Again, 6'4" 250lbs with a frame to add more weight. Interestingly enough, also has very good hands, but probably too slow for a TE at the college level, as he runs a 4.9 40, I believe. This kid hardly camped at all last year and is starting this year for the first time (although was in the rotation last year). We all saw what King Newton can do as a true freshman for UTSA. That's who Zack was behind last year. No shame in that. I'm not a talent evaluator, especially on interior line play, but I do see a kid that is getting double and triple teamed and still holding his ground. I also see a kid that doesn't give up on pursuit. I honestly don't know how he translated to the college level, but I do know that K St. has invited him up for a visit and he has started receiving mail from some other lower level schools. He would be interested in staying close to home, I would think, and I know he is friends with one other player at UNT. Just needs to keep playing his rear off.

Highlights finally up.

King Newton dominated our line last night, changing the game with a forced fumble at the end of the first half. That's who Zack backed up last year. Another big game for Zack Friday night. I hope our coaching staff is paying attention. https://m.soundcloud.com/user-129175403/pp-ld-bell-2-silky-semrak-1?utm_source=soundcloud&utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=facebook

Scheduling Tweet from Wren Baker: Syracuse?
UNT90 replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
There is a double standard. It's Harry's board, and he can do with it what he likes, but I'm out for now. When a mod bullies someone, it sends the message that it's fine for others to do so. And when nothing is done about it, it sends the message you aren't wanted. Which is fine. It's Harry's board. See you guys at the tailgate and in the stadium. Meanwhile, enjoy no counter opinions and a bunch of rah rah rah sis boom ba. Oh, and I expect Cerebus to delete these messages. Lol.- 95 replies

Scheduling Tweet from Wren Baker: Syracuse?
UNT90 replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
Look, dumbass fan base, there are ways out of contracts. Baker, who is a legit AD, knows this. I wish you MFers would expect more than being crapped on consistently by your AD, but old habits die hard, don't they? This fan base has Stockholm syndrome so bad it isn't even funny. I'll exit stage left before being bullied off the board again by a mod drunk with Internet power. That would be Cerebus. Doubt I'll be back. But, I'll leave y'all with this last thought. Try to expect what every other major Texas university expects. Try to EXPECT MORE! Harry, call me if Wren Baker turns into Rick Villareal (probably, hopefully, never happens) Until then, keep pretending everything is fine and just being happy with the crumbs thrown your way. Adios, Mofos.- 95 replies

Zack had a very nice game against Trinity last night despite being double teamed all game. Southlake won 42-28. Zack had a QB pressure that led to an interception late in the game. Zack backed up King Newton last year, Newton is starting for UTSA as a freshman. K State is in contact and has asked him to come up for a visit. This is an under the radar recruit who has an interest in UNT. Here is his radio interview after the game: IMG_3097.mov

None of that pesky "give back to the community and do a dangerous, thankless job for incredibly low pay" either, eh?

DRC: breaking - Consultants report critical of UNT
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Back on topic. Wag Tag's assumptions are the same crazy assumptions everyone made about RV. It's why the report was what it was. But, ya, keep on doing the same thing. What could possibly go wrong? -

MGB: Baker hires third top level administrator
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I get it, but I think the savings of doing athletics on the cheap for 40 years should more than cover the salary and benefit packages for a few years. I mean, if you want to look at it that way... -
MGB: Baker hires third top level administrator
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
If you want a professional department, you have to hire professional leaders. We have gone the good ole boy route and seen the calamity it caused. Money well spent, unless you want WB's bestie running the AD's finances., If you haven't read the entire report, I encourage you to do so. I doubt you will question these expenditures after that reading.- 39 replies

MGB: Baker hires third top level administrator
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Right, so we should just do what we have always done, eh? Jesus people. The answer is simple. If he doesn't produce, you can his ass. And you don't wait for 15 years of suck to occur before doing so. What you fail to see (or just don't want to admit) is the complete lack of effort by the last AD. How do you know Baker hasn't already raised money to more than cover these salaries? This is the attitude that has led to UNT being the laughing stock of FBS athletics in Texas. It's also the reason UNT has one of the lowest endowments of any FBS university of its size and age in the country. But by all means, let's keep doing what we have always done.- 39 replies

