a good ratio of pass to run plays. Woody turned several of the pass plays into runs but those were exciting to watch. I can't even count the number of times I heard the PA announcer say, "Jamario Thomas, dropped for a loss." It wasn't until Woody gave SMU's defense something else to worry about that Jamario finally started breaking some nice runs. I want to thank you for having more faith in the offense's ability to be multi-dimensional. I read a quote from you last week in which you second-guessed yourself for giving the team too much to think about, in the way of plays, prior to the Texas game. I think a more extensive playbook is exactly what this team needs and I hope that you have not decided to scale back the number of plays in your gameplan. Mistakes will made but we must strive to overcome those and practice perfection. Fresh playcalling is key, for when we do the same thing over and over we become too predictable and we have neither the size, nor the speed, to line up with anyone and tell them what play is coming. I hope Woody Wilson has done enough to earn the starting QB job. I still like Matt Philipps' arm strength, but I can't justify him playing over Woody. Not only is Woody exciting and fun to watch, but he just flat out gets the job done. Until the O-line improves at both pass and run blocking, we'll have to rely on Woody's scrambling ability to move the chains. I'm sure beating SMU was a personally satisfying and joyous occassion for you, RF and RV, but you've also made a lot of Mean Greeners very proud tonight!! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

DMN NT has too much, too soon? having too much

I read this in today's paper and the bold statement is what really got me laughing. DD now thinks he has too many plays in his arsenal so he wants to scale it back to the three basic running plays and the draw. Seriously though, I understand his concern about the possibility of the players having too much to remember, but that doesn't mean he needs to scrap the additional plays. It means that the team needs to study the playbook more and practice harder. Mistakes will be made, especially against a top-ranked opponent like Texas, but we can't just give up after one game. -
Congrats Ark St on an OOC victory. Every SBC member needs to win more OOC games if any of us expect to ever get out of the D-IA basement.

Would that be the same Colorado team that lost to D-IAA Montana State?

Back to Business as Usual...Ugh! 56-7?
