  1. Come on people. What is it you want? You finally get a new coach and your aren't happy about the recruits that want to come and play for a proven coach because of their size. How many of you have been through the recruiting process? Be happy because we are getting young men who want to come and try to play D1 football because of the reputation of the new coach. Why can't you be positive? Many of you wanted a new HC? You got that! Many of you want more recruits from the metroplex. You are getting that and yet you are whinning and complaining about their size and their ability to play D1. Give me a break! Show some faith in Todd Dodge and his new staff. Let them be the judge of talent, size and speed before you go spouting off. Jeesh. Coach Dodge hasn't even held his first practice nor is the recruiting season over and some of you are already questioning EVERYTHING.

Derek Lewis coming to NT was on the local news in Austin this evening. I was impressed with the fact they not only showed Todd Dodge's picture, they used the new logo as well.
  3. A lot of the players would like the same thing!
  4. First, I don't believe you really talked to a player parent. The player parents, former and current that I know don't go around talking about "team things" with non player parents. Thus I used the word embellish because usually when a player parent talks to someone like you, it is absolutely amazing what ends up on this board that a player parent supposedly said which isn't any where near what was said. Moot point now. The coaches are gone and what some of you once again didn't think about when "providing info and exposing" is the impact it has on the boys on the team. A lot of people posting on this board talk about being fans and feeling bad for the boys, blah, blah, blah but in the end your actions and your postings don't show that. The last several weeks have been very difficult on the boys on the North Texas football team especially the Seniors. There is a lot of uncertainty going on in their football lives. You only aggravate it when you "expose" so called happenings. Show some respect for these boys especially the Seniors. They have provided Saturday entertainment for many of you. They deserve so much better especially from "fans." I knew when I posted it was going to be twisted around to suit someone's position and you proved me correct. BUT... I know how many of the boys felt when they heard what was being said on this board about situations and coaches. When they needed the support and respect of "fans" they got the usual negative feeding frenzy from this board.
  5. , and then last but not least it desribes the fight between RF and the wr coach, as RF putting the wr coach in a headlock during halftime of a the FAU game. If someone on this board had not posted what a so called player's parent told them about a fight in the locker room then the press would know NOTHING about so called fight. To set the record straight, RF DID NOT have the WR coach in a headlock. Either the so called player parent embellished the story or the person who posted the story embellished. I have talked to numerous people who were in the locker room when this supposedly happened, and IT DIDN'T!!!!! Some responsiblity for the bad press that UNT and UNT athletics is getting needs to be taken by people on this board who are posting stuff like the above story. Of course, the media reads fan sites. On a slow news day they go looking for dirt and when it comes to UNT football, they know they can always find dirt whether true or not on this board.l
  6. You people don't know Etheridge. He can only coach what is called and expected by the play calling. Do any of you really understand the bad position Brewster was put in this past week?
  7. My question is not who can play center, we have an 11 game starter in Chad Rose, it's who can step up and be his back-up. Rose did not play in the scrimmage so all of those center exchange problems were with Drake, Pistolli, and Glass. Let's just hope that Rose is back soon and does not get injured again.
  8. They showed Awasom last night at the Giants training camp.
  9. You aren't going to find anything close to the stadium for under $125 a night and alot of those are going to be booked soon. Try the Arboretum area 183, MoPac, Capitol of Texas Hwy (360). There is a Marriott Courtyard, Residence Inn and several other places in that area that might be less than $125 a night. There is a Holiday Inn at 183 and MoPac as well. The closer you get to downtown and the stadium the more it is going to be.
  10. I posted this several times before but I am going to post this again. There are numerous things in place for students athletes to succeed at UNT. I know some of you don't and won't believe this but the football coaches including Coach Dickey are known to be standing outside the classrooms of football players' classes to check to see if they are coming to class. The athletes are required every several weeks to have their professors sign off on attendance and grades that the athlete HAS to personal hand to the professor and have signed. These are turned in to the coaches. Freshman are REQUIRED to attend 8 hours of mandatory study hall each week. Upperclassmen with low GPAs from the previous semester are REQUIRED to attend mandatory study hall as well. If they miss, then they run. Tudors and study groups are available. It is up to the althlete to utilize them. Now, having said all of that, The athletes have the responsibility of taking care of their academic business. After all they have been given the PRIVILEGE of playing Division 1-A football.
  11. It's closer to fly into Cleveland. Cleveland is about 40 miles from Akron. We got our tickets on American for $364 from DFW to Cleveland.

    BUSTED!

Oh yeah, and the "We fully support Ramonce and will conduct our own internal investigation (which will lead to nothing)" statement from either Deloss Dodds or Mack Brown should be forthcoming any day now. ←
  14. Anyone's thoughts? I think this is an excellent idea. I think you will also find that some of the players would be willing and would like to contribute to the Andrew Smith Scholarship fund as well.
  15. Considering the Tuesday night game with Troy was our highest attendance of the year
  16. . It's people like you that need to be weeded out. If you don't act a little foolish at a ballgame WE DON'T NEED YOU! STAY HOME! HMMMMMM!!!!!! Half of the posters on this board bemoan filling the stadium with fans after a loss. Now we have a poster who thinks posters that disagree with behavior at a football game and voice their opinion need to be weeded out and stay home. Just trying to get a grasp of the GMG rules!
  17. When you transfer from one D1 school to another you HAVE to sit out a year. You can go through 2 a days and practice during that year but you cannot play in a game for a year. That is my understanding of the Elmore situation.
  18. What I forgot to saying about recruiting! The best recruiting experience we had was with UNT. The coaches were honest and upfront the ENTIRE time. To this day, they have kept their word about everything they said to us during the recruiting process.
  19. Being a recruit is a nightmare. Unless you have lived through it and been a part of it, you can't even imagine the mind games adult coaches play with 17/18 year old boys. Having said that, for all of you who have said UNT has not recruited well, look at the bios of the current UNT team. The majority of these players were the best of the best in their districts. Some were from 5A, some were 2A but the point is they were the BEST in their high schools and their districts. Many of them not only hold school records but hold district and state records. So, now I have to ask, are they not good enough because they didn't earn 4 or 5 stars from Rivals.com? Do any of you know how Rivals.com rates players? If you do, please let the rest of us in on the big secret. Having asked several people at Rivals.com how they rate recruits, none of them could actually tell me what the process was or how they picked who was 4 stars or who was 2 stars. I have my suspensions. I actually know someone who was a 5 star Rivals.com recruit at a Big 12 school. That lasted 6 months. He is now playing at a D1-AA school. A Rivals.com 4 or 5 star rating does not make anyone a BSC football player.
  20. Thanks for the hospitality at the Greenbacker tent. Some of the football parents decided not to bring food this kind because of Adler's invitation to be a part of this tailgating experience. The burgers and the conversations were great!
  21. Great posts today, MeanGreenPop. Could possibly be recruits too!
