If it's 50/50, would it really be an upset? I think WKU / Gonzaga would be great matchup.

Any Of Our Coaches Go To This Thing
UNT90 replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Wow. I actually read one of your posts. Could it be because it was less than 8 paragraphs long? -
Syracuse has not been Big Time in some time. I blame that on the dome. See my research to back up the Dome relationship to the decline of the football program below:
-
BIG TIME college football ...not one example yet Yep, 4000 fans in the Alamo Dome is really gonna impress alot of recruits.
-
Domes are not conducive to big time collegiate football programs. Name one big time program that plays in a dome? It doesn't work because the Dome is always shared with a pro franchise and is never on campus. Domes also kill the college gameday atmosphere, which is all about being outside and on campus. You think it's hard to get UNT students to go to games, imagine trying to sell the UTSA student the prospect of driving across town to watch D1AA football. Then throw on top of that looking like you were the only one in a stadium with zero atmosphere. I would be interesting in seeing the Southland conference avg attendance. Take that attendance and cut it in half, and you would maybe have UTSA's first 3 years attendance average. They are so far beneath us, they are barely out of hell. I would bet they start a stadium campaign inside of 3 years.

No offense, KRAM, but you kinda always see the glass as overflowing, running down the street, and clogging up the storm drain. I hope they are greatly improved, but we will only know after the season opener.

Notebook: Unt Hopes To Build From Tourney Loss
UNT90 replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Are those true measurements? If so, we can list him in the program as 6'11" with a 49 inch verticle. -
I am not one of these "we are going to win 7 games and maybe even our conference" type of people who post on here (not that there's anything wrong with that......except they are probably delusional), but there is absolutely no way UTSA passes us in 4 years...or 6 years...or 8 years. They are coming back to play D1AA football. They face a whole host of challenges, some remarkably similiar to the challenges UNT faces. Coker destroyed one of the most potent recruiting pipelines while at Miami, which is why he had to take a job at a start up program. Good game day coach or not, he has proven to be a terrible recruiter. UTSA hasn't risen anywhere. They don't even have a freshman class. Lets wait 3 years. I bet you their record will closely resemble 3-21...against D1AA competition.

A true, offensive minded, low post scoring, 6'11" or 7' center would make going inside much easier. Not to mention opening up other players when the double and triple teams come. I'll take the true center with a low post game every time. The reality is these are few and very far in between, so we will probably have to settle for a true point guard. I was going to put settle in quotes, but feared the quotation police.

*** DISREGARD THIS BIO...I AM ON IR********* UNT90 VITALS: 6'4" 230lbs with a 40 time around 5 (that'd be 6'6" 250 4.8 40 in the program) In shape for my age (40 something). I am the quenessetial Tight End on offense. I hope this means I will get more than 3 snaps. A linebacker on defense. EXPERIENCE: More of a Basketball player than Football. I did recently play in a flag football tournament at work and had 1 TD reception, 1 extra point reception, 1 interception, and one pass defended against much younger competition. We were one game and out. Great technique in coverage makes up for a severe lack of speed. My basketball skills also make me a pretty good "blocker" in this type of game (I can sell the charge like a Mofo!) Was a legend in the PEB for my defense and rebounding on the Bball court. Once scored over and around Ronnie Morgan and Tony Worrell in a pick up game (Tony sold out for the head fake, nice fade away over Ronnie). PREDICTION: Should be a mid to late round pick due to annonimity and age descrimination, but will be a late round pick (see disclaimer). SHIRT SIZE: XL ******DISCLAIMER*******: Recently suffered a partially torn ligament in left ankle while playing basketball at the downtown Y. I have a Dr. appointment the week before the game to see if I get my full release. May be on the IR for the game (But I wanna play bad!!!!!)

I wish Alums could take the bus tomorrow. I'd go in a second.

Is the game on ESPN360 or ESPN Game plan, or both? I'm going to call the one local Sports Bar in Granbury and see if the have the package, if someone can tell me what package it is.

Jones Success Could Lead Others To Come Calling
UNT90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
If Jones does leave, which seems unlikely, I would love to see us pursue the head coach at UTA. Anyone who can win at that god forsaken gym/stage has got to be a fantastic coach. -
There is something wrong with talking with the Taliban. They are not a legimate government. By talking to them, you legitimize them to others, particularly those in Afganistan. Not a good message to send. Same thing for the puppet nut presenting the views of the Islamic Counsel in Iran and the even crazier nut in North Korea. Nothing wrong with dealing from position of strength with legit countries that are willing to talk in good faith.

This is what happens when a true believer of the left, combined with absolutely no life experience, becomes President. Truely scarey times. No wonder there has been a huge increase in the purchase of weapons and ammo by American citizens. Look for gun restriction legislation in the near future. Jimmy Carter thought he could just talk to the USSR, also. Stunning the similarities between the two.

No, my point was the dems will blame Pres. Bush for this economy as long as it is bad. Period. If that means Pres. Obama (yes, I show him respect by referring to him as Pres., not by using his middle initial) runs in 4 years with the economy still in the crapper, he and the Dems will blame it all on Bush, and will be seconded by the national media. You really show your ignorance (in the truest websters definition form) with your comments about war crimes. Congratulations on your indoctrination.

Steams me everytime Carter opens his mouth to comment on anything. All other former Presidents, recognizing the difficulty of the job, have made it a point not to comment publicly. The one who should keep his mouth shut and go away (based on job performance) is the biggest loudmouth out there (a sad plea to be politically relevant?). Even B. Clinton didn't really start his Bush bashing until he began campaigning for Hillary. If it were up to Carter's policies, we all would have been speaking Russian by 82 if he were reelected. Pres. Obama has already broke out the Carter economic playbook, lets just hope he doesn't follow suit with foreign policy. Carter = Most uninspiring Pres. in the history of the U.S. I used to think he was a good and decent private citizen, until he broke the ex-pres code in an attempt to recreate a different political legacy for himself. Showed an extremely self-centered side of the man.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090308/ap_on_...worst_recession Notiice three things in this article. 1) No mention of Jimmy Carter anywhere in referring to the economy of the LATE 70S and early 80's. I don't have to look it up, I lived it. Double digit unemployment, inflation, and interest rates (what I call the Carter Trifecta) when Reagan was elected. 2) Notice how they chose to blame Reagan, even though he inherited the problem and fixed it before the end of his 1st year term. Wonder if they'll hold Pres. Obama to the same standard? Think not. 3) Notice how the author goes out of his way to attempt to make this a worse situation than the late 70s - early 80s situation. This situation, when Pres Obama took office, was no where near as bad as when Reagan took office, although it has the chance now to get much worse.

Sun Belt Conference Tournament Bracket
UNT90 replied to e-bone ver2.awesome's topic in Mean Green Basketball
So, if Troy wins, Then seeds 1 - 4 would be in the semis. No upsets, and there always is at least one in a conference tournament. Since a 3 seed over a 2 really isn't an upset, this must mean that UNT will beat WKU in the semis!!! -
Does anyone know what time Monday's game starts? Yes, I am lazy.
-
Didn't know it was online only. That sucks.
-
Can I get the Sun Belt Package thru Dish Network?
-
For those of us who cant go, does anyone know of any TV coverag of the quarterfinals and semis?
-
No one knows what is being done to raise money for the stadium. I'm going to wait until after UNT gets approval from the state legislature to see what fundraising campaign is undertaken before yelling for the AD's head. No one knows what is going on behind the scenes. No need to try and speculate, after all, Spring football is here.
