I guess we're ignoring the Todd Dodge hire, or are you considering any experience at HC acceptable?

I think the UNT Dallas or UNT Frisco football teams could have played better than this. -

We look like a bad HS JV team. As someone who personally witnessed our upset in Lubbock in '97, this is beyond disappointing. I wasn't expecting a win, but I also wasn't expecting a blowout loss to a team that needed OT to beat ACU. -
Court ruling seeks test to decide if athletes are employees
gangrene replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
If athletes are deemed to be employees of a university, I wonder if state/public universities would be required to publish their NIL salaries while private universities would be exempt? That would be an interesting dilemma that could seemingly benefit schools like Notre Dame, USC and Miami. -
AAC discussing NIL compensation cap
gangrene replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Power Four Programs Offered 6-Figure NIL Deals to Colorado State’s Tory Horton, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi Huge fan of these two for their dedication and commitment to their teammates and school. $600K is a LOT of money for 19-20 year-old kids to turn down. Between the transfer portal and NIL, the college football game just doesn't excite me like it once did. With such high turnover rates every season, it's hard to get to know and follow a team. I'm afraid it will get a lot worse before it gets better. -
Record was 7-1, but hard to judge a whole lot based on the competition: 10/13 @ UTA - W 3-1 10/14 vs. Baylor - L 4-7 10/18 vs. Temple College Leopard - W 4-2 10/19 vs. McLennan Highlanders - W 17-0 10/26 vs. TX Woman's University - 8-2 10/27 vs. Seminole College - W 10-0 11/1 vs. Grayson College - W 16-1 11/2 vs. Weatherford College - W 29-2

Looks like the renovations are just to the dugout and clubhouse. I'd really love to see an expansion and shelter added to the stadium. Thrilled to see any renovations to Lovelace but, as far as softball stadiums go, Lovelace is fairly average to below average. I was at Tarleton State last month and was really impressed with their stadium (photo below). They just upgraded to add a shelter and they have all an all turf field, something most programs, including high schools, have now. Little Elm HS' softball stadium is very similar to this.

Probably not, softball recruiting is nothing like football recruiting and HS softball talent, relatively speaking, is far inferior to HS football.

Yep, that's pretty awful. He did have 4 carries for 62 yards, including a 38-yard TD. I just caught the last quarter and a half of the game. He had that nice run and the 4th down conversion, but I guess the supporting cast, both offense and defense, is the biggest difference between Kansas and UNT. Regardless, big win for Kansas and big win for Bean. Congrats to him. His time at North Texas was mentioned by the announcers a couple of times...any publicity is good publicity, right?

just beat #6 OU (by converting a 4th and 6 with 1:00 left in Q4). Can someone remind me why he couldn't start here?

What is up with the shot selection?

I see a LOT of posts associating Morris with recruiting and developing Mahomes. So, let’s talk about Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes is, without a doubt, one of the top QBs in the NFL today. What is debatable is who gets credit for recruiting him to Texas Tech. What’s even more debatable is who should be credited with his development and when did he become the QB we see today. The son of a MLB pitcher, Patrick grew up on the baseball field. He was an all-state selection in baseball all four years of HS and all-district selection in basketball all four years. He played safety his freshman and sophomore years before switching to QB his JR year. While he earned 4-A all-state honors as 1st team QB and Offensive POY, he was rated a 3-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 24/7 and a 4-star prospect by Scout. He only received three offers from Tech and two of the following: Houston, Rice, OK State OR UNT, per this story in the Oklahoman. I was pretty in tune with UNT recruiting in those day and I don’t recall this, but wouldn’t that have been something if we had landed Patrick Mahomes? Per 24/7 and Rivals (see previous links), he was recruited to Texas Tech by Sonny Cumbie and Trey Haverty and Kingsbury closed the deal. There is no mention of Eric Morris. This Bleacher Report story also credits Haverty. While his college career was laden with gaudy statistics, both individual and team offense, his W/L record was an average 13-16. Tech’s offense was ranked in the top 5 scoring offenses in the nation. Conversely, the defense was ranked 126th, 125th and 128th (out of 128 FBS teams at the time) during Mahomes three years as a starter. At Tech, he never played on a team that surrendered fewer than 41 points per game. Defense is what has always concerned me with the Air Raid offense. Even with those gaudy offensive statistics, Mahomes was the 2nd QB and 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. The NFL scouting report on him didn't portray him as a sure thing. Conclusion: Patrick Mahomes is just a freakish athlete and may have been able to play professionally in baseball, basketball or football. I hear he was also really good at golf as a teen. He does things on the football field that QBs are not supposed to do. His ridiculous basketball pass for a TD against the Broncos last week is a perfect example of that. https://youtu.be/66IiJ10otVc As a QB coach, that is not what you want your QB doing. It works for Patrick because he is a freak of nature but there aren’t many guys who can pull that off in the NFL. I can’t credit anyone with developing him as a QB. I also don’t find any conclusive evidence that Eric Morris had any involvement with the recruitment of Mahomes to Texas Tech. If anyone has any concrete evidence to prove that, I’d love to see it. I'm not trying to discredit Morris but, at the same time, I don't want to give him credit for something extraordinary that he may not have done. ++Gangrene++

This thread is almost as good as the one asking why Phil Bennett yells so much.

Kelly Leak, "Oh you call what you've got a team?" "The kind of baseball football you guys play is for f@&&*%$ and old farts that don't have anything better to do with their time." I have plenty of better things to do with my time.

My observation was that we suck. I'm done with Mean Green football this season....talk to you guys next year.

Can someone explain why Phil yells so much?
gangrene replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
Real football isn’t like the Puppy Bowl, but Phil has nothing on the late, great Sam Kinison who, quite literally, made a living out of yelling: -
