There is always another choice. UNT chose not to make another choice. To say there is no other path is so................North Texas

Why fix something that's no bro......uh, nevermind. Lets just keep doing the same thing that got us here. No consequences for anyone.

It does look like decommit, but I guess it's D.E. Commit

A Detailed Look At Where Unt Stands In Recruiting
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
We see what we want to see. -
Great analogy, but thats a mighty big raise your calling. Hope your not chasing with 2nd pair.
-
But then you could argue that standing still and waiting on the handoff gives the back extra time to scan the line for running lanes, whereas forward momentum would commit the back to a limited are on the line of scrimmage. I love arguing with myself. Years of living alone.
-
And the running back will have forward momentum, not standing like a statue next to the QB 4 yards behind the line.

Dodge has done a great job off the field, as I have said many times. My comments about the athletic fee vote were specific to anything that Dodge and RV did directly related to that vote. It probably would have hurt the vote if they had actively campaigned for the athletic fee. Flyer and other SGA leaders led the campaign so the students wouldn't feel like the vote was forced down their throat. People on here are diehards. The bounce in season ticket sales we got when Dodge was hired will go away, beginning next season, without success on the field. Don't recall the post about more resources and am fairly sure it wasn't my post. Never really cared for Dickey, but won't rip the guy.

What an embarassment...and on our home lake!! Were we down 35 bass by lunch?
-
Man, can't wait to tell my co-workers that we are b ASS champions!!!!

Actually, it was a combination of athletes getting arrested, a cavalier attitude, and decreasing on the field performance (from the standard that they were used to at the time). I agree about your other statements about Dodge. THe main concern is that I have not seen anything to indicate that he can win some games next year, and I hate to see UNT waste another year.
-
There is no doubt that if Dickey acted the same way, and still won 9-10 games every year and went to bowls, he would not have been fired. Also, donations, attendance, and interest would not have slipped. "Fire Mac" was happening when Texas was going 8-4, not 1-10 and the worst team in D1 football. No way to compare the two. Barry Switzer could do anything he wanted at Oklahoma. Why? Because he won. I wish Dodge could get it done on the field, because in every other area he is great.

I agree that Dodge has done a great job in every aspect of the football program, except winning, which trumps everything else (thats life in the real world). Looks like he will get one more season. You will see less season tickets sold for 2009 due to the performance this year (although some apologist will blame it on the economy). Dodge and RV were irrelevant in the student fee. Don't take the credit away from where it belongs, the students (Flyer in particular). The things you talk about happened because of excitement around the program and the Dodge hire. They will start going away without a winning team. No doubt RV has done an admiral job with facility development and other aspects of the program. But football is THE sport in this area and in this state, not to mention the prime revenue producer for the Athletic Dept. I just wonder if his job is linked to Dodge's performance in year three if Dodge stays.
-
And now it appears to be through the lines and headed toward the sewage treatment plant. Maybe not, maybe the moon and stars will allign and everything wll go perfectly next year and we will win 4 games. Doubt it, things never go as smooth as we hope. I support RV's decision, whatever it may be. If Dodge stays with similiar results next year, I think you see both Dodge and RV gone. Just like DD wasn't RV's coach, RV was not GB's choice for AD. As far as Deloach as Asst. head coach, you don't reward underachievement. (I know, diff topic post. Lack the energy) I hope our players magically become more athletic, add obscene muscle mass, and transform from the worst team in D1 football to superstars. It seems that many on here see this magically happening when players become Juniors.

A look at Horton's season for 8-3 DII Tarelton St. 36 tackles (including assists), 4 sacks, 5 tackles for a loss (does not include sacks). One interception returned for 42 yards. Led the team with 7 tackles in one game. Usually in the middle of the defensive stats in all other games. Thats an average of roughly 3.3 tackles a game and only 4 sacks on the season. He may have been a serviceable player here, but I doubt much more.

I truely hope Dodge turns this around next year and support whatever conclusion is made by the Admin reference his future here. But you cant have it both ways. If he has recruited so much better than any other coach that has ever coached here, then this massive influx of superior talent would have produced better results on the field. It would not matter that they are young, because they were SO much more talented than the players from 2006 (the cupboard was bare argument). But that hasn't happened. Why? Either coaching or talent evaluation. Since all these other schools probably wouldn't offer these kids if the talent wasn't there, I think we can scratch poor talent evaluation. That leaves coaching. I hope for improved coaching next year. Didn't see it this year. And round and round we go...(heavy sigh)

We needed the off week to improve special teams play.

If your referring to Diane Patrick, yes she did.

I've learned that while impersonal, cash always is a welcomed gift. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I received a telelphone call last week from someone in the athletic department saying that they wanted to talk about a donation at a specific level. I was having dinner out with friends and told them I was interested and asked them to call back. Have not heard back from them yet. Anyone else get this call? If so, was it stadium related?
-
Actually, was hoping this would be more a discussion of the consequences that RV will face if he chooses to stick with Dodge next year and we get blown out by 40 - 50 points in our 1st 4 games. Not anti RV at all, just wondering what his fate will be if this happens.
-
Yes, lets just ignore all the positives that have occurred over the past 7 years and call the AD names because we are having a horrible football season. Thats productive.

Don't let him do it. Still repairing the roof damage from his visit this past weekend. He's got no sense of balance. -

Dude, ease up. It's only humor, and not aimed at you. Seems like everyone has relied on Flyer for a lot of things. If it makes you feel better, you can make fun of me for double posting a topic. -
Another post got me thinking. What will RV's legacy be here if he retains Dodge through next season with the same disasterous results?? I think if this happens, it has the potential to cost RV his job. Like him or not, he has accomplished so much more here than any AD before him. Just look at the facilities that have been added under his tenure. Look at the attendance figures for a horrible product this year. From what I understand, he brought the tailgating atmophere to game day, also?? I wonder if this legacy could be lost if he goes to the wall for Dodge and it ends up costing him his job. It would really take some major stones to make that commitment to Dodge after this last year.
