  1. Then address the inconsistency in the press coverage, not the fact that she is wearing the clothing. And see how far that gets you. We all know what the press is, which is why they are slowly but surely dying (at least the traditional press).
  2. Easy. I'm sure it's all comp'd by the manufacturers. After all, wouldn't you want a young, attractive First Lady wearing your designs? Best free advertising EVER, especially with the pop culture Icon that is Pres. Obama. Don't forget, Nancy Reagan was critized for the same thing.
  3. Rangers have already posted 7 runs on the returning AL Cy Young Award winner and, more importantly, Millwood has pitched into the 7th and allowed 0 runs. Good things are happening for the Texas Rangers...at least today
  4. I would consider a student vote to inact an athletic fee in a horrible economy very good fortune. I'd also consider a public campaign to raise money for that stadium very fortunate, as it appears we have finally exited the "silent phase". Bigger picture.
  5. Seems like we should have a much more capable running game than passing game this year. Problem is this is a passing offense. Will adjustments be made? If not, I also see a long season ahead. Again, I hope I'm wrong.
  6. The title and subtitle of this thread led me to believe that the laws of physics had ceased to exist.
  7. The campus officer was just doing what was odered by his chief, who's boss is the President of the university. Politics. A mass shooting will very rarely end with police taking anyone into custody, because the shooters have already decided that they are going to die, either by thier own hand or by the police. You have no argument from me about police not being able to respond in time to stop the shooter from killing people, hence I favor CHL's and the right to carry on campus. BUT, police are trained to enter and confront the shooter as quickly as possible once arriving on scene, problem is, by that point, it is usually too late. A great demonstration would have been to have a friend run into the room and tag (with his hand) as many people as possible, then simply run back out. Then stand up and say "It can happen that quickly". It that doesn't drive home the point, I don't know what would.
  8. They are either 8 years behind the curve in training, which I highly doubt, or there were facts that they knew about that situation that kept them from immediately entering the building (the shooter was isolated away from any civilians is the most logical explanation). Nice quip on the end. Tell me, would you have the courage to charge into a building where an active shooter was steadily killing fellow citizens and confront that shooter? This is what officers are trained to do every day. I would suggest that you go down to your local police department and participate in thier civilian ride along program. It may open your eyes as to what the profession is all about.
  9. I wonder, since this was a federal building, I'll bet that CHL holders would have been prevented from carryong handguns anyway, much like on college campus (to get back to the original point of the thread). Very interesting.
  10. It looks like today may be the day that the quiet phase ends and the public campaign for funds begins. GMG!!!
  11. And now they are dead. They were sooo close to having that right. Wonder if they had it in the county from which they came? Sounds to me like it was a quick mass killing and then a quick suicide. Shooters like this rarely take hostages. The point is to kill as many people as possible before being killed/killing yourself. Damn video games.
  12. Where do you find that the shooting "went on for hours". I don't see that anywhere. The search probably did "go on for hours" to make sure there wasn't a second or third gunman, or even to make sure that he was the gunman.
  13. Actually, police are not trained to contain the situation anymore, they are trained to confront the assailant as quickly as possible. That change in training happened shortly after Columbine.
  14. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/hostage_shooting Defensless, they were.
  15. YET That website is less expensive than Cheaper than Dirt on those laser sights. Already priced it. Just FYI
  16. Please, no personal history on this board If you are dealing with a trusted source, you would go into a residence for added security. Many drug deals are done on parking lots because one or both parties are uncomfortable having the other party in their residence or being at the other person's residence. They fell things are less likely to go wrong if the deal is oone in a public place. It would be highly uncommon for this to be a small drug deal. Someone remind me again, what kind of car was Dawson driving at the time? I think it was a little out of the price range for a college senior, but I cant remember.
  17. It was a drug deal, so a large amount of money = a large amount of drugs.
  18. Dude. Police Departments don't operate off emotion, they operate from policy. He did not violate policy. There is nothing techical about it. Moats did nothing wrong by getting out of his car. The way he got out of his car is probably what concerned the officer. Should the officer have had enough common sense to realize what was going on? Of course. But there is no department policy defining common sense. And yes, I duded you. I saw an attorney on CHl 4 this morning who was connected to DPD in some way. He said that when they showed the video to younger officers, their reaction was "so, whats the problem?" But when they showed it to older officers, thier reaction was "What the hell is he doing!!!" There is a bigger issue here, which is how officers are trained to abide by policy and the extremely restrictive nature of these policies. Still strikes me as humorous that everyone ignores the fact that there were 2 officers at the scene and focuses all thier attention on one officer. Pack mentality.
  19. Violence can happen at any time. What doesn't happen is a guy from Dallas meeting a guy from Denton in Lewisvillle to buy a quarter ounce of weed. Like many have said, you can get a small amount of weed in any neighborhood. Makes no sense to make such a long drive for such a small amount. My guess is that when all the details come out, this will be a sustantial amount of marihuana or other drugs will be invloved. But it's only a very well educated guess.
  20. Lazer sights website, for those interested. http://www.opticsplanet.net/crimson-trace-laser-sights.html
  21. Exactly what language are you speaking?? English first!!!
  22. I thought we had moved past quoting Bevis and Butthead...Guess not.
  23. May want to wait until after the spring game/stadium update.
