Well, we have plenty of PT to offer. However, I won't be holding my breath that either one finds his way to UNT. I think we need to start collecting these stories and make them must-read articles for UNT prospects who are also considering Texas, OU, Tech, A&M, etc. Sometimes, the act of actually contributing to the team on the field outweighs the benefits of riding the pine in a national championship game. Some may call them quitters, but I'll take the guy that chooses playing over the one that likes standing on the sidelines every time.

Congrats and nice name choice! My daughter (class of 2025) just so happens to have the same first name!

If Chris Babb And J'mison Morgan Come To North Texas
gangrene replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Is the thought process on Babb and Morgan coming to UNT just wishful thinking or has it been reported that each of them is actually considering a transfer to UNT? I know Babb was offered and considered UNT out of HS, but has anything been reported more recently? Also, I don't see anything on Morgan's intention to transfer to UNT. I saw it reported that Baylor may be a possibility. Is the hope that Morgan will consider UNT based solely on his father's history or is there something else to this? -

Seriously guys, we need to get over Thompson losing his redshirt and move on. It happened and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Yes, he was but three minutes shy from having an additional year of eligibility, but I really don't see it as that big of a deal. Rarely does any team have a four-year starter at QB that plays every single game in each of those four years. Some of you will disagree but I really don't view Thompson's Freshman season playing time much differently than I view UT's Garrett Gilbert's Freshman campaign. Take out his stats in the national championship game and he participated in 8 games, compiling a grand total of 124 passing yards on 15 completions in 26 attempts. Now, had he not been forced into action in the championship game, would you view those regular season stas as a worthwhile contribution versus having an additional year of eligibility?

What about this one? Todd Dodge said. “It is a win-win situation for us though, because I feel we can win conference with either of them starting.”
-
That was one of the first thoughts that came into my head as well. Or, what do you think now Giovanni Vizza? Like others have already mentioned, this really puts a new level of uncertainty on this season. Regardless of whether or not Thompson turns out to be all-conference, he has three minutes of college football experience thus far. This is Dodge's fourth season and it's also the fourth season there's been instability at, arguably, the most important position in his style of offense. I don't blame either Dodge but, unless you think game-day experience is over-rated, then I don't see how this can be viewed as anything other than another setback. On the bright side, at least the coaching staff will have six months to get the new QB ready. Best of luck to Riley in making the transition to WR.

In all honesty, would we really want players that have UNT at the "top of their list" after winning only 5 games in three seasons? Frankly, I'd prefer to get those guys that have Texas or OU on the top of their list. I know it doesn't exactly feel good to hear someone say that UNT was not their first choice, but just because some kids don't say it doesn't mean it's not true.

And, it was listed on the DMN's college sports blog! UNT-K-State picked over Baylor game in local NCAA Tournament TV schedule

Actually, I really like this idea/promotion. It gives the residents of Denton an added incentive to cheer the Mean Green on to victory. I hope we have more corporate involvement of this nature in the future.

I see our "good buddy" CalallenStang is throwing us under the bus: RE: Future C-USA expansion candidates? Quote: It wouldn't hurt the attendance in Texas to add North Texas too the conference CalallenStang's reply - It wouldn't? None of the Texas schools have a history with UNT. SMU has the most history of playing them and our fans don't care about seeing them at all. UNT also commands about as much as the Dallas media market as Plano West High School (admittedly, SMU does not command much more). UNT should only be admitted on a few conditions: 1) We need to replace a West Division team. 2) They agree to improve non-revenue sports facilities. 3) The new stadium must already be open. Even though this just a bunch of random messageboard speculation, I do find it a bit concerning just how often UTSA is mentioned as a possible CUSA candidate. ******EDIT****** Nice responses by MG61 and PerryGreen. Here's the link in case anyone wants to read the entire thread.

Actually, Conroy Hines resigned on December 19, 2009, prior to Dooley's departure/Dykes being hired. He cited a desire to "pursue other career opportunities" although he didn't elaborate. Being a La Tech alum, the La Tech fans seemed to like him for the most part.
-
according to footballscoop: North Texas: We are hearing that North Texas head coach Todd Dodge has hired Conroy Hines as wide receivers coach. Hines coached the wide receivers at LA Tech last season. So, if we are to believe football scoop, we now have a new WR coach and a TE coach. Here's Conroy Hines' bio page.

Right, but the question is more about which regions get which seeds rather than what seed a specific team gets. I can't find anything that states a predetermined seeding list for each location. This particular question is in regards to whether OKC gets a #15 vs #2 game or a #14 vs #3 game. ESPN's bracketology and bracketography.com show the differing perspectives. I've watched the live selection show every year it's been televised and this particular issue has never been discussed (or at least not that I can recall). From what I can tell, it looks like the selection committee has full discretion to determine which seeds play at which location. If you've ever bought tickets to any of the regionals, you might have noticed there is no mention of which seeds you may potentially be watching.
-
From what I've read, which seeds will play at which locations will be determined by the selection committee and will not be announced until next Sunday.
-
According to footballscoop.com: North Texas: We are hearing that North Alabama receivers / tight ends coach John Pont will be joining the North Texas staff as tight ends coach. So, does this mean we're not going to hire a WR coach?
-
Maybe we could have both? Bracketography

First of all, I have very little confidence in the accuracy of the ESPN (or anyone else's) ability to predict the seeds of all 65 teams. Furthermore, I believe we'll be higher than a 15 seed based on the "hot team factor" (a factor the selection committee admittedly considers). Still, it's interesting to see that ESPN projects us as the #15 seed in the West (New Orleans) bracket and if, and that's a big IF, we were to upset the #2 seed, we'd have a potential 2nd round matchup against formerly #1 ranked Texas. (Of course, the way Texas has been playing lately, there's no assurance they'll even win their first round game. But....I'd actually like our chances against the Longhorns - would that ever be a huge victory the Mean Green?
-
According to The Sporting News, our RPI is now 108. With Troy currently at 103, I imagine a victory tonight would improve that RPI and, subsequently, improve our NCAA seeding.

Funny. -
I'm very sad to hear this news. The Vito family is in my thoughts and prayers. Like KDL, I also followed the situation via Mrs. Vito's blog and I know how difficult the whole situation has been for the entire family.

Well, this is disappointing, especially since he interviewed with UNC weeks ago. It looks like he either wasn't their first choice or initially declined the offer to come to UNT. Here's the UNC Bears forum on the topic. -
Yep, it's pretty small.

Yep, you're right...I was thinking the championship game was on Monday night instead of Tuesday.
