Final score 6-2.
-
Solo HR by MUTS in the top of the 6th makes it 6-2. Mean Green are 3 outs away from the CUSA Championship!
-
Leadoff triple by Katie Clark and a sac fly to LF makes it 6-1 UNT heading into the 5th.
-
Mean Geeen up 5-1 in bottom of 3rd with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd.
-
USM takes game 1 5-3.
-
USM is winning the first game 5-3 in the bottom of the 6th. I think they are in a rain delay.
-
Mean Green lose 4-2. Let's go Southern Miss.
-
Mean Green scores 1 run in the bottom of the 6th on a bases loaded walk and then leaves the bases loaded again on a horrible 3rd strike call. 4÷2 MUTS bottom of 7. Put your rally hars on.
-
MUTS scores on a double steal, 2nd and home and then singles in another run. MUTS is up 4=1 heading into the bottom of the 5th.
-
Mean Green score 1 in the bottom of the 4th. 2-1 MUTS.
-
MUTS scores in the top of 3rd. 2-0.
-
Had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the 2nd and we couldn't score a run. Hope that doesn't come baxk to haunt us.
-
Mean Green take game 1, 1-0 on a bunt fielder's choice to home, run scored. Small ball wins. Game 2 start3 in 30.
-
1-0, bottom of 6th
-
That is correct. Win our 4 remaining games and we should take the #1 seed.

I'm all for this too. The OU home game last season sold out (even though it got rained out). The uncovered seating doesn't really bother me all that much since most of the season is played prior to the Texas heat, but covered seating would make for a nicer stadium. Also, I do love the home softball games being scheduled on the same day as the spring football game. That didn't work out for this year, but has in year's past. In watching some SEC softball on TV, I noticed most of their schools were doing the same. I've mentioned this on here before, but I'll say it again here. College softball is popular sport to watch on TV too, with the Women's College World Series ratings often surpassing the Men's CWS. The 2017 17-inning championship game between Florida and OU was the highest rated program ESPN had that week:

Nice. My daughter told me we were #60 the other day, but I don't know what ranking she may have been referencing. Pretty sure winning the CUSA tournament and getting the automatic bid is our only hope of making the field of 64. Last night's loss didn't help our chances of securing an at large bid. On a side note, I'll be in OKC for my daughter's softball tourney the same weekend as the WCWS. It'd be awesome to be able to cheer on the Mean Green in the WCWS, but there's a long, hard road ahead for the that to occur.

I was just reading the CUSA rules on the tournament format. Having a #1 or #2 seed is a huge advantage, in that those teams earn a double-bye that automatically puts them in double-elimination format, rather than single elimination. Right now, we’re tied with La. Tech for first in the West division with 14-4 records, but hold a 2-1 head-to-head record vs. them. La. Tech plays #8 Louisiana today while we play #13 OSU. We have two 3-game series left against UAB (5-12 conf. record, last in West division) and MTSU (9-8 conf. record, 3rd in East division). La. Tech has two 3-game series left against Western Kentucky (15-3 conf. record, 1st place in East division) and Southern Miss (11-7 conf. record, 3rd place in West division). Easy math if we win out, we take 1st in the West division and get at least the #2 seed. However, La. Tech could help us get the #1 seed by beating WKU and possibly even push them into a 3 seed or lower, putting WKU in single elimination format. That last part probably won’t happen, but I’d be thrilled with the #1 seed.

As a father of two softball players, I love seeing all this interest in softball. Thanks for the updates Rick. I’m “watching” the game on the stat broadcast.

👏 Great job softball team!

Keep keep your head up little buckaroo. I’ve been to many of those same milestone games you have, plus some (I still remember watching us play Dickerson/James at Texas Stadium). This past season was, without a doubt, one of the best. That can’t be taken away. If SL leaves, I don’t expect a return to 1-10. This program is back on the map and the parties responsible for hiring SL are still in place. I trust they can find an excellent replacement, should it come to that.

I think that would be a good hire. However, after the Leach incident, I’m skeptical to believe Tech would hire Leavitt, given the similarities in his dismissal from USF.
