  1. I don't care if we recruit high school or JUCO players, I just want BETTER players. Just because an athlete has played JUCO ball doesn't make him better than a HS player. Now if the main reason these JUCO players were forced into JUCO was because they couldn't pass the college entrance exam and they have real football talent, then I'm for it, as long as they've gotten their academics in order (of course).
  2. I've seen this statement from several different forumers recently. At this point, we shouldn't be turning away ANY fans...fair weather or not. For Tuesday's ESPN game we should be inviting every hurricane evacuee and homeless person we can find. I have seen no marketing/advertising campaign promoting this game whatsoever. It will be yet another embarrassment to have a half-empty stadium in front of a national TV audience. On the other hand, a strong performance on the field coupled with a great atmoshpere could do wonders for getting ESPN to return to Denton. Not to mention how it could help our attendance from DFW residents.
  3. Oh, and I want to add that I will be there Tuesday night against Troy with my wife and four friends that I am practically having to beg to go.
  4. So you propose that we all just sit back and enjoy getting our asses kicked and embarrassed week in and week out (in OOC games)?? I'm sorry but I have to disagree that we are not still "doormats". I'm sick of everyone calling us a high school team and saying that we play in a high school conference. No decent D-1 team takes us seriously...and why should they?? We haven't proven that we even belong on the same field with any team that is not in the SBC loser's conference. And I'll agree with your statement that 5 years is not enough time to become an OOC dominator but hell...I'll settle for one OOC win. When I talk about UNT to some of my friends that attended Big XII schools like Tech and Texas, I get these sly little grins...because they're laughing at us and our football program. I even get the same reactions from SMU alumns. It's hard to be proud of accomplishments when they mean so little to majority. When I see teams like UTEP and South Florida moving into better conferences and actually performing well within those conferences, I am envious. What success have they had over the last few years? And what have we done with our success? Yes, I'm pissed, I'm frustrated and I'm tired of being non-competitive. Our biggest win (arguably), over the last several years, was the Baylor game. Why?? Because that gave us some credibility within at least the regional spotlight. Sure we win the SBC every year and go to the New Orleans bowl but where exactly has that gotten us? Has it improved our recruiting?? Not in my opinion. Has it improved our respect?? Not when we get blown out by teams like Tulsa. Have we gotten a new stadium? Nope. I admire your adamant support of this program but you need to get off the backs of people that are expressing their frustration over this team's disappointments. If we continue to be content with mediocrity, we will never be a serious program and we will never improve our position in the NCAA football arena.
  5. Yeah, I posted about this in another thread as well. My big problem is how we keep excusing our QB situation because we have a lack of experience. We accept mediocrity because of inexperience and we are content that our QB is getting better because our receivers dropped some passes. Ballard had thrown one pass as a college QB prior to today. Today he threw for five touchdowns and led the Horned Frogs to an awesome come-from-behind victory. Now I agree that it would be unfair for me to expect that of our starting QB but, after two games, I would like some something better than what I saw today.
  6. I'm watching the end of the TCU-BYU game. TCU's back-up QB had thrown ONE collegiate football pass in his career prior to being put in today's game (I don't what happened to the starter), yet he was able to complete 7 of 11 passes and led TCU to what appears to be a game-winning touchdown and two point conversion. All I keep hearing from the Mean Green nation is that we have inexperienced QBs and we should be happy that Meager is improving by having receivers drop passes. I think we've been treating this QB situation with "kid gloves" and we have the right to expect any inexperienced QB to step in and take over where Scott Hall left off. We've all seen what JQ can do when someone gets him the ball.
  7. Here's our biggest chance to shine in the national spotlight. Let's have a good showing and support the program. Win or lose we need to attend this game.
  8. Ok, I'm going to start it. Meager had some improvement today and, according to the announcers, had several dropped passes. However, he still hasn't done anything that clearly defines him as our #1 guy. Let's give Phillips a start and see what he can do.
