Breaking Jalen Guyton WR Trinity Valley
UNT90 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Hardly quiet if he had offers from West Virginia and Kansas. Really good signing. Well, he had multiple offers, so if it was stealth recruiting, the strategy failed pretty badly. Listed as a 3 star by 24/7. Very solid pick up. -
Group of 5 officials considering playoff for non-Power 5 teams

Nope, you file a class action anti-trust suit seeking DAMAGES for limiting competition. They want to leave? Make them. And make them pay you on their way out the door., -

Yep, with every FBS conference champ included. This makes money for everyone. There is a reason the 1st round of the NCAA tournament is so popular. Americans love underdog stories. -

Do this and my support ends. I'm sure others feel the same way. It's giving up. It is absolutely returning to the mid 80s. If you think crowds and financial support won't be affected, you are fooling yourself. TV revenue will be one tenth of what it is currently, and that's an optimistic figure. -

And the financial consequences would be devastating. Go check out those FCS TV contracts, because that would be the standard for the G5 if the self relegated themselves into oblivion. I seriously think some of you were against the move back to FBS. -

The give up in this fan base never ceases to amaze... Say goodbye to FBS? Well, say goodbye to 82 scholarships and hello to 65. Say goodbye to the amount of cash currently being donated to the program. Let that sink in. Say goodbye to ever funding a baseball program. Say goodbye to ever having more than 20k at a football game. Say goodbye to any new athletic facility. Stop and think of consequences before relegating yourself to a lesser status I college athletes, because they will be severe. -
MGB: Recruiting state of the union -- it's too early to panic
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
So we should wait until they have 2 bad classes in a row? 3? Please, let me know the standard of when it is ok to state the obvious.- 158 replies

Our Assistant of the Year?
UNT90 replied to MeanGreenMailbox aka TFLF's topic in Mean Green Football
Facts suck, I know. If you throw in the fact that we played a service academy twice this year and zero last year, the yardage would almost equal out. Army doesn't pass (disproportionate amount of less passing yards) and run continually (disporportionate amount of more rushing yards). That'd about make up the difference in those two categories. Facts matter. Fact is we were 5-7. Fact is we have along way to go to be a contender in CUSA. Fact is Littrell worked a miracle to get to 5 wins. Fact is it was a huge improvement over last year. Just don't make it any more or less than what it should be: one step on a very long road to being a conference contender. Nothing more, nothing less. -

Terrible idea. The group of 5 should be considering a class action anti-trust lawsuit instead of relegating themselves to second tier nothingness forever... -
Good advice. Try following it.

Well, hello sweetheart. Actually, it can. I mean I repeated endlessly how RV sucked and should be fired... And then he was... So...

You know, repeating it endlessly doesn't make it so. lol. Very millennial of you, though. Sagrin has Army rated #90

Army wasn't "one of the better G5 teams." They were an average G5 team, as their 7-6 pre-bowl record indicated. Mac was ABSOLUTELY about recruiting. Don't you recall the multiple warnings from BillySee? Look bo further than Western Michigan, who had the 3 highest rated classes in their conference the last three years and are 12-0 and playing in the Cotton Bowl. It amazes me how people in this fan base will change facts and history to put a better face on this program. Its like they never learn.

Our Assistant of the Year?
UNT90 replied to MeanGreenMailbox aka TFLF's topic in Mean Green Football
Or lost games. Against the good offenses in this conference, the defense was pretty terrible. They were even terrible against a not so good offense in an important game (UTEP). They were good against USM minus the first and second team QB, a terrible Marshall team, an FCS, and a very good Army team (1st meeting). Hell, they were barely good enough against an awful Rice squad. So let's look inside the numbers and compare this year to last: team defense ranking 2015 - 119 team defense ranking 2016 - 89 YPG allowed 2015 - 502.6 YPG allowed 2016 - 439.8 Total Rush yards 2015 - 2879 Total Rush yards 2016 - 3114 (one extra game) Total Pass yards 2015 - 3152 Total Pass yards 2016 - 2603 Yards per play 2015 - 6.67 Yards per play 2016 - 6.07 Points Per game 2015 - 41.2 (ranked 122). Points Per game 2016 - 32.6 (ranked 99th) So we went from terrible to bad on defense. An improvement, no doubt, but we aren't talking the 85 Chicago Bears here... -
Saw him come off the field in the third quarter, go immediately to the trainers, sit down and take an IV.

The problem isn't UNT, the problem has been who has been hired to recruit to UNT. Hopefully that changed with Littrell. We shall see.
-
Everyone worrying about where he is going when we don't even know if he can recruit to UNT. If he can't recruit to UNT, he can't win at UNT. Pretty simple. The cart is 5 miles ahead of the horse in this thread.

Too much of a lateral move, I think.
-
I think the point is when we are ranked #5 in the country, that may be the time to have this conversation. Littrell will need to string together 3 or 4 really good years with at least 2 conference championships to get the job offers he wants going forward. One really good year at UNT won't do it.
-
Quicker than a blink of an eye. Would he rather recruit 4 and 5 stars or 2 and 3 stars? Would he rather coach in front of 90k in the best conference in college football or in front of 20k in CUSA? Are you really asking THIS question?
-
You do understand that there was a STRONG argument to be made that UNT wasn't the right first head coaching job for Littrell, right?
-
And? Patterson has been at TCU for 16 years. He didn't become a smoking hot commodity until after the Rose Bowl victory in 2011. TCU joined the Big 12 a year later and at the time of the Rose Bowl victory were widely rumored to be headed to the Big 12. Patterson took a calculated risk that TCU would be admitted. The risk paid off. That won't be any part of the equation if Littrell ever gets a P5 offer.
