Could the scheduled team meeting that was cancelled have been to announce to the team the Dodge was gone, and then Dodge changed RV's mind in the meeting? If so, RV may be tying his future to Dodge's future. I love what RV has done for this program, but I don't know if he survives next year if he recommends Dodge's return and we only win 3 games (which I think is optomistic).

I don't think my conscience would allow me to watch every single one of my assistants be held accountable for poor performance while I suffered no consequences, but that is just me. That would imply you abide by them or don't come back. At this point, I think the trigger needs to be pulled and we need to start over.

I can write an article that says exactly the opposite. The devil is in the details, of which none are provided. But, just look at the way they label anyone who doesn't agree with them in this article. You can almost read the hatred between the lines for anyone who disagrees with them. That is not science.

Don't forget punt unit blocking and vertical passing game, both huge weaknesses again this year. So thats special teams, defense, and part of the offense. A lot to fix in a year, especially when it hasn't been fixed in the last three. A lot of the yards were negated by failures/turnovers in the red zone. I think a better measure of the offense is scoring offense. Granted, we improved by about 6 points a game this year (to around 26ppg), but still huge problems in short yardage situations/red zone/turnovers. I lack the faith in Coach Dodge to fix these thing. 3 years, and we still can't kick a PAT. That's pretty basic football, but we can't seem to get it done. That is coaching, plain and simple. Every day that goes by without an announcement, one way or another, hurts this program. And yes, if Dodge stays, an anouncement does need to be made, due mainly to Dodges comments on the fact that he didn't know if he would be back. This is Day 1. Notre Dame already made it's decision public. Probably made the actual decision a couple of weeks age. Have we made our decision? If so, why not announce it today? So, which is more likely, Dodge to have a 300% improvement (win 8 games, like some over optimistic on here are predicting) or a new coach to have a 200% improvement? My money is on the new coach. As a matter of fact, I feel better about the new coach producing more victories next year than Coach Dodge. And I don't even know who the new coach will be.
