And we wonder why our nation is in such bad shape. Sad that these were the choices that we had, and I include both heads of the tickets in this statement. But, on a strictly attractiveness basis, give me Coulter (as long as I can give her the crockadile dundee female test after seeing that adams apple). Was always a sucker for a skinny blond. Plus, although I see Coulter as extremely demanding, she would be far less annoying than Palin, dontcha knooow.

We can all hope and pray that an inexperienced D-line can resurrect a defense that gave up 47 points per game. Does anyone realize how ridicules that sounds? I really hope you guys are right, but there has been nothing in the last 2 years to indicate that the defense is even close to turning the corner, not with Mendoza, not with Deloach, and certainly not with a new position coach. How many savior coaches have to completely flop before people realize it's a talent deficiency that's the only problem that matters. But, hey, we can always dream.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...te.3786470.html "Before the construction of the indoor facility in 2003, the Cowboys used the indoor facilities at Coppell and Southlake Carroll." If only we had this kind of monetary support.

We hit the JUCO trail because Dodge needs to win now, otherwise we would have a lot more freshmen here this year. It's about football, not an academic approach. JUCOs are a much bigger risk, on and off the field. Everyone has to be treated on a case by case basis, but as a lower tier D1A school, we are only going to get the risky JUCOs (unless we take the ones with non-D1A talent). It's just a reality right now that we can't even beat out the Troy Sts. of the world for JUCO talent, so we have to take chances. Really, what does Dodge have to lose? If he does't recruit the JUCOs this year and attempt to improve the talent, he maybe wins a game and gets fired, so why would he care about the APR score when he may not even be here. He can always worry about the APR when he is sue he is employed.

I guess if you define 2002, or really 2005, as a very long time, your right. This is just crazy Spring optimism overstatement. This is one of the most unproven areas on the team. While I think there could be some improvement, I think it will be modest at best. As for an assistant coach making a huge difference, I refer you to defensive coordinator, UNT, 2008. Everyone thought Mendoza couldn't coach and Deloach would come right in and be a savior. Didn't happen. It's about talent on the field. Whenever you scrape the bottom of the recruiting barrell, most of the time you end up with less talented players. Thats what happened this past year. I really worry about this upcoming season.

I really can't see the APR improving with the way Dodge hit the JUCO ranks this year. Those guys were there for a reason. Just sayin...

I think, based on last year, the fact that we don't have experienced QB or WR play, and the horrendous defense (prove it and I'll believe), that your predictions are 10 - 15 points on the optimistic side. Ball St. should beat us by 30, as should Ohio, Bama by 50 (this hurts, cause I'll be there), and Army by 20. It must be Spring for TFLF to be this optimistic. While this may not happen, I think we all know that this is a real possibility. How would some of you eternal optimists (yes, you KRAM) feel if this came about? As always, I'll be thrilled if I'm wrong.

I'd bet next month's salary on Paul Schaffer being a receiver...

Funny stuff, along with the other post about SMU trying to steal our players. Lets do a quick comparison: UNT: SMU: 1-11 in SBC 1-11 in CUSA lost to Tulsa 56(coulda been 80) - 26 lost to Tulsa by 6 lost to Rice 77 - it doesnt matter lost to Rice 56-27 Has HC with HS experience Has head coach with NFL experience Just like some poeple thinking a certain recent DT signee was stolen from Arkansas when that DT wasn't even in the top six at his position in his Juco conference, this is just more SMU envy, which really is pointless. But looking at the above comparisons, maybe envy is deserved. I know it's the off season, but come on

