Funny. I also found it humorous that the SMU beat writer, Kate Hairopoulos (is that her real name?), called SMU out on their supposed "sell-out" SMU gets attendance record, yet empty seats remain

This one has us as the highest ranked team in the SBC!! Worst to first in one week?? Really?? Bring on Alabama!!
-
This poll is bogus - how else could you explain SMU moving up one spot for barely beating an FCS school?

And when you wear your Mean Green, the grass stains don't show.

I am absolutely livid with this news!!

The same can be said for the offense being able to control the clock and give the defense time to catch their breath. We won the TOP game 37 minutes to 23 minutes. Personally, I'm not really that surprised by Riley's performance. I thought, all along, that his knowledge/familiarity of this offense would instantly put him ahead of where Gio was his Freshman season and probably even last year. I was slightly concerned about the receiving corps since so much attention was focused on Stradford being a starter this year, but only slightly (still, I can't wait to see this offense with Stradford and Cole on the field at the same time). I thought Riley showed great poise and confidence. He didn't panic - even on the play near his own end zone, he was able to recognize the pocket was collapsing and throw the ball away...making certain the ball crossed the line of scrimmage. There were a lot of designed QB runs and he made quick decisions in passing the ball. Actually, some of those were a bit too quick, as the DBs were starting to jump the routes in the 2nd half - I hope the coaching staff works on that this week. Riley, generally, is pretty good at checking off the covered receivers. The running game was fantastic - not much else you can say about that, except that I give a LOT of credit to a more mature, more conducive offensive line - great job guys. I hated the 3rd and 25 draw call though - but it was executed perfectly. The aspect that I was really concerned about was the defense and I had no feel whatsoever how they would perform. To sum it up, they were awesome. I do think having an opposing QB who was a redshirt Freshman himself, did help our defense (he missed some wide open receivers that could have changed the game), but you can't take anything away from how this defense came together and delivered last night. Aside from a few missed tackles and a couple of open receivers, you couldn't ask for a better performance. We had a goal-line stand and, for the most part, the receivers were blanketed with DBs. Even the long toss where the WR stepped out of bounds was well played.

I too wish the BSU fans nothing but good luck for the rest of the season. When our site crashed last night, I wandered over to the BSU site and tried to join to post a few good words to them. However, I'm still awaiting my "activation code". Anyway, great fans, very respectful and knowledgeable. I look forward to hosting them in Denton in 2013.

At times, this game brought tears to my eyes....I almost forgot what it's like to win. Tonight was much, much better than a win over an FBS team. I hope this team gained a LOT of confidence and that it can carry the momentum over to next week. If that can happen, and we can go 2-0, then look out, this team may be an SBC contender. And, if we end up with a winning record and/or a bowl game, I think the recruiting will really take off and we'll see the best recruiting class our great university has ever known. Kudos to Coach Dodge and staff. What Deloach has done to this defense is simply phenomenal, although totally expected by those of us who have entrusted him with all our faith. Field goal tries aside, the special teams looked pretty good too.

Not to brag, but....nailed the completions and only one off on the yardage....damn....too bad Vegas doesn't take bet on these kind of predictions. ***Oh, and nailed the TDs and INTs too...a little off on the rushing yards though...***

The gameday countdown reads ZERO!! I hope, I hope, I hope....we win this game!!!

I already made my Riley prediction here:

I think Lance Pavlas is still playing for A$M.

I vote yes, although I have absolutely no idea if he'd be interested in playing for the Mean Green. Tight end Jamal Mosley leaving OSU Cowboys

Ball State Game Notes And Unt Two-deep Posted

Still nothing for me...strange. -
And, thus, my point is proven. Maybe we should change our name again? The University of Self Pity seems apropos.
-
Oh yeah? What do these two pictures say??
-
Wrong. If that scenario ever materialized, we'd have 10,000 new excuses as to why we can't be like Oklahoma State or Texas Tech or even, dare I say...SMU.

Ball State Game Notes And Unt Two-deep Posted

I don't know if this is a Mac thing or what, but my screen is blank when I click on the Ball State Game Notes link. I can't believe in this day and time that some sites still discriminate against Macs!! -
Ruling expected Thursday on SMU's McNeal I don't have anything against McNeal and I'm sympathetic to his family situation. However, I will be a bit peeved if his waiver is granted, while Stradford's was denied. Here's another fine example of the NCAA's leniency when team's of high value have interests at stake: Memphis says guard Elliot Williams eligible to play for Tigers this season But I'm not still bitter.

I've been out all day, so I'm just now seeing the good news. This is a great get for Coach Dodge...in fact, I give him a free pass on year three based on this pick up!! Just kidding, of course, but getting William Cole is really impressive and I can't wait to see him and Stradford on the field at the same time. Hopefully, we'll get Mayberry back next year too, although he'll probably redshirt his first season. It really sucks that Cole will only have two seasons of eligibility left, considering he sat out the entire season last year. The good news is that the extra year should really give his ACL enough time to heal completely. Welcome aboard William, we're really excited to have you here.

Who Will Be Let Go Off First This Season?
gangrene replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
That's putting it mildly. What a stupid thread...especially before this team's even played a single game this season. -
Wow, I am a bit surprised. On a team that's only won 3 games in two years, I expected a few of those top recruits to contribute immediately - namely (Flax, White and Noble). On the other hand, if we can get through this season with marked improvement, it will be nice to have those guys with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

A real life Paul Blake?? I wonder if he's dating any professors like the Texas State QB did? Now, if they sign Kathy Ireland to be their kicker....
