  1. Your links aren't working for me.
  2. I won't apologize for keeping tabs on our other coaching candidates... Harbaugh already recruiting well December 28, 2006 Erik Williams CardinalReport.com Senior Editor New Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh hasn't taken long to impress the recruits. While recruiting success was predictable for the young and energetic coach, it's good news for Cardinal fans that it has come so soon. Just days after his announcement as Stanford's coach, Harbaugh convinced 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive tackle Brad Hallick to switch pledges from Virginia to Stanford. Hallick, rated three-stars by Rivals.com and considered the 57th best offensive tackle prospect in the country, is a big coup for the Stanford program. He called Harbaugh last week and told him the good news. "He was really excited and thinks I'm going to be a big part of their program," Hallick said of Harbaugh's reaction. "I really like him and his vision for the future is exciting. He told me after I committed that he could do a cartwheel since I was technically his first commitment."
  3. If that's true and transpires as you've stated, then it will be a great decision for Jimbo. I also found this article on Jim Harbaugh...does anyone have a rivals account that can access and post the full story?? http://stanford.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=623527 Harbaugh already recruiting well Erik Williams CardinalReport.com Senior Editor Associated Press New Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh hasn't taken long to impress the recruits. 4. I was a little concerned about hiring a HS coach (even though it's TD) but I was happily surprised with all the positive publicity it received. Before TD was even hired, I was questioning (mainly to myself) who would be OC and DC because I wondered if college coaches could accept working for a HS coach with no collegiate experience as HC. Now it's starting to unfold as I had feared it would with not just one, but a whole staff of former HS coaches. But, I'm just going to stop with that comment, bite my lip and hope for the best.
  5. I know this isn't exactly what you're suggesting, but could you imagine how hard people would laugh if we tried to get a bowl game at Fouts???? We can't even get high school playoffs there.
  6. Jimbo Fisher is listed as a candidate to replace recently-fired Minnesota coach, Glen Mason. This must be the sixth or seventh school in which I've seen his name mentioned. He must really suck in the interviewing process. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content....&CID=606251
  7. I know who I'm rooting for next Monday (hint; they don't have a Heisman trophy winner on their team).
  8. Looks like we need to include the hook and ladder and statue of liberty plays in our playbook next September!!!
  9. Wow! Great game...BSU beat OU and the pro-BCS refs from the Big 10. Props to the Broncos.
  10. This story is particularly interesting to me because I went to school with G.J.'s father. Many of you may recall, Gary Joe Kinne was the head HS football coach at Canton HS a few years ago and was shot by one of his own player's father, after a spring practice. He made a full recovery and led Canton to the playoffs that same year. Gary Joe was a standout linebacker for Baylor University from 87-91, and Baylor hired him as their LB coach in 2005. G.J. (one of 4 QBs featured on the cover of last year's Dave Campbell's Texas Football) committed to Baylor almost immediately after his father accepted the LB coach position. Does this scenario of hiring an outstanding QB's father to your college football staff seem familiar to anyone? http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...rt.333908e.html Gilmer QB reverses field, commits to UT 11:35 PM CST on Thursday, December 28, 2006 Gilmer quarterback G.J. Kinne, who had been orally committed to Baylor, switched his pledge to Texas on Thursday night, according to Rivals.com. Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a recruit in the Class of 2007 can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 7. Kinne's switch comes eight days after top-rated QB John Brantley of Ocala, Fla., told Texas coaches that he was changing his commitment from UT to Florida. Kinne, whose father Gary Joe is a linebackers coach at Baylor, had been interested in Texas, but the Longhorns never offered a scholarship after flirting with Texarkana Texas High's Ryan Mallett and Brantley. Kinne (6-2, 207) did not return calls from The News on Thursday. Todd Wills

  12. So I picked a few schools that traditionally suck, but just happened to have good seasons in 2006...I'm sure their successes are due to the fact that their school names aren't "directional". Just for you Quoner, I'll revise that list to reflect the '06 season: crappy = schools not making bowls and not having "directional" state names: Colorado, Kansas, Virginia, Connecticutt, Indiana, Illinois, Mississippi, Washington, Arizona and Idaho. good = schools with "directional" names receiving '06 bowl invites: Northern Illinois, South Florida, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Southern Mississippi
  13. I agree with your opinion on Tech and thought you might appreciate the TT doll as much as I do: http://droppage.theticket.com/texastechdoll.mp3
  14. Yeah, if I'm AD at XYZ State University, I'm definitely scheduling the University of Southern California, West Virginia and South Carolina so my football teams can have easy victories. Yes, I know two of those schools share their state name, but they're still directional. I've seen this stupid argument over and over...and it's just that...stupid. What's the excuse for schools like Kentucky, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Kansas, etc. etc.??
  15. Yes, and I heard them say that the offense only had ONE returning starter....simply amazing. It also sounded like TD's voice was starting to crack (from emotion) a couple of times, a la Dick Vermeil, but that would have been understandable in TD's case.
  16. Same here...as long as we're winning, we could show up in pink pajamas and I wouldn't care.
  17. I must say, that is the first time I have ever seen a QB line up in shotgun formation to take a knee.
  18. That would be the Delaware Hens: http://www.udel.edu/sportsinfo/football/
  19. Good grief...this thread reminds me of why we have no traditions. We can't even agree on what our official school colors are. Our current uniforms aren't exactly my favorite but I am sick of changing every few years. How can we expect the casual fan to recognize us when we have an identity crisis? The last thing Coach Dodge needs to worry about is designing new uniforms. Oh really? Are kelly green helmets more prone to concussions? Do they make athletes slower?
  20. I'm not picking on you GGII, but when did the "shuffle" pass become synonomous with the shovel pass?? I hear TV announcers say shuffle pass all the time. I've even heard them call it the "shuttle" pass a few times.
  21. I'm getting really tired of froggies and ponies thinking that Dodge will leave UNT in a couple of years to accept a promotion to coach at their illustrious schools. I've also seen that comment from UT, but that scenario is actually a little more believable (even though it's my understanding that TD and UT aren't exactly on the greatest of terms).
  22. Ok, now I know. STA loses the game by not converting a fourth and goal...couldn't have been more than an inch or two shy of the goal line.
  23. What? Damn, and here I was thinking I was watching a live game!!! Did you go to it Caribbean? At least don't tell me who won...
  24. Looks to be headed to a second OT, with star player Chris Rainey (a Florida Gator commit) injured on the play.
  25. It's going to OT now. This game is as incredible as the famous Tyler John Tyler vs. Plano East game. For those that don't know, Lakeland is the Southlake Carroll of Florida, having won two consecutive state championships. Some have them ranked #1 in the nation this year. STA scored all 35 of their points in the 4th quarter.
