  1. Some years back Arizona State had a similiar problem with the lower seats. They whacked off the bottom five or six rows. Funny thing, they left the row numbers the same! We have the problem of being too fart from the field (was that a typo?) Actually the best seats are down the 30 yard line if I remember correctly. Has anything changed?
  2. Were the SUNS awesome in Game 7 or what!!! Nash was his usual all-Star self but Diaz and especially Leandro Barbosa were fantastic! Those two guys coming off the bench put the Lakers out of it. The whole town here is pumped regardless of how the next round goes.
  3. If any of you NT "Brothers" live out west, stop by Rubios and try the fish tacos and beans, chips, etc. with a bottle of Corona and you'll sing their praises! Rubio himself picked up the style down in San Felipe in Baja and has expanded outlets around the West.
  4. Attaway's plane crash was about four miles west of my house in NW Phoenix. I was out of town at the time but glad he didn't hit my swimming pool! Its just warmed up enough to keep from freezing and the North Texas T-Shirt hanging out on the back of one of the lounging chairs at the pool would let him know he was welcome. Where was I? Buying one of the new Eagle ball caps and a new t-shirt at Voertmans with our daughter and grandson. The grandson just turned 13 and he's already over 6 feet tall and 220#. I've taken him to NT football games for exposure. I think he understands he is being indoctrinated!
  5. Dallas Hillcrest Panthers 1955. We had a big rivalry with South Oak Cliff since both schools were entering the Dallas City schools in athletics. I'll bet GGII remembers this rivalry!
  6. Am witch chew mon!
  7. I saw some guys at lunch from Honeywell that were wearing badge neckbands with their old school names. One guy with an Ohio State one I approached and told him about the new jerseys. He immediately paid attention as he hadn't hear about it but said that was the first thing he would look into when he got back to the office. He hadn't heard about the color change. He looked concerned!
  8. I can understand how they could move, with those gators chomping at your butt!!!!
  9. I can understand how they could move, with those gators chomping at your butt!!!!
  10. I think it was '57 and we were playing Hardin Simmons. Nice crowd if I remember. I had a couple of frat bros from OU with me.
  11. Well, I'll just sit out here in Phoenix where we have eight spring training teams playing. It's fun to sit out in the grass areas in Center Field and drink a little something. The baseball season is so long that individual games aren't really that critical.. The Rangers are putting up a fight for now, while the "points don't count."
  12. When I went to school there Denton County was DRY! I made my spending money bootlegging stuff from Dallas. No clubs but our friends had some good times with booze at the many apartments surrounding the campus. (Will they take away my diploma for printing this!)
  13. I'd even consider Fresno State. They have very attractive sports venues for football and basketball. They have a football coach that won't back down and strong fan support because of it. It is a state school, officially the California State U at Fresno. It's sort of the ag school in the state. Most of the money for the facilities were donated from local businesses. They have to compete with USC, UCLA, and others but they play an exciting brand of football. That's kinda what we want for our school!
  14. Is "damn yankees" one word or two?
  15. My favorite environment for football and baseball is the home field of the San Francisco Giants. There are great sight lines, the stands are steeply inclined, the food and drink options are first rate, and you are right by the Bay with boats galore!
  16. The Suns are just a better team and they are showing it now. When Stodamare gets back into the lineup it will be the end of the Mavs dreams for the playoffs!
  17. We could use some of that rain out here in Central Arizona. It hasn't rained here since October 2005. I know this feeds into the joke about the Phoenix lady visiting friends over in California. She calls home and says, "You know that stuff that flows in the irrigation canals. Well, it falls right out of the sky here!"
  18. As I recall, Kansas State always used to schedule more than one 1-AA every year to build the record.
  19. Years ago I had very close inside connections with the Cowboys (married into family) and knew how they would arrange with certain players that they would be drafted in later rounds. It was all kept secret (I knew this from the team's corporate pilot and others.) Don't know if they still do that but wouldn't be surprised. Some were even "clued in" before they graduated college!
  20. I used to live there and in Rio Rancho NM. Lots of interesting restaurants, scenery, hiking, and history there. I enjoyed it a lot and took a youth football team to the state championship game at the UNM stadium where the bowl game would be played. Won it, by the way.
  21. I was attending NTSC in '57, 58,59 and January of '60. I remember those great teams and driving down to Houston to watch us play the Cougars. It has always been difficult for me to accept the current status of sports after being there for a real "Golden Age" of success.
  22. .....If you were watching when we went to punt on fourth down against OU some years ago, and the punter forget to come out on the field. But we snapped the ball back anyway!
  23. It would appear that all the Branding changes are just a distraction from what really needs to changed. All the color changes won't do a thing to improve the product on the field. Priorities, priorities, etc. We don't need new shades of green except at the ticket office window. Try winning more on the field then worry about shades of green.
  24. Wear a raincoat with cap so that after you say loudly, "We are being outcoached!" you won't get spit on. Comments like that only "hurt" when it's true. Calling plays isn't "rocket science." But a sense of humor doesn't hurt if you're brave enough to call a Draw play on 3rd and 15. Someone needs to explain the theory of "3 and out."
  25. Been copying PMG's style of mini-series with every post? WAC vs. Sunbelt can be argued every day but I find that trips to Reno and Fresno are more entertaining than visiting the 1-AA upstarts in the Sunbelt.
