  1. Since the topic is Dodge pulls a Darrell Dickey, I am going to add my 2 cents worth. Dodge DID NOT pull a Darrell Dickey. Dickey allowed the players to wear black jerseys because a group of Seniors went to him and asked if they could wear all black for the last game. Dodge BURNED a freshman's redshirt to save himself. There's a big difference in your motives being for yourself and for your players. To radiogreen and Cr1028 it is a BIG DEAL to have your redshirt burned when you are a college athlete. Dodge is all about himself. What true D1 football coach would go to a game without his 3rd string quarterback and bring the freshman quarterback? Please, some of you diehard Dodge supporters explain that one.
  2. I would like to see assistant athletic director Hank Dickenson involved in the process of finding the next coach. Hank makes it a point of knowing the players. He understands the players and they really like and RESPECT Hank as well.
  3. Read the Austin American Statesman every game day Saturday and Sunday after a game. A Texas assistant coache(s) are quoted all the time along with players.
  4. That is just too logical of a statement for a lot of people to understand.
  5. Emmitt, your post made me laugh out loud not only because it is funny but there is a lot truth in what you said.
  6. Why do you think it is the AD that can't fill out the paperwork? I think it is the Head Coach's responsibility to fill out the paperwork for a medical redshirt and it needs the signature of the AD. If the Head Coach doesn't get the paperwork to the AD then the AD can't sign it.
  7. Tre Newton is actually playing and getting a lot of press in Austin.

  9. Anyone can testify at a hearing. You have to sign up to speak. If there aren't a lot of people in the committee chambers, you can sit in there and watch and listen to the testimony and any questions that the committee members may have for the person testifying. If there a lot of people, there will be an overflow room with a close circut feed.
  10. Reasons why a bill is left pending in committee: add on other projects or combine with another bill ( possibly combine with UNT law school bill or UNT-Dallas enrollment bill) in order to have one UNT bill rewrite or reword die a slow death
  11. It's not just revenue. It also has to do with Title IX, federal law. So, in order to have baseball, what sport(s) for females are you going to add to balance it out?
  12. Once a bill is filled it is sent to a committee which in this cause will probably be the higher education committee which is chaired by Sen. Kirk Watson-Austin. Once the committee looks over the bill, it will then be placed on the calendar or sent to the calendar committee to be introduced on the Senate floor be debate, discussion and vote. It is in committee when other things get tacked on. This may not be a stand only bill. It could come with other higher education issues attached.
  13. I would like to refresh everyone's memory that Dodge could have had more than 2 weeks to recruit if he hadn't chosen to coach the high school all star game that is played at the conclusion of the state championship games. That is a tired excuse and just another for Dodge to add to his list of why it is the players' fault and never his. Honestly, if he had truly committed himself to the University of North Texas, recruiting would and should have been his #1 priority.
  14. Joseph was told several weeks after his injury by Dodge that he would not apply for a medical redshirt for JM. As much as JM has given to UNT you would think he would be shown some respect, the medical redshirt applied for and if it was turned down than so be it. In the end, this could be better since JM could have gotten his medical redshirt and ridden the bench next year like a lot of Srs. have done the past 2 years. Dodge used JM to be his voice and face of the players during the discrimination episode. Now JM is no longer useful to Dodge so it is time for him to go. I hope for nothing but the best for Joseph Miller and all the other young men who have been screwed by Dodge. They have shown the younger players what committment, honor, character and class truly looks like.
  15. Or at least post a notice on the meangreensports.com that there wasn't going to be a coach's show. After all, this is the age of the internet and websites.
  16. Espcecially since everyone knows what kind of player Miller is and it appears some the JUCO defensive players being recruited are going elsewhere.
  17. You cannot do an internet search. You can research on the internet how to do a written FOIA request. It has to be in writing and you have to be very specific what you are requesting. UNT/Ahtletic Department will have a certain amount of time to reply to the request. There could possibly be a charge for the man hours and the printing. If your request is turned down, they have to give in writing their reasons for turning down your request.
  18. I would think that Dr. B., the BOR and the Development Department are waiting for the vote by the Legislature on the increase in the student fee. That vote could happen any time from the beginning of the session to the end of the session. Sometimes it's all in who you know and who knows you. I don't think everyone should be getting excited about a new stadium until the Legislature votes. Politics can be an ugly thing.
  19. Why don't these players leave? 1. EDUCATION 2. When they signed a letter of intent to play football for the University of North Texas, they made a COMMITTMENT TO the Univeristy of North Texas. Signing that letter of intent is like signing a contract. 3. They are not quitters. 4. They have more CLASS than Dodge and his staff
  20. Who knows? Dickey could be the next HC at Utah St.
  21. Yes!
  22. Sports Authority carries athletic shorts in "kelly" green.
  23. Has anyone else noticed "our" coaches go up to and come down from the press box the other side from where Silver Eagle sits? I am so disappointed.
  24. Good observation. Coaching staff gives up on the upperclassmen who have experience and leadership. Younger players give up on coaching staff because they are busy looking over their shoulders wondering when the coaching staff will give up on them. Also asking themselves is this what is going to happen to me when I become an upperclassmen?