  9. I've been thinking about that. It would benefit the university to not let that happen...even if they have to give the tickets away. Does anyone know of any promotions specific to this game that could ensure a sell-out?
  10. That's our high point for today.
  11. I thought the same thing but I had hoped that it was just one bad game and found many positive signs in the fact that we got our butts kicked but still managed a win.
  12. I'll settle for our second offensive touchdown of the season...hell, at this point...I'll settle for a field goal.
  13. I don't want to be too negative, but we may be lucky to see 3-4 wins this season. This team stinks!! We have absolutely no element of surprise and we don't have the talent to overcome our predictability on offense. Our RBs can't do anything with this sorry O-line. I'm starting to wonder if PC is even going to receive enough exposure this year to get drafted by the NFL. We better be recruiting some good OLs, a QB, DLs...looks like we need a whole new team. Ok...I'm done.
  14. 72-0 K-state. prediction made just after the punt return for a TD.
  15. That will likely change on Saturday. I was VERY disappointed and embarrassed with last week's blowout. I should have seen it coming based on our performance in the first week. That being said, the Tulsa game could have been drastically different had we scored that first touchdown on the PC run (called back on a holding penalty). We probably still would have lost but it may not have been as lopsided. I hope our team has learned a lot from their mistakes in the first two games and that we can recover from an unexpected debacle. The good news is that we're still 1-0 in the SBC. Good luck K-State...I hope we can give you a decent game.
  16. I had a connecting flight in Houston yesterday morning. As I looked out the window at 8AM, the outbound lanes of every major highway looked like a parking lot...I still can't understand why the inbound lanes weren't reversed earlier. TSA notified me that only 60 employees of the 350-400 at IAH showed for work on Thursday. Likewise, many of the airport/airlines' employees were absent. I was told that only decaf coffee was available on my flight because the airline was too short-staffed to make both caffeinated and decaf that morning!! My return flight at 6PM also had a connection in Houston but, after hearing that the airport may close early on Thursday due to a lack of employees, I was able to change my return flight. I also know a couple that had planned a weekend trip to Vegas to escape the storm. They live about 30 minutes from the airport on a "normal" drive (about 20 miles). They purchased their tickets for an 8 AM flight and left their house at 3:30 AM. Four and 1/2 hours later (the time the plane was to depart) they had only traveled about 10 miles, so they returned home to wait out the storm. When I returned to Dallas last night, I decided to get some gas since I'd heard many reports that several gas stations south of Dallas were completely out. It was total mayhem. Two gas stations I went to in Dallas (off of the N. Dallas tollway) were completely out. Two others only had one grade available and the lines for those with gas was four to five cars deep, with everyone honking and yelling at each other. I find it simply amazing how easily people seem to panic.
  17. That was 1997 when UT lost to UCLA 66-3 at DKR. The next year it was a bit closer at UCLA (49-31), but still a loss!!
  18. Quinn and Muzzy split out on opposite sides of the field with Thomas and Cobbs in wishbone formation behind Meager who is in shotgun. Lateral pass to Quinn who then runs from the left sideline to the right sideline (behind the backfield) handing off to Muzzy, whom is running from right to left. Muzzy crosses in front of the backfield tossing the ball back to Meager who then fakes the handoff to Thomas and hands off to Cobbs for a double reverse, flee flicker draw play netting -30 yards!!
  19. If we punt on first down, we can avoid those 4th and longs, provided any penalties we incur don't include a loss of down.
  20. I also blame Joey Byerly.
  21. I was wondering the same thing. I checked the box score and the last scores in the 4th quarter were a long run for a TD and a long fumble return for a TD. So, it doesn't appear they were playing Texas Tech=style football.
  22. Yes, but even Tulane didn't get embarrassed like we did!!!
  23. Honestly....we got lucky against MUTS...that luck was not present against TULSA.
  24. This was. by far, THE MOST embarrassing loss of my lifetime!!!!!!
