  1. Couldn't imagine that he would take the pay cut, but looks extremely qualified for the job. Like the idea of a former player being the strength coach. Now, if he was still in cold Cleveland instead of sunny Arizona, maybe he would take the pay cut.
  2. Can I put it on my latex helmet?
  3. You, sir, are right. I will not post on this subject again. Anyone heard anything about the new stadium? Is there any recruiting news? Is the schedule released yet? I hate the off season already.
  4. Arena League. The Mountain West and WAC athletes go Canadian.
  5. uh...point guard. please.
  6. Expectations around here?? What a novel concept.
  7. Didn't know the truth was considered negative. Whom, prey tell, should we compare UNT with?? Please tell me, because it seems that we can't be compared to anyone.
  8. can't believe he didn't get a look in the NFL. Or did he?
  9. Look it up. They must give them the magic pill in fall pratice before their frosh year. If only we would have thought of that!!!! Dang, just keep the team together and they will win the Superbowl by the time they are seniors. I know, can't compare us to them, or anyone else, cause we are incomparable!! Couldn't resist.
  10. When UNT wins, my endowment goes up. Sadly, that only happened one time last year.
  11. And don't forget good music.
  12. This looks like, hopefully, the first step of the public fundraising campaign. To place the new stadium on the cover and do large article on the stadium indicates that that this IS going to happen. I doubt that the university would put itself in a position to basically promise the stadium in this publication, and then come back to the students and alumni with "umm, nevermind" at a later point. I think that they probably have the financing already in place and are just awaiting approval from the legislature and construction elements (permits, final plans, etc...) before groundbreaking occurs. This is great news for this athletic program and this University. But, then again, what do I know. ***Then again, after re-reading the article, maybe there is a reason to be wary***
  13. It's the University that's applying for the loan, not the athletic department, so the University's credit is the only thing that matters. I have talked to a person in the mortgage business, who told me that for home loans, it's gone to 20% down with excellent credit. I'm sure there are those on hear much more familiar with commercial construction loans who could shed some light on the subject.
  14. And the debate goes on about who should/shouldn't be national champ. Maybe even a high profile lawsuit. Yep, sounds like the BCS is getting just what they want.
  15. I think there were problems between the coach and AD and this was just an easy way out for both of them. I don't think the AD has some "higher moral compass" than any other AD in college football. Call me cinical.
  16. Maybe "expect" was the wrong word. Let's just say I'm "suprised". Better?
  17. The remark wasn't meant as anything negative. Hell, you have been posting on here longer than I. I went to UNT when we were 1AA. Think about absolutely no pre-game activities, ZERO student interest (at some games, there were maybe 2000 in attendance), and having playoff home games decided on which school has better attendance (I don't remember one home game in the playoffs). If we went 1-AA, I would never attend another Football game, home or away, and would not donate to the athletic program. That's not me abandoning the program, that's the program abandoning itself. All we need is some good luck (the right coach), several winning season, and the new stadium. This school has come a looooong way from where it used to be, and can go alot further. Just need people in charge who have the right VISION. Several winning seasons, a new stadium, trust me, alums will come back (If we freakin contact them!) Please people, look at the future, not the past.
  18. The fact that this topic is being brought up illustrates the culture of UNT football, the administration, and even their most die-hard fan base. Don't perform to expectation? Well, just dumb those expectations down. Don't demand any accountability for why the original expectations weren't met, just re-adjust the expectation level lower, and lower, and lower. There is a bright future for this athletic program, IF the above mentioned groups recognize it and work toward it. The most depressing part of this thread is that it was posted by a relatively new fan of UNT sports. I expect it from those who have suffered years of abuse at the hands of their parent(Uh...University), but frankly I expected a more optimistic outlook from old guy.
  19. I'll take the old telephone. I can't figure out that new one you have pictured.
  20. Is this what you expected when Dodge was hired in 07?? If not, please, for the sake of this program, please stop lowering your expectations.
  21. I just want something better for UNT. If this was a proven college coach who has found diamonds in the rough before, maybe I wouldn't be so worried. I hope Bean comes in and is All-Conference for two years. I hope Adkinson comes in, period. It seems we have gone from competing against TCU, SMU, Houston, Rice, and Baylor last year to competing against 1-AA programs and UAB this year. That seems like a step down. Maybe it's just the Jr. College recruiting season that makes it seem this way. I hope that we land a bumper crop from the high school ranks in the next two months. It just seems like the initial bounce in recruiting that occurred after the Dodge hire is fading completely away. Is it wrong to expect more from this athletic program?
  22. No, but maybe Baylor, Smu, TCU. Yes, I know about last year. I'm talking this year. I do hold out hope that Flax will come back into the fold (please, please!!).
  23. I was referencing another thread and our recruitment of Bean. Seems Bean and Warren have 1 thing in common: UNT the only 1A school to offer them a scholly.
  24. I guess the hangover finally dissipated.
