Don't want or need to know him. He is a reporter. He reports. Of couse he is going to act like your best friend if he thinks that will get him a story, thats his job. Maybe your personal feelings about him because of your personal contact with him clouds your objectivity, I don't know. I just think it's humerous that people (not you specifically) think that what this guy has to say will influence recruits more than the product that has been put on the field the last several years. That's laughable. People just seem to twist whatever Vito or Phillips say to fit their perception. Vito = to negative, Phillips = to positive
-
Thats right, Vito. How dare you say we suck when we are ranked last in defense in D1 and are competetive in only 2 games all year. Only we on this board are allowed to say what sucks and what doesn't suck about UNT athletics. Just because you, Mr. Vito, diid not graduate from UNT and have no ties to UNT other than being an assigned beat reporter, does not mean you should not openly cheer for UNT and say nothing but nice things about our programs. Here is an idea. How about we actually be competetive on the football field. I bet you Mr. Vito would report that, also. This guy makes less than many on this board and has a truely thankless job. I appreciate the info that he brings us, as well as Mr. Phillips at the Startlegram. That said, fire them both!!! On Dec. 24, please!!

Ben Knox to add 50 lbs of muscle

No fire, just when we start winning, lets all jump down his throat for reporting the obvious there, also. You know, like when we land a recruit and Vito writes "I asked Smith if he was concerned about the logjam of talented players at the defensive tackle position. Smith said that he was just honored to receive a scholarship from the defending Big Twelve Champion North Texas Mean Green." Oh wait, there he goes again, trying to run off that recruit. Ya'll are right, that guy sucks.

No, it was still swimming in the sarcasm. Some of the responses made me giggle.
-
EXACTLY!! Now THAT is a fair and unbiased assesment of the season!
-
"UNT didn't fare quite as well this season" I am so tired of Vito and his endless attacks on North Texas. It is so apparent that the guy hates UNT and only wants failure for all of our academic and athletic programs. The above statement by Vito is obviously dripping in sarcasm and meant to scare away any recruit that would even consider UNT. The nerve of this hack!

what a waste of taxpayer money. Can you imagine the man hours alone that went into preparing the bill. Think that there are FAR more important things for Congress to worry about, not to mention it nothing but a PR move.

"I was in the pool" while thinking about how this program could "get out" of the basement. I thought about the three superiorly talented siamese triplets that we just singed "Yada, Yada, Yada." I thought a poster saying they played "Like a frightened turtle" was a little harsh. Not to mention the inseneitivity of another poster, who said "I don't know how you guys walk around with those things." I'm tired of Coach Dodge constantly defending using the spread at the goal line by telling us "Look, you don't understand. There was shrinkage." I do respect RV's comment on this past season and where we are going in the future: "I think that you think that a certain something is not all that it could be, when, in fact, it is all that it should be... And more!" I can't believe my college roomate emailed Rv and told him "You could be the first pirate comedian." I don't even know what that means. And then he defends Dodge by saying "He's not a Nazi. He just happens to be a little eccentric. Most geniuses are." Then there was the meeting after the season. The fly on the wall told my that Dodge told RV "Has anyone ever told you you look exactly like Al Pacino? You know, Scent Of A Woman? Hoo-wah! Hoo-wah!". RV, trying to stay on track after the flattery, told Dodge "Come back one year. Next!" I know Dodge will eventually fire the special teams coach, at which point, some 4A head coach will say "So, tell me, how is it that a man like you, so bald and so quirky and funny... how is it you're not taken?" Deloach, who remains with the staff, leads a defensive turnaround by explaining the basics of tackling "Guys, hitting is not about muscle. It's simple physics. Calculate the velocity, v, in relation to the trajectory, t, in which g, gravity, of course remains a constant. It's not complicated." I just hope next year doesn't end with Dodge saying "This is the most public yet of my many humiliations." Yes, I have waaaaaaay to much time on my hands, and it's slipin away, slipin away from me

Amen

Pretty sure you got 5 years to play four, so if he was enrolled for the fall symester, he would only have 4 years left. i think. maybe.
-
Then if it happens, and as Euless says, Dodge has recruited better talent than DD, where are the on field results? It leaves only one answer. Coaching. I find myself being critical of Dodge on here, not because I want to, but because some people (see Euless) want to say Dodge recruited superior talent, but it just hasn't matured yet, but some of it has matured, but the ones that haven't matured are not Dodge's fault, but we are soooo young (turns out, not really), but the cupboard was bare, but it is only Dodge's second year, but we can't afford to let Dodge go (yes, we can), but its his assistants fault (God forbid he be held accountable for who he hired). I hope he turns it around next year and wins 6-8 games. Haven't seen anything to indicate that he will, but I pray I am wrong. If he does, great, if not, fire him. But please, enough of the excuses. His performance over the first two years has been miserable. Alot of nice buts in this post.

I highjack it every chance I get, but never (ok, rarely) in public.
-
We are not Florida or Bama and will never be!!!! Just shut up and accept your lot in life!!!! Never aspire to anything greater!! How dare you!!
-
Lets let him prove that he is eligible, much less that he can compete on this level, before making that comparison. But it is good to see some beef for the D line. It said he was a soft commitment on rivals. Is that old info?
-
No, just decided to highjack it.

Thats right, I forget we are different from every other college in the nation. We must have magic pills that are given between the soph and jr years. Sarcasm aside. Talent is talent, thats why you see sophs and froshs beating out upper classmen in every college program. If we had shown any improvement throughout the year, this may be a valid argument. We did not and this is not.
-
The background music causes me concern for our APR score. Guess im just getting old.
-
So I guess the argument that these underclassmen players just need time to develop kinda takes a hit, eh?
-
All superior talented players that will save the program. Look for us to go 11-1.
-
Florida lost at home to unranked Ole Miss. Texas lost on the road to the #5 team in the nation. Texas Holds victories over one team ranked ahead of them and continually gets jumped in BCS rankings. This system sucks.
-
No way Florida should be ranked above either OU or Texas

Texas Longhorns

Ya, your right. We should accept our lot in life and never aspire to anything greater. God, how horrible would it be if we were to improve on field performance, add facilities, and join a better conference. I think i'd have to slit my wrist!! Your right, just accept mediocracy. Be thankful that we get to go to Fouts every Saturday and watch UNT get own by 35 at half, suffer the worst year in program history, and then fully support the football coach. Thank God my parents had higher aspirations for me, otherwise I'd still be sitting in diapers crapping myself (the stage where our football program is at this very moment). As for your other post about the great recruiting: Superior talent (as you say Dodge recruited) + worst season in program history = failed coaching round and round we go
