  1. He was 3-3 and had more passing yards in the last 2 minutes, than either Dodge or Tune had (with significantly more playing time). To proclaim him a permanent bench warmer is a bit premature, IMHO.
  2. Dodge commentary: Should Todd Dodge return for another year at UNT?
  3. Three more years baby, three more years!!! Villarreal signs deal You like new stuff, right? We'll, we've got a shiny new stadium coming and we'll have a new coach and AD by your senior year at UNT - even it you lose your redshirt in the final three minutes of the last game in your freshman season. Now tell me kid, what other school can make those kind of promises to you?
  4. Hmmm...that makes me wonder....should Dodge and co. adopt the SLC tradition of bleaching their hair during the 2010 football season???
  5. I can't speak for Richard but I do recall Mark Cuban bitching about ESPN Dallas failing to send any reporters to the Mavericks games. According to Cuban, the ESPN Dallas journalists were just watching the games on TV and posting their stories online without ever stepping into the AAC. And, for that reason, Cuban vowed to NOT give them any breaking news stories that may surface. Now, knowing Cuban's way, he probably has a personal agenda in all this.
  6. I found the mention of George curious as well. His recruiting and positions have been pretty good. Like you, I don't really know a whole lot about Rausch either. With Ford, I can only judge based on what I see of the offense but I still can't say for certain that he's mainly to blame for some those oversights that seem so obvious to most of us. Personally, I was really hoping to get an outsider's (college coach with spread offense experience) perspective to help our staff with their offense. It's been proven that the spread can be very successful at the college level, but not everyone runs it in the same manner. I wish we could add someone like Tony Franklin to our current staff to provide additional insight/suggestions on how to tweak Dodge's offense so it can be more successful.
  7. Exactly! This is what I don't get. All of this uncertainty (including RV's quoted statements expressing indecisiveness regarding Dodge's future at UNT) has been nothing but harmful to the recruiting process. HS athletes are deciding where they want to spend the next 4-5 years of their lives and they don't have the same freedoms to change schools (and play elsewhere immediately) if things don't work out at UNT. I think coaching stability is a HUGE factor in recruiting and RV should have never let there be any doubt, other than that expressed by the media and fans, that he fully supported Dodge returning next season.
  8. I'm really torn with this decision. My morbid curiosity wants to see Dodge back next year with the new offensive weapons finally seeing the field. However, I've been excited about similarly touted players (Fentriss and Horton to name a few) in the Dodge era, only to be disappointed when they never stepped foot on the field or failed to live up to their expected potential. I was really excited at thought of the possibly infusing this coaching staff with some new, yet college-experienced, coaching blood. If football season came more than once a year, I'd be totally on board with giving Dodge one last chance to prove that this team's losing ways are really attributed to immaturity/inexperience, not having Dodge's "players" and every other excuse anyone has given to explain this disaster. But, a year is a long, long time to wait/waste, especially when you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel (for all the smoke that's being blown up our @@$).
  9. So what does that mean? Does "good" mean 7 wins?
  10. I love, love, love the measuring stick of success RV has!!!
  11. My experience has been the exact opposite. My friends (who live in DFW) pay very little attention to what UNT is doing because they simply do not care. These are huge college football fans that can name the top 25 rankings on any given week, yet all they could tell you about UNT is what they hear from me - or something in regards to the gay homecoming vote. While they don't know our exact record, they always safely assume that it's pretty bad. Even my friends that graduated from UNT don't follow what's happening with the football program - these are the same people who would attend the homecoming games every year, back when we were winning. Now that we're losing, they've lost all interest. And who can really blame them, it's rather embarrassing to have only won five games in three years. When I'm at a business meeting and the conversation turns to college football, I always dread the question of, "Which school did you go to?" And then the sympathetic smile and sudden change of conversation. I've taken friends to UNT football games before and they vowed never to go back because they were bored.
  12. Honestly, I see three potential wins there. We definitely should have beaten Army this year, Rice sucks again so we have a shot against them and if the K-State game gets replaced with Sam Houston or Texas State we, again, should win. Sad but true - I'd be worried to play SFA right now as they almost beat a good SMU team this year. Then again, we could have three more close losses or even blowout losses....who really knows anymore?
  13. How F-ING long does it take to "go through the process of evaluating the football program"??? What a joke of a program we have!!!
  14. My vote is that we steal Tony Franklin from MTSU, hopefully killing two birds with one stone. I just think he could make the adjustment quickly and easily, plus we can afford him, hopefully.
  15. Maybe he'll just call UNT_playmaker and tell him to let the board know?
  16. You MFer!!!
  17. If we would have made a change to the OC last year, we could have gotten Tony Franklin. I think he'd be a perfect fit for this team, but I doubt we could pry him away from MUTS now.
  18. Exactly, he's just lurking around the forum as an anonymous member. I'm telling you...that GTBG post is coming soon.
  19. Hal Wasson for OC!!!
  20. I'd keep an eye on all of the programs that are changing head coaches. Most of the time the baby gets thrown out with the bath water.
  21. But were their sources the boyfriend's of third cousins??
  22. Glad to be Green post coming in three, two, one....yep, only at UNT!
  23. It is lame, but we've got plenty of morphine and "medical" marijuana to ease the pain.
  24. I couldn't tell you. Those of us in the "I just don't give a sh*t anymore camp" don't really associate with outsiders.
  25. I do!! Losing is the new winning. It's so much more fun to bitch and complain every week. What would we have to gripe about if we actually won a few games?
