MGB: Baker comes through on promise, adds Texas Tech to sked
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I should have said long suffering. Lol. Wait... your statement may still apply... -
Maybe you don't understand that he gets paid the remainder of his contract whether he is fired or not? There is no downside for him or UNT. Just can his ass already.
-
Well, he wants UNT to drop a classification. He doesn't want better scheduling. What would you call it?

We aren't competitive with conference foes. Period. Look around if you don't believe me. -
Turning it around to the pint of passing TCU, SMU, and UTA? I don't think so. Not even close. As an opposing coach, I would LOVE to talk about this situation in a recruiting battle.
-
He isn't a staff of one. If he manages that way, especially in this situation, he is destined to failure. Multiple items can be addressed simultaneously. This isn't rocket science, folks.

Yes, he now needs to fix the broken schedule that UNT allowed RV to make for a full year after he should have been canned. It is a great scheduling get, but some of those need to happen while fans are still alive.- 7 replies

Before everyone jumps on the vilification bandwagon, realize that there may have been others jumping on the money bandwagon. Case by case examination of the facts. Only way to go.

Contracts can be broken. Raise the money to make it happen if need be. He knew this coming in if he did his research, which I'm sure he did.
-
This would be the case. S needs to be fixed. You can't start being AD in 2022 (on this particular subject). Fix the things that are fixable. The schedule is fixable.
-
I'm not blaming him for anything! God God! I'm Saying he was brought here to fix a huge mess. If he doesn't fix it, he isn't a pretty good hire. The existing schedule is part of that mess. Do you agree or not?
-
So, wanna post their home OOCs? Of course you don't....

And I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that your opinion exactly mimics that of the AD you have worked so hard to suck up to. So, I guess we are even. Unlike you, I'm not an AD employee or shill. I express opinions many times opposite of the AD. Opinions that have proven to be right on some key issues. meanwhile, you have never once contributed an original thought. Way to go personal. Again.

I think that costs this basketball program fans and future recruits. If you wanna be the worst team in DFW the next 4 years, let this play out.
-
"Captain, there is an iceberg dead ahead!" "Steady as she goes and full steam ahead. Maintain the given course as preplanned." "But Captain, we will hit the iceberg and possibly sink! Passengers could die!!" "Look, our bosses gave us a pre-planned course. It's a good course, and we will not vary, no matter any new information we receive! Now, bring me my brandy!!" Jeez... Makes me think Benford's lack of halftime adjustments is a cultural issue.
-
As many have said, this is 10 years out. It's a start, but it doesn't make him a "pretty decent hire." Doing 10 years from now what every other team in your conference is currently acconplishing doesn't make you a "pretty decent hire." Hell, it doesn't even make you an average hire. In this catagory, I'll give him "pretty decent" if he can replace one of the FCS of Body Bag games with a P5 one and one before 2021. THAT should be the goal. Fix the damn problem.

Or expect better, like a home and home that you said couldn't be done. Why do you hate UNT athletics so much?

As opposed to those who will never judge him, ever, for anything. Eh, Stranger? -

It's a very good start. Remember how the typical RV shills who are still shilling on the basketball board for Benford said this couldn't be done? That teams like Tech had no reason to come to Denton? Wake up, UNT fans. These are the things that are possible if you just freaking try. -
1-19 on the road. Did you know that? F_U ain't wins. Guess what. Circumstances change. Going 0-8 in conference with the real possibility of pulling a conference 0-fer would cause this change at any FBS program. Except UNT. There is a reason UNT is what it is athletically and is the butt of jokes in the college athletics world in Texas. It's on full display in this situation. To alumni, to recruits, to competitors, and to students (also known as future potential donors). You ever wonder why there is a culture on UNT campus of making fun of the athletics teams? Well, here is your answer. If UNT doesn't care, why should they?

Trust me, the alumni who are no money don't give a crap who we play or don't play. And that's about 98% of the alumni. Too bad UNT spent the last 15 years whoring and not trying to get them involved. -

I'm not judging him for this year, but I do not like the narrative of Army made out to be some P5-esqe school that will fill Apogee. They won't. i will judge him harshly if he can't fix the schedule before 2022.
