  1. LOL... Yes, actually I do feel a little better now. Maybe one more day of bitterness before putting on my green-tinted glasses and getting myself psyched for the La Tech game.
  2. Wow!! I was surprised about that too. Then I looked at their two victories, Hawaii (CFN #99) and New Mexico State (#115). Our two victories are against MUTS (#94) and FIU (#114). We may be ranked too high but it does give me some hope!!
  3. It comes from the frustration of being a sh@#ty team in a sh@#ty conference and having sh@#ty excuses about why we suck. How many other conferences can say, year in and year out, that their conference champion is going to a bowl game even though they won zero OOC games??? Yeah, we beat Baylor one year...so what??? We don't deserve to go to the bowl game this year and neither does anyone else in the S(h@#ty) B(ut) C(ontent). We'd just embarrass and humiliate ourlselves further. Besides, we're too young and inexperienced to win a conference title, much less a bowl game. I thought of another name for the bowl game: The Trash Can - sponsored by Glad or Hefty...they could bring back that commercial, "Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy" (while showing highlights of the SBC participant) and then "Hefty, hefty, hefty" while showing highlights of the CUSA 4th place team that will win the game.
  4. When do 13 T/Os account for 27 total points??? That's an easy one...whenever UNT slugs it out and crushes another SBC powerhouse of course!!
  5. The obvious thought is "The Toilet Bowl" - sponsored by Lysol or Tidy Bowl, but here are a few others: The Depression Bowl - sponsored by US Association of Psychiatrists The Loser's Bowl - sponsored by NBC's "The Biggest Loser" The Turkey Bowl - sponsored by US Poultry Industry The Average Joe Bowl - sponsored by ABC's "The Avergage Joe" The Ham Bowl - sponsored by Pork - the other white meat The Hooter's Bowl - sponsored by Hooters - might be the only way to get a TV audience The Suck Bowl - sponsored by Blow-Pop suckers
  6. Got any links for updated stats??
  7. Boooooo.....Hisssssssss!!!!!!!
  8. Those were the two plays that immediately came to mind, without doing any research. As far as "big plays" go...they don't get any bigger than an INT returned 99 yards for a TD. Opponents obviously have to convert 3rd downs to get into the red zone. I wasn't debating the fact that opponents have moved the ball at will against our defense but I do think we need to give our D a little credit for that "bend but don't break" attitude...in the first half anyway. The defense is so tired by the second half that they couldn't stop a pee wee team.
  9. Excellent!! That's the kind of confidence I like to see. I certainly hope we can get our running game going. ASU had two back with 100+ yards so we should definitely be able to equal that.
  10. Let's see...Baylor is building a new practice gym for the basketball teams. That price tag is $7.9M: Basketball Practice Facility Approved By Regents State-of-the-art facility to be in place for 2006-2007 season. Sept. 9, 2005 WACO, Texas - Baylor University's Board of Regents today approved plans for a basketball practice facility for the men's and women's basketball programs. Ground-breaking is expected to begin October 1 on the new $7.9 million state-of-the-art facility. The building, which totals nearly 43,000 square feet, will be an addition to the Ferrell Center which has been home to Baylor basketball since 1988. "I am grateful to the Board of Regents and our generous donors for making this project a reality," director of athletics Ian McCaw said. "The basketball practice facility will be one of the finest in the nation and will be consistent with the status that our basketball programs have and will reach. This advances one of our highest priorities within the Victory With Integrity Campaign, however, we have much yet to accomplish." The project is expected to be completed by August in time for the 2006-2007 season and will be a boost for both the men's and women's basketball programs. The new facility will alleviate scheduling conflicts that currently remove the teams from training on the lone existing court during various campus events hosted at the Ferrell Center. "I know our basketball staff is extremely excited about the addition of a new practice facility," men's coach Scott Drew said. "We know it will make a difference in recruiting and player development. And we thank all the Baylor faithful for once again stepping up to help us reach our goals in the endeavor. Being part of the Baylor family is truly special." Included in plans for the facility are two full-size practice courts, a 6,600-square foot full-service strength and conditioning center, office suites for the coaching staffs, an entry plaza, a VIP suite and a display corridor. "I am excited and grateful that the basketball practice facility has been given approval by the Board of Regents," women's coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said. "It is a facility that is much needed. With a basketball specific facility, we will never be displaced by other events. The new building will help us not only in our daily preparations but will be a tremendous asset in our recruiting of top-caliber student-athletes."
