  1. They have a long way to fall to get to where we are at. Just sayin...
  2. I'd be happy if I had a girlfriend that was currently attending UNT
  3. Don't question the love fest.
  4. I was excited by the recruiting class, but, on further review, am now only satisfied. Damn those damn facts.
  5. Amen
  6. Agree that people shouldn't be bashing Riley because he his son of Dodge. I don't think there is anything wrong with an honest evaluation of his skills, especially as they are related to being a D1 QB. Remember, Texas recruited him as a WR, not QB, as did almost all other D1 schools.
  7. Really??? Severe doubt is in every corner of my mind. Lots of people associated with the athletic dept read this board everyday, including RV himself. If you were employeed there, you would know this and wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) post anything negative on this board. If you did work there and had such a lack of integrity to blast your employers in a public forum like this, I wouldn't believe anything you had to say, anyway. But, I think someone is simply looking for attention.
  8. Could we have hired the wrong high school coach? Or, does this prove that high school coaches can be successful in the college ranks. Hummmm
  9. First prediction of the season......I predict that KRAM will predict a win in every game this season. You heard it here first.
  10. My main concern for Riley, other than a lack of size, is lack of arm strength to play QB at this level. Hopefully he is a stud. We shall see.
  11. I don't agree with all you say here, but I do agree that with this recruiting class, we appear to be beating out other Sun Belt teams for recruits when last year, we were beating out teams from the Mountain West and CUSA. I think this does indicate a lesser quality recruiting class. We will always have to find the diamond in the rough recruit. I just don't know if I trust Dodge's judgement on this issue at this point.
  12. Hope your right, but JUCOs come with their own set of challenges. First and foremost is becoming eligible to play at the D1 level. Let's not forget the Horton surprise of last year or the weight issue of big Mr. Jenkins. I know everyone gets excited this time of year, but you can't really judge a recruiting class until it is several years in. Look at Dodge's first class. I think the best judge of expectations for next year is looking at the returning players already on the roster.
  13. This is looking like a great class, but can we tap the breaks just a little? Last year's class was one og the best in the history of the school, but it didn't translate into immediate victories on the field, so why would this class? Just trying to add a dose of reality to the euphoria.
  14. Wish I shared your optimism. Take a serious look at what we have at this position. If Riley can't play at the D1 level or gets injured early because of his small frame, we could be looking at an 0-fer next year. I realize that the recruiting season brings renewed optimism every year. Lets all remember the posts here this time last year that had us winning 6-9 games. That said, everyone can fire away at my negativity.
  15. Instantly my favorite player for the next 2 years

This is the football board, and we mainly talk about football. I agree other aspects of the athletic program are doing well, but I think it is OK for people to be concerned after seeing the product that was on the field last season. Like everything else in life, it all comes down to production. It doesn't matter if we have the number 1 rated recruiting class in the nation 3 years running if there is no improvement on the field. There has been no improvement on the field. I hope there is improvement next year. That said, as long as Dodge proves he can adjust to the college level (which he has shown no signs of doing as of this writing), I also see very positive signs ahead for this football program.
  17. Thanks to Mr. Vito for keeping us always updated. Does anyone know how many open schollys this leaves us?
  18. I noticed how small the team was during the march at home games. My college roommate and I, both 6'3", were shocked that we were bigger than almost everyone on the team (no, we have no eligibility left). We also noticed the lack of thickness with the players and commented that they looked like a high school team. In contrast, we were at the LSU game and happened to be walking by when the LSU players got off the bus. They were men (and no, they weren't 40). Huge. I also think that this addition is bigger than any recruit this year.
  19. If this guy coms here, he will immediately become my favorite player.
  20. This was a promised development that did not happen. Yes, our circumstances are much different, but similiar in the fact that right now, the stadium is merely a promised development. And as the following line in the post said, I'll start listening to timelines once serious dirt has been moved.
  21. Getting a good recruit is a positive story. Going 1-11 is not. Could it be that it is hard to put a positive spin on a negative story? Chicken and the egg.
  22. I simply refer you to glory hole...er glory park, that wonderful, multi-use development that opens this May next to the new Cowboy Stadium. Oh, wait... I do believe the stadium will happen, but don't believe any timeline until serious dirt is being moved.
  23. No original ideas left in advertising, except for those "Free Credit Report.com" guys. And they should have stuck with the original song. If they do a remake, they should run the original and the remake back to back. Let the public judge.
  24. Hope...Change...Courage...New Stadium...
  25. Received the UNT legislative update from the Prez via email. I was disappointed to see no update on the stadium initiative in the state congress. It made my day sad.
