  1. I'm confused...what does "increase completion for starters' playing time" mean? This talk of Dickey staying another year is crazy talk. Every one of you is starting to sound complacent with the thought of DD staying another year. What if that happens, and DD finishes 6-5 again next year and makes it to the NO Bowl again? What then? Will we all be happy and think everything in the Mean Green world is good again? I won't...DD has got to go. The sooner we get rid of him and get someone in here who is not intimidated or frustrated by the "big, bad Texas schools" the sooner we'll have a chance at some national prominence. Being out-recruited by SMU is embarrassing enough, but being out-recruited by our Sunbelt brethren is down-right unacceptable. North Texas needs a head coach that believes the Mean Green belong on the same field with Top 25 schools and he needs to make our team believe they belong and can win each and every game they play.
  2. Anyone else notice #88 on the list?? 88 Terrael Williams Dallas (TX) Skyline OL 6-8/407 Now that's a big kid!!!
  3. KDL - thanks for making the "used Buick" sign. I had every intention of attending Saturday's game but my wife's 7 1/2 months pregnant and didn't feel up to it when it came time to leave. I hope the sign went to good use? What I want to know is if we used SMU's ticket counter for the recruits???
  4. I think the more appropriate title for this thread would be "Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory".
  5. Meager is my hero!!
  6. If we lose the rest of games and get a new coach for 2007, then I would deem this season a success.
  7. How about this for a sign For Sale - Used Buick, high mileage, needs engine overhaul, new paint and new tires - comes with a Diet Coke boy.
  8. Unfortunately, I put little faith in the nfl.com information. If you click on PC's name, you'll see that they still have him with a Steelers helmet beside his picture.
  9. I did a quick search on GMG and couldn't fing any current news about PC. I finally found a site that lists Miami's practice squad roster http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/roster/MIA and, much to my dismay, PC's no where to be found. Can anyone provide additional info?
  10. http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/10/26/bi...y.ap/index.html Cornell's fundraising staff numbers 125. Any idea how many we have on the UNT fundraising staff?
  11. Uhhh...what could be interesting? I hope you're not talking about the game? OU could suit up a bunch of homeless guys and still beat us by 30+ points.
  12. These reports of the comments the athletic department is making towards long-time donors/supporters is disheartening and completely unacceptable. It's no wonder we can't build any consistency in the private donor pool with that kind of attitude.
  13. Ok, I have to ask...who trademarked "Junebug boxing match" and why?
  14. I saw some good plays from Meager and I saw some bad plays. I recall one series, in particular, in which Meager fell down on 1st, fumbled the snap on second and (I think) he threw a pick on 3rd. The specifics escape me because I've tried to block it out of my mind but it was bad, bad, bad. However, I will say that Meager had some good passes and some nice runs. That being said, Rex Grossman had some nice passes in his dismal 2-fumble, 4-interception performance last Monday night against Arizona. I am at a loss for what to do with the remainder of this season. Meager has the most experience and no one else has really stepped up to take advantage of the playing time they've been given this season. I think Phillips is a better "game" player than he is a "practice" player and Woody...well, it all revolves around the O-line. If we can't pass-block then it doesn't matter who's behind center. Woody needs a little protection, before it can break down and he can scramble up the field. Everyone is already suggesting that we go after a top QB recruit this season. While I think we need to recruit top QB prospects each and every year, I think a stronger emphasis needs to be placed on recruiting offensive linemen. I think everyone on this board has enough football savvy to know that any offense on any level revolves around the o-line. We can't run the ball because we can't block. We can't pass the ball, because teams aren't concerned about the run...because we can't block. Play-action passes don't work when teams aren't concerned about the run. QBs can't find receivers when they're lying on their backs. And we don't necessarily have to recruit beef to be successful. Denver consistently has one of the smallest o-lines in the NFL, yet their rushing attack is generally one of the league's best year-in and year-out. They excel with their speed and pull blocking schemes. Ok, that's my rant for now.
  15. Yes, that is definitely a reviewable play. I've seen that same scenario reviewed and overturned several times. Now, having said that, I'm not sure the SBC replay camera angles would have proven much. Did anyone else hear the TV commentary about the SBC replay rules? They refuse to use the TV broadcast footage, opting to go solely with the in-stadium, mounted cameras....they showed one such camera at ASU and it looks like a security camera at 7-Eleven. It was mounted near the goal line under the eave of the upper deck! It certainly doesn't appear that a better image could be captured by that camera compared to what would be available from the TV cameras. Does anyone have any insight as to why the SBC chose this replay reviewal method?
  16. I just read this thread (man, this board is having some awful IT problems lately) and those were exactly my thoughts. I would say that USM has really dropped off since their NO Bowl appearances too, but with the current 4-3 record...I'd say you guys are right on target for another stellar 6-5 season. You should be proud!
  17. Thanks Harry and Chris!
  18. Despite the GMG criticism of DD and some of his past comments regarding members of this forum, I think we all agree that those differences need to be set aside in light of the recent developments in Coach Dickey's health. I'm sure no one wanted this to happen (if you did, you're a sick-o). Does anyone plan to send flowers, get well cards, etc? I think it would be a great gesture if we could send something to DD from the GMG forum to show our appreciation for his efforts and to send our thoughts and prayers.
  19. See...we CAN compete with other schools for recruits! An early commitment...what a concept.
  20. I just heard the news on Channel 5. Best wishes Coach Dickey!!
  21. Yep, this is our guy alright...he threw five interceptions last night!! DD, sign him up now!
  22. Might he possibly excel too?
  23. No offense Jim, but that's downright hilarious! When is the last time we had a QB preparing for the pros?
  24. Maybe this kid fits the profile of players our current regime likes to recruit? According to the article, he's never been a starter so he shouldn't be too high on the recruiting lists of the "big boys". http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...te.33c390e.html
  25. I think we should copy Texas A & M's 12th man ritual, only instead of having the 12th man play on special teams, our 12th man could play QB.