  11. Well, that's just the number I have in mind. Would you expect us to beat a D-II school by less than 10 points? I view FIU as only a few steps higher than a D-II school.
  12. Head coach Don Strock...as in the former Miami Dolphins (mostly back-up) QB?? Somehow, I must have missed that little fact.
  13. Those were my exact same thoughts when reading his quotes. He's not exactly beaming with confidence is he?? I'm also curious about our game plan...did we prepare to play against "Florida schools" who, by the way, "have a lot of speed" or did we prepare to play specifically against Florida International University???
  14. At the beginning of this season, I never would have dreamed the outcome of this week's game would be in question. If we win this game by anything fewer than 10 points, then I'm going to be really disappointed. We simply HAVE to win this game or this program will suffer it's biggest set-back in five years.
  15. I have to dismiss the entire article after reading that comment. Has this writer actually watched any of our games or is he basing everything entirely off of the statistics? Our defense has done plenty to stop big drives. How about the 99-yard interception for a touchdown against MUTS and the 1st quarter interception in our own endzone last week against Troy??
  16. I don't know that Kentucky has a whole lot of respect to risk losing...not for their football program anyway. As for Leach; what would he stand to gain by going to Kentucky??
  17. Not to mention that Florida routinely has 3 D1 schools ranked in the Top 10 at any given time. Texas generally only has one. Add in the other Florida distractions like the beach and weekend trips to the Bahamas and I imagine their attendance challenges are every bit as difficult as ours. I know we don't have recruits lining up and down I-35 to play football at UNT, but I think someone is trying to make his job sound more difficult than it is. As a coach, sure...the grass is definitely greener in Miami, but I'm not buying this crap about how it's easier to start from scratch and succeed at FIU than it is at UNT. I hope this is not a pre-game excuse to why we lost to FIU.
  18. I'm just curious who made the comments that are quoted at the end of the Eagles Report: Strategy and Personnel section: It appears to be Dickey and, if that's the case, is he saying that it's MUCH easier to succeed at FIU???
  19. The youngest of Fritz's five sons was Chris and he was 5'5", 160 at age 21. I'm no Von Erich historian but I found a very informative website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Adkisson Kevin is listed at 6'2", so maybe Ross is still growing, but he's currently listed on Ryan's roster at 5'9": http://old.dentonisd.org/rhs/ath/football/rosters.html Their family has endured much more than their fair share of hard times so I wish nothing but the best for Kevin and Ross.
  20. Zach Thomas is a middle linebacker, not a defensive end.
  21. WOW!!!....reading that article sort of feels like I'm talking to myself. Medpilot...I don't think anyone is necessarily ready to "pull the plug" on Meager but we've given him 4 games to show what he's capable of doing...now we want to see what Phillips' abilities are. I'll be the first one to give Meager his dues if he starts performing the way everyone keeps saying he can. But, in the meantime, the season is wasting away and the entire offense looks like dog doo doo because we don't have a serious passing threat. I've watched last week's game four times now and each time I cringe whenever Meager misses the wide open Brandon Jackson screen pass that was mentioned in this article. That was a FIVE-YARD pass that could have gained at least 20 yards and put us well within Trojan territory. The very next series is when our defense had Troy in a 4th and 41 situation before the big muff. That set the tone of the game, even though we were given several other opportunites by Troy. All I keep hearing is how many passes Meager has had dropped but I guarantee that for every dropped pass he's had, he's thrown twice as many horrible passes. And the thing that really gets me is that it seems the shorter the pass is, the more inaccurate it is.
  22. At 5'9" and 180 pounds, he's a little undersized to play DE in college...even for North Texas.
  23. Getting into the Halloween spirit....our bus is one of those yellow school buses and I'm having visions of "A Nightmare on Elm Street: Part ??" where Freddie Krueger was behind the wheel and the bus went flying off of a cliff.
  24. 61 votes in and nearly half want to see Phillips in some capacity this week. If you factor in those who said Phillips should only play if Meager is not performing well (which IMHO he hasn't all season) then that number is well over 50%. Considering this week's opponent, this is probably the most ideal opportunity of the season for Phillips to see extended PT. I sure hope someone from DD's staff is taking notes and give the alumni/fan base what they want to see. At the very least, I hope they consider taking the reigns off of Meager and let him utilize some of his athletic ability I've been hearing so much about.
  25. This says something about our program. What exactly?? I have no idea. But if I'm a high school recruit and I'm told not to tell anyone that UNT is recruiting me, I'll probably do just the opposite.
