  1. I think you're assuming an awful lot in thinking the QB position would be solidified (and not open for competition) for the next two years, even if both transfers do come to UNT.
  2. Definitely, recruiting for all positions should continue right up until the LOI is signed.
  3. A little info on UCLA to help Nick make his decision ;): Uncertainty with Head Coach (OC already left) Jim Mora has been reportedly "trying hard" to get an NFL job (ironically enough, Kevin Sumlin is mentioned in the same tweet). Mora has since confirmed his commitment to UCLA, but for how long is anyone's guess. Josh Rosen, the 2015 #1 nationally-ranked QB (per Rivals, 24/7 Sports and Scout) started as a true Freshman and seems firmly entrenched as the Bruins QB for the next three years. His 2015 stats, and a comment from Jim Mora: Josh Rosen is a “generational” quarterback UCLA already has one top-ranked (#20, per Rivals) QB committed for 2016 in Matt Lynch. There have been several top UCLA commits to de-commit in the last few months: Oluwole Bituke, Sean Auwae, Chris Gaston and Bailey Raborn For me, personally, the deciding factor to not go to UCLA would be the proximity of TMZ reporters: Josh Rosen hot tub removed
  4. Not at all. National signing day is Feb 3. By announcing on the 2nd, it gives less time for other schools to try to talk him out of his decision...again.
  5. Talented 2016 QB down to four schools Love how this reporter all but dismisses the idea of him going anywhere other but A & M or UCLA.
  6. Sounds like someone is his family is trying to talk him out of coming to UNT.
  7. I believe we're in the NCAA-designated dead period until January 13, so I wouldn't expect any visits, (written and electronic communication is fine) to occur until next Thursday, at the earliest.
  8. Poor timing on UTSA's part = good news in recruiting battles for us.
  9. If this board put half as much energy into pushing our football program to be better as we do in complaining about the story of how we got the name Mean Green, NTSU vs UNT or what school colors our former QB is wearing, we might actually make some progress some day.
  10. Why is this even a thread?
  11. I've never been a fan of the JUCO route. We need to make QB the top recruiting priority this year and not be afraid to let a true Freshman start if he's the option we have and make that our sales pitch. From what I've seen of our current QBs, it shouldn't be too difficult to sell a Freshman on immediate playing time. Unlike P5 programs, we don't need to be concerned about our players leaving early for the NFL. We may have to endure a season of mistakes and learning the college games, but it will pay off in years 2, 3 and 4. Our best seasons have been when we've had a senior starter (Scott Hall, Derek Thompson) that has 2-3 seasons of starting experience.
  12. Here we go again... I "got behind" the last two hires even though I didn't fully support the decision to hire them. I'm not doing that, "just because that's what good fans do" this time. The only thing I can really get behind with this program is firing RV. Whoever the next coach is will have to earn my support.
  13. Is that called giving the bird or opening the kimono? Happy Thanksgiving
  14. I believe he's making $900K at ASU, but Mike Norvell would be my top choice right now too.
  15. Thank you Coach Chico. I really enjoyed the post-game interview. It's clear to me that you have a lot of passion and commitment for this program.
  16. Good post Harry. I'm tired of hearing all the excuses for why a good candidate wouldn't dare come here too. In fact, I started writing a similar list last week, but got sidetracked before I could finish it. I'll post my list in this thread later.
  17. Bethune-Cookman?? Sounds like a name for a funeral parlor. And I thought it couldn't get any worse than Incarnate Word, Lamar, Liberty or Abilene Christian. Nothing screams big time football like having those schools on our schedule.
  18. Nice try Harry. I'm not falling for your reverse psychology.
  19. I honestly thought you were joking about these... Sadly, a quick check on fbschedules.com confirms that you were not. WTF are we doing scheduling games against these schools? Incarnate Word, are you effing kidding me? Talk about a fire-able offense.
  20. Baylor QB Seth Russell suffers broken neck against Iowa State (Updated) Tough break (no pun intended) if this ends his season and the Bears shot at a national title.
  21. Hilltoppers are in it to win it.
  22. I've seen a lot of positive things in the two games Chico has been head coach. Still not happy with losing and I'm not endorsing him, but I do like how he has handled the team. There has been marked improvement and he's managed a few bad situations pretty well, IMHO. The 2nd half onsides kick didn't work but I do applaud the attempt.
