  1. I really hope you're right, but who is the victory against? Looking at the remaining schedule as objectively as I can, Portland State, UTSA and UTEP are really the only teams I see us having any chance against this year. Maybe you can throw MTSU into that mix and hope we have a bad weather game where we get a LOT of turnovers. If this team has stopped believing, as some have suggested, we're staring 0-12 in the face. Recruiting at UNT is hard enough without the additional negative of a win-less season. To any players or coaches reading this - prove me wrong PLEASE, prove me wrong. Put this up on the bulletin board and call me every worthless fan name you can think of...I'll be happy to admit I was wrong.
  2. If anyone has tickets you're not planning to use, please PM me. I have family/friends coming in from out of town that want to go to the game. Thanks,
  3. Jim Leavitt I'll answer my own question. No, we probably missed that window...5 years is a long time. I don't know if Leavitt still has the drive and the energy it takes to pull this program from the depths of abyss.
  4. Bowls game every year in the current FBS structure should most definitely be the expectation. Anything less should be considered a failure. 84 of 128 college teams will go to a bowl game this season. No reason we shouldn't be one of them. 3 new bowl games mean 84 of 128 college football teams will go bowlingBy Chris Fuhrmeister @ccfuhr on May 6, 2015, 8:33a http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2015/5/6/8557399/new-college-football-bowl-games-yes-more
  5. This, I'd be nervous about the possibility of McNulty being benched if I was Carlos Harris too. Carlos had 216 yards on 15 catches against Southern Miss last year with McNulty as his QB. I sat and watched in disbelief as Southern Miss continued to play soft coverage on him. SMU didn't do the same and almost picked McNulty every time he looked in the direction of Carlos. McNulty telegraphs his passes and he doesn't have the arm strength to overcome it. To Carlos's point, "he works with the talents God gave him," I agree McNulty does put in the time and effort it takes to succeed and he's a smart kid. I don't blame McNulty, I blame the coaching staff. If McNulty is the best QB on the team, the offense needs more adjustments to compensate....more timing plays, play-actions and, for the love of God, work with him on looking off DBs with his eyes and using pump-fakes. That's how you overcome a weak arm. Carlos, if you read this, kudos to you for coming to the defense of your teammates. I admire and respect that. I played sports long before social media was invented and I'm not sure how I'd handle it. But, this board represents the die-hard UNT fan. Try as we may, we will never stop following and supporting our school. We will be critical and we will demand better, but our expectations are no different than any other college. And this...lol...I think you meant politically correct.
  6. You could add me to the list too, except I punched my bingo card two years ago. I found better things to waste my time, or so I thought. I took my family to this game, hoping for a big win against a school I can't stand. Instead I saw a high school game.
  7. Really? I walked down to the end zone, saw all of the concession gates closed, and just gave up. I didn't see anyone else with a beer either. Regardless, we had a great time. The weather was awesome and the canon was firing almost non-stop. That was the only thing my 3-year-old didn't enjoy. I've been so out of touch I didn't even know Dunham had announced his retirement. Being there for that and congratulating him on his HOF induction were just added bonus.
  8. I'm about to head out for the game, does anyone know if they will be selling alcohol at the game today?
  9. Yep, I've seen this same scenario unfold too many times to know better than to get excited over a verbal from a former 4* recruit. I'll reserve my excitement for when/if this translates to success on the field. Now, let me say I do hope this one pans out.
  10. Former Southlake Carroll, UNT head coach Todd Dodge reflects on HS to college jump with USA Today. Not to bring up the past, but this article was just published today. I found it interesting and there are some classy comments from Dodge, at least in the DMN article. I haven't read the full USA Today article yet. Sorry if this has already been posted, I'm not able to spend a lot of time on GMG these days.
  11. Did anyone notice the ad on the jumbotron for Mean Gren Madness basketball? Mean Gren...really?
  12. SMU should be proud to have Eric Dickerson involved again in the program he helped kill. Looks like he's trying to kill it again. Thank you Eric...keep on talking and badmouthing SMU football...that's the way to build the program back up and get recruits to think about SMU. So, if getting blown out by UNT is what defines SMU as the "laughing stock," call in the clowns...because we've got 9 more years left in this series contract. That's reason enought to kill the program.
  13. I just heard this news (family commitments consume my world), WOW! This just makes me smile! SMU is sooo superior to UNT that they can't handle getting smoked by that "little commuter school in Denton." I really wish I could have seen this beat-down in person but I did record the game and have yet to watch it. Knowing what I know now will make it that much more enjoyable for me. I'm not at all concerned about who SMU may or may not bring in as their new coach. They have too many other issues. If we are going to worry about being out-recruited by another Texas school, we should focus our attention on UTSA.
  14. Will the Alamodome be renamed the Coker Dome (no pun intended)?
  15. Yep, I'm right there with you on that shattered dream. I've been told it takes a lot of time to build a quality program so long I started to believe it
  16. Well, it's official, UTSA has passed us by...this just makes me sick.
  17. A few interesting observations... Apparently, North Mesquite has two DBs named Andrew Jones as texasfootball.com shows one signing with Northern Illinois, in addition to the one signing with UNT. UTEP signed 11 recruits from outside the state of Texas. The Carthage QB signed with UTSA. A relative of Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend signed with SMU.
  18. Ok, this made me laugh but...you needed to add Denton to that question, as in, "Any chance of hurricane striking Denton on New Year's Day?"
  19. Where in my post did I say I disagreed with their prediction? What peeves me is not that they said we're going to lose, but how they said it and how quickly they dismissed "North Texas State" as being non-competitive.
  20. Well, we're not get any respect from the ESPN Gameday crew. About our chances of upsetting Georgia, they said, "No chance. That's a stat game, they (Georgia) will take the starters out at halftime." Any publicity is good publicity, right?
  21. I wasn't, but I am now. This is my first time watching them. They are so much further along for a three-year program than I could have ever imagined. I said I would have no respect for them until they played legitimate competition, respectably. They've now done this....49-28 against the #13 team in the country is respectable.
  22. Tulsa looks unprepared. This is the team picked to win our division?
  23. #learnplayersnames?
  24. Same here...I just can't stand that "you don't subscribe to this channel" message. Plus, the NFL Sunday ticket is pure ecstasy for football fans. What's ironic though is that I work in digital advertising and have planned many streaming video campaigns over the years. I recently received a Roku HD as a gift, hooked it up and became bored with it after only a few days. Personally, I don't think we'll ever see a true a la carte option, at least not without numerous networks ceasing to exist. There are just too many ownership groups operating multiple networks for that to become a reality. ESPN/ABC might offer one package for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESN, ESPN3 and LHN, another for Disney, Disney Jr and DisneyXD and yet another for ABC, ABC family, etc. But I don't see them offering each network individually. If they did, several of those networks would be cancelled because they would be unprofitable.