Here's Why Government's Meddling
UNT90 replied to LongJim's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'd bet that the increased life expectancy of the Canadians have a lot more to do with diet and exercise habits of Canadians compared to Americans than they do with the different health care systems. Maybe thier habits are that way because they are afraid they will have to go to the doctor and receive substandard care if they don't treat thier body right. Have I mentioned that I love the Western Canadian Woman? Either that or they are just pickled and preserved from all the beer consumption. -
Here's Why Government's Meddling
UNT90 replied to LongJim's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
If you really believe the government will care more about you, give you more imput as a non-paying customer than a for-profit HMO or other private health care business that competes for your business, then you have a lot to learn about life. My best friend from High School lives in Canada. He tore up his knee and had to endure 6 months of pain (he has a highly physical job which he couldn't afford to miss) before finally getting his turn for knee surgery. He seriously considered going to the states and paying full price to get it done, but decided ot tough it out. He is NOT a fan of that health care system. -
You, sir, must be a communist to disparage the greatness of the bacon!!!

So, I guess the sky isn't falling after all. Sad thing is, I can see people in the future being skepitical of something that is truely dangerous. Due to the medical advances in the last 50 years, I doubt we will ever really have to worry about a serious pandemic in tis country. Now, if health care is socialized, all bets are off!

What a waste of time. Another grandstanding politician. I guess everything is going so well nowadays that this is all he has to worry about. And the republican party wonders why they keep losing power.

Thats how come the only death in Texas was a 2 year old. I would love to know the age, pre-existing health conditions, and living conditions fo those infected, along with the seriousness of thier symptoms. But, alas, none of that on the news (Darn HIPPA!!....don't want to get banned) I'll let y'all know how I'm feeling when I get back from a very relaxing, and hopefully sparsely crowded, Memorial day trip to Cancun. I hear the bacon is served by the beach! More proof of overreaction: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090501/ap_on_...swine_flu_virus Dr. Peter Palese, a leading flu researcher at New York's Mount Sinai Medical School, said the new virus appeared to be similar enough to other common flu strains that "we probably all have some type of immunity." "There is no real reason to believe this is a more serious strain," he said.
-
So maybe they shouldn't get everyone so alarmed over the FLU . I don't think it is the scientific community at all. I think they simple say, "Hey, there is a flu epidemic coming" and the politicians, idiot news reporters, and research hounds do all the rest. By the way, the city of Ft. Worth cancelled Mayfest because of 10 cases of this stuff! TEN!!! It will cost the organizers over $500,000 dollars. Idoit, overreacting politicians! And they probably don't even like Bacon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I Hate Most About America
UNT90 replied to emmitt01's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Your right, we should line them up and shoot them all!!! Then, we could evenly distribute all thier money to the underclass!! They probably just iinherited it anyway... Oh wait, that's been tried before... in RUSSIA! Seriously, why do you point out what someone else has? I just don't get all this class envy/warfare crap that is going on nowadays. Go make yourself a big pile of money. Bet you will see things differently. -
I'll take this about as seriously as I took SARS (not at all). I wouldn't alter your life at all unless you are an ailing plus 60 year old or a child under 6 (or care for the same), or you care for people of this age. A Dr. on the news described this as a milder virus than the common flu that goes around every year, but the problem is there is no vaccine. If one of these ever came from a chicken, I really hope they call it the Chicken Little Flu. That would be appropriate. As far eating bacon in Mexico, I said that mainly because I like bacon and any time I think of bacon it makes me happy. It just happened to fit the conversation. ummmmmmmmmmmm bacon!!!!!!!
-
I never get a flu shot, and haven't had the flu since I was a kid, and I have to ride packed elevators most days at work. I don't think I have anti-flu serom in my DNA. I kind of view the whole flu shot thing as a scam to get in your and your employer's pockets.
-
It's the freakin flu!!! I'll bet you 500 don't die, much less 500,000. I'm going to Mexico over Memorial weekend. Gonna eat a ton of bacon and lie on the beach. The dumbest crap I've ever heard. You know, I don't know anyone that contracted SARS. Wasn't that supposed to kill us all?

For those conspiracy theorist out there, the congressional vote to nationalize health care is a mere week away... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Do find it humorous that congress will spend less time reading this bill than the time spent by the state legislature analyzing the athetic fee.
