Athletic Fee Bill Introduces To State Senate
UNT90 replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
The law school bill was attached to a very controversial bill (Can't remember the issue), which is why it did not pass. Let's pray that this is a stand alone bill and doesn't get attached to anything remotely controversial. Flyer, do you know the name off the sponsoring Rep for this bill? Would calling our individual reps be advantageous as far as moving this thing forward? -
Is he the friggin head coach or the offensive coordinator. Yes, he is to blame for the defense, both years. It's his responsibility.

Love that phrase. Wish more people around here would use it.

In 2005 we averaged a final score of 29 - 13 In 2006 we averaged a final score of 25 - 12 Not great, which is why Dickey was fired. In 2007 we averaged a final score of 45 - 25 In 2008 we averaged a final score of 49 - 20 These are your numbers. To me, there are no comparisons. We go from a moderately bad college football team to the absolute worst team in D1A and people are still willing to wait until 2010? I understand waiting until the middle of 2009. I personally think that is wasting another 1/2 year, but I understand that we are locked into this. I would understand waiting if we had simply maintained the level that we were at (remember, really bad, which is why someone was fired) and had bright prospects ahead. I see nothing to indicate any change from last year, and think we may actually get worse (yes, that is possible). That said, I hope Dodge wins 6 games and makes me look stupid (remember, no personal attacks, the mods are watching ).

It's a bill...on capital hill...and someday it will be a law!! Great news, and we really, really needed it. -
Not even close. We won 3 games Dickeys last year. We've won 3 Dodge's first 2 years. Go back and look and the final scores of Dickey's last year, then compare those to the final scores last year for Dodge. To say that last year in any way, shape, or form compared to Dickey's last year is revisionist history. I wasn't a fan of Dickey and hate when I have to point this stuff out.
-
What do you mean by improvement? If three wins and numerous close games is your barometer of improvement, that's what we had before he came here, and that wasn't good enough, and it shouldn't be. 6 win season or he should be gone.

I'll take the first shot. So, I guess this means that he now "technically" is only between his first and 2nd year since the first recruiting class doesn't count, which, by your own standards, would mean we can't judge him until after the 2010 season, or would it be 2011? If he is really singling out one recruiting class to meet with, which I doubt, that would show he has zero leadership qualities. Anyone would know that would divide a team and lead to petty jelousy among a bunch of 18- 22 year old kids. If this is true, he should be fired immediately and I wouldn't hire him to coach a pee wee team. Again, I don't believe this. As far as discipline, I guess this means that a certain highly recruited redshirt freshman will have his scholarship pulled because of the multiple felony offenses that he committed several months ago? No word on that, eh? Could it be that every college coach gives the more talented kids lieniency that he wouldn't give a kid that was a role player? Or, could it be that every coach judges such events based on their own merits? It's like the captain of the Titanic yelling "full speed ahead" as the ship slowly sinks in the North Atlantic. I just don't understand. Please, tell me when you will finally hold Dodge accountable for this mess? 2012? 2013? Just please give me a date when you will swim to the surface.

I wish Vizza well, no matter where he ends up. But I do think this is going to be a decision he regrets in about 5 years. I thank him for his service, yet I am disappointed that he jumped ship when the waters got extremely rough. I hope he knows you can't do that in the real world outside of college football. He will now have to battle for a starting position at the next stop. Yes, he would have had that same battle here, but he would have entered that battle as the starter. He's got a big hill to climb at his next stop, even if it is D1AA. Don't be surprised to see him as a backup in his 3rd year of eligibility.

Where are those that screamed bias by Vito against the school. Why aren't they screaming about the bias by Phillips in this article against Vizza and for UNT. Could it be that they are only concerned about bias when the reporter doesn't agree with their point of view? I don't think that either are biased, but this article is way more Pro UNT than it is Pro Vizza, yet no one screams. ummmm...

Nothing personal, but I just hate this type of attitude when it comes to UNT sports. We also could be doing much, much better in both football and Bball. Let's try to raise the bar, shall we? Greater accomplishment should raise expectations further. Never, ever rest on past accomplishment (which we have few).

Riley is no bigger than 5'9". Have y'all not seen him?
-
Like you've never gone 24 hours without pooping.

Actually, he is only a freshman, and a true freshman at that. He only needs time to mature. By the time he is a junior or senior, he will be leading this board to victories over the Troy and FAU boards. Give him a couple of off seasons to add the required additional vocabulary and he will be a stud!! Hopefully he doesn't transfer to another board due to differences with the moderators.

Alot of assumptions that players that have never seen D1A competition will make this team better. I hope your right. I do think the O-line will be a strength, but think we still have HUGE problems on the defensive side of the ball. Again, this is a team that showed no improvement last year. While I am hopeful, I just don't see the same rose colored outlook.
-
Reesing is a friggin Giant compared to Rodge. I hope he is successful, but I just think he is severely limited as a D1A QB. Every other major college program that did not recruit him as a QB would seem to agree with me.
-
Meanwhile, that librian looking, black rimmed glasses wearing petite girl that you left sitting at the bar, the one that was really into you, has suddenly blossommed into a beautiful young woman. Wasn't her name Harbaugh???
-
Vizza ran the same system in high school that Dodge runs here. I hope Riley is the real deal, but excuse me if I have my doubts about a 5' 9" D1A QB who has zero QB experience on the college level. We are all too close to the situation to judge the effects of this. Lets wait and see how the outside "experts" pick our finish in the Sun Belt without Vizza. They seemed to be on the mark last year when many of us were predicting a 6 to 8 win season.
-
Problem with Rodge is that he is 5' 9" and 180 lbs. He doesn't have the frame to take the pounding that is required of a college QB, much less UNT's QB. As far as the long ball, I was personally present to witness the only pass thrown by Rodge last season, which occurred directly in front of my 10th row seat during the LSU game (they give their opponent's fans REALLY good seats), was not impressed with the floater that was thrown. I also saw several of his high school games, and the long ball was definitely not his strength. That said, he appears to be a lock as the starter next year, so I'm behind him.
-
Was racking my brain trying to think of any other circumstance where a starting D1A quarterback made his own decision to transfer (Not forced, like Rhett Bomar). Anyone have any examples of this happening elsewhere? I understand a starter losing his job, then transferring, but thats not the case with Vizza.
-
Would you have typed that after the Dodge hire? The football program just keeps backpedalling and it really needs to stop.
-
So your OK with 0-12?
-
Horrible news. We now go into next season with no one on the roster with any substantial experience at the QB position. Worse yet, this is going to devastate this year's recruiting class. This tells me that this program is out of control and Dodge either A) Has no idea what is going on with his starting QB or B. Thinks that a 5' 9" 170 lbs. redshirt freshman with no D1 QB experience is a better option than Vizza. The first option means he should be fired. The second option means he should be fired. Looking forward to a great season of tailgating followed by being out of every game by the second quarter. New prediction is 0-12. Dodge gone after game 8. Yes, I'm P@#$$ed!!!

I asked in another thread whether or not TCU might be the highest ranked Texas team in next year's preseason poll. Well, I guess here is my answer. They aren't even ranked in the top 25. I thought they returned lot of starters next year? If so, what else do they need to do to show they are worthy of a preseason ranking? http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=898567

If McCoy goes pro, might TCU be the highest rated team from Texas in the 2009 preseason AP or Coaches poll?
