Just say what you think people want to hear without challenge from a press that is a) to busy covering American Idol or Lindsey Lohan rehab or to in love with you to challenge you on any issue, and, presto, you become President and then can go back on everything you said in your campaign. Where are the proclamations of "Obama lied"?? Nowhere, because he can do no wrong in the eyes of his biggest fans, the American media. Double standards a plenty.

So thats a good thing? I hope we replace many of last seasons starters with more talented players, otherwise hello 0-12.

No game... but they are still in 1st place. -
No, cops can arrest you for violating a law, which means cops can arrest you for walking on a street when a sidewalk is available, for walking on a public road with traffic where a sidewalk is not available (not walking against traffic). Doesn't mean they will, but they absolutely have that ability. Next time you get stop for a traffic violation, try acting like that girl and see how long it takes to get put in cuffs. The reason the arrest option exists is exactly for situation like this, where a person refuses to abide by a law, even after being told over and over again that she would be arrested if she didn't stop breaking the law. Take that power away, and how do you enforce the law? She would just continue to stand there, violating city ordinance, leaving the cop with nothing to do but keep shouting at her. Oh, and get real, JD. Everyone knows hippies steal more than they ever buy.

Tell that to the businessman whose front door these people were blocking/impeding. I takes as much time as a speeding ticket. Non-issue. Seems to me that a little communication with authorities before the "demonstration" would have averted this whole thing. I bet you the people that organized this demonstration knew they were violating the law, thus didn't communicate anything with the city. Great restraint shown by the officers to arrest just the one girl. I'm sure the person with the camera was disappointed that more weren't arrested in thier "demonstration".

I voted for improvement. I voted for 41 - 45 ppg. How can this be an oxymoron? I see KRAM voted for 0 - 20

First, an ADA will never see this case because this was a violation of a city ordinanace. Think traffic ticket. These cases go before the municipal court and city prosecutor. Second, the officers were probably dispatched to the scene because of a complaint by the business owners about these people blocking the sidewalk. Trust me, the business owners know that law and probably demanded action. Third, all the officer asked them to do was leave, about 100 times, and told them they were violating the law and that they would be charged if they didn't leave. He arrest one girl, who wanted her 15 minutes (and got it) and knew she was going to be arrested. Everyone else complied and walked away. Fourth, she's lucky he did not charge her with Fail to ID (assuming Va. has this charge) and resisting arrest, as there is enough video evidence to charge, if not convict, for resisting, at least in this state. SO to say the officer was anything but generous would be completely foolish. Fifth, this is a non-issue. Just a cop doing his job (the cop in the truck was probably working a part time nearby and came over to help). Sixth, JD = Hippie protester in his younger days. Much hate for the policeman.

Rangers sweep the Angels with a 3-0 win this afternoon. The game took 2 hours, 40 minutes. Beat Jared Weaver. 4 1/2 game lead, 9 games over .500, 2nd best record in the American league. KRAM, for gods sake, please go negative on UNT football. It may ensure a winning season!!! Good things ARE happening for the Texas Rangers!!! -

In a perfect world, everyone would take the time to research each candidate, and not spend thier free time watching Jerry Springer and reading "Us" magazine. In a prefect world, half the women in America wouldn't make thier voting decisions based on an episode of Oprah. I agree with the concept that it is up to the individual to do thier research, I just wish they wouldn't vote if they don't research the candidates. Too bad the system can't be weighted to give more weight to the vote of a person who has reiewd certain material on each candidate. But, if we did that, liberals would never win an election. -

The division lead is now at 3 1/2 games. Rangers win today, 5 - 3, giving this thread an extended life. Pitching is looking very good... But, it's early -

Again, in theory, your right. In pratice, the only ones they are accountable to are they lobbiest and thier special interest groups that dump millions in thier campaign funds to ensure the politician's re-election. You can't have campaign finance reform, because you do run into constitutional issue with that, leaving term limits as the only viable way out of this current mess (that I can see, anyway). -

They could only do damage for 2 - 6 years, not 20 plus years. I don't get why you think that someone with no concern for re-election could do more damage than someone whose major concern is re-election. -

Watch her last press conference. So easy to tell that she is lying. I'm sure that Alexander Hamilton would be extremely proud of what congress has become if he were alive today. Hamilton was absolutely a politician. -

I have no doubt that politicians started taking advantage of the system as soon as the system was put into place. Thats what they do. As for Alexander Hamilton, shocking a politician is arguing for a class of career politicians, isn't it? I would love to see politicians eliminated altogether, much less have any career politicians. I think term limits would go a long way toward that goal. If it's OK for the President, why not for congressmen? -

And the only viable answer to this is term limits. Smart people will know what to do, rookies or not, and I would much prefer rookies with no special interest ties to a 20 term fatcat who calculates every move to ensure his re-election. Presidents only get 8 years, and this was changed after FDR, so I don't really see a constitutional issue. And if it's so hard for rookie congressmen, imagine what it was/is like for Bush/Pres Obama when they took office. The "no experience" tag is just an excuse. Not to mention, there would be no "System" (process) or political Hierarchy if you eliminated the Hierarchy that created the "System". -