DRC: breaking - Consultants report critical of UNT
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
That's why you hire a guy who can raise money. The last guy had a very small circle from which he sought donations. We have all heard about the silo mentality in the report by now. I would hope and expect Baker to widen that donor base considerably. I think we see an AD fundraising initiative announced in pretty short order. I think the RV lovers will be shocked at the amount of money raised in Baker's first year on the job. Will this help them work through their denial? Doubtful, as denial is the strongest human emotion. -

This is correct. What I do like is that if Baker starts turning this thing around and gets a big job in 3-5 years, we have a able replacement inside the AD ready to take over (the former ACU AD). But the president, BOR, and Chancellor are the main sticking points. Thank God Dallas Lee and his terrible legacy are almost out. His replacement needs to be pro athletics (not pro-Dallas). Smatresk seems to get it, even if he solves obvious problems (Rick Villarreal) at a snail's pace. But he will probably only be at UNT another 3 or 4 years. Those two replacements will decide what we become athletically. -

Yes, let's continue the tradition of believing we are hiding our ineptitude from the masses, when in actuality they se it continually on the field. Opposing players see it in our facilities when they visit for a game. And, of course, what we have done the last 15 years has worked so damn well, why change one damn thing, right? Madness. You know what will matter to recruits? UNT not being the joke of FBS football in Texas. UNT showing they are taking steps to correct the problems in this report: UNT proving they are FINALLY serious about athletics. Recruit: "Coach, I read that report online." (Chances of this actually happening < 1%). Coach: "Oh ya?" Recruit: "Ya, I read your locker rooms were so bad that you didn't let recruits see them." Coach: "Funny you should say that. Even before the report was published, the university was made aware of the problem by the authors of the report. You know what this university did? They took it seriously and did a complete remodel of the locker rooms. We are about to go take a look. But before we do, let me ask you, what other university that is recruiting you cares enough about it's program to audit it, find and publish problems, and then immediately fix as many of those problems as possible? Because that's what we are doing at UNT. Things are changing at UNT. Do you want to be a part of that change, son? Or do you want to go to a university that hides all of its problems until they get your signature and you have no options? Everything about this program is transparent for you to see. Just something to think about."- 241 replies

They have something like a sports plus package that gets you all the Fox Sports channels (SW, NE, etc...), among others. Tell them what you are looking for and they will get you hooked up. Also, a side tip. When you get your remote, you can program in your favorite teams for all sports. Once they are programmed in, simply press (on your remote) menu, use the arrows on the remote to scroll down to "search and browse," use the arrow to scroll over to "Sports," press select, and all of the games for your various teams pop up. Just use the arrows to scroll down to UNT, press "select," and presto, there is the upcoming game and the channels it is on. Just use the arrow to scroll to the one you want and click select. The game may be one more than one station. Just pick the station and hit select. You can also record to your DVR. Hope this helps @GMG_Dallas

I don't know why anyone is surprised by this. RV said in a podcast with Harry last season that he preferred the whore money for playing a road game than playing P5s in Apogee. Said clear as day he had zero plans to schedule a P5. He was a lazy, terrible AD that we let hang around for 15 years because we (the fans) really didn't care that much about winning. Hopefully that will change. -

Hustlers always be hustlin'. Always. Also, I really hope this is followed up with an accounting audit. No telling how much cash disappeared off the books (if books were even kept) under the last AD. Just mind numbingly unbelievable. You really need to read the whole report when you get time, Joe. -
If UNT plans to address these issues, they need to publicize this report as much as possible. And call a press conference every time one of these issues is fixed. Some of you see this as a negative. I see it as a huge opportunity for UNT to SHOW disaffected alumni a commitment to athletics. I hope they run a larger article tomorrow.

DRC: breaking - Consultants report critical of UNT
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I have never been an AD employee. I'm much too busy at my job to worry about what my co-workers are up to. That's a very smart way to approach the problem. I know from experiencing immediate change under new leadership that sometimes it's bad change. Smart leaders take the time and evaluate. Like I sad before, bad habits are hard to break, and the lazy employees will out themselves soon enough. As long as none of the new upper management is blind to the ass kissing do nothing employee, they should be able to deal with this issue in the proper way and time frame. That said, it we don't see at least some movement within the next year, it's a concern that Baker is losing the culture battle inside the AD. -

I think we all know the answer. If you talked to people inside the college athletic world, the lack of respect for the last AD was palpable.
