  1. I used to think Scott Boras was the baseball anit-christ, but I now realize it is Tom Hicks (not to mention soccer anti-christ and Arlington development anti-christ). Mr. Promise the Moon and Deliver Nothing. Please, God, end the devil's reign and send someone with the least bit of sense to buy this franchise. Just ask the fans of the English soccer club how they feel about Hicks. Or, for that matter, the Arlington City Council, who has twice relied on promises from Tom Hicks for development around the ballpark and Cowboy Stadium, only to get squat. Please, move to NY or New Jersey, Mr. Hicks.
  2. "In order to fill the void left by the program, Athletics is reaching out to high school marching band programs to perform at sporting events." At least they aren't reaching out to high school coaches... cheap, but I couldn't resist.
  3. Yes, the end is upon us. A month of hitting .208 is a pretty good sample pool. Again, why does Jaramillo get all the credit and none of the critizism? .208 for a freakin month? really? .168 with runners in scoring position in the same month? really? Swing from your heels at balls that bounce in front of the plate? really? This is a trend, not a one week deal. How I wish this team would have learned from the LA Dodgers how to work counts and be situational hitters. I really wish Jaramillo knew how to instruct this way.
  4. Shocking!!!! The NYT manipulating a poll to get a desired result. NO! The National Inquirer puts out a more credible journalistic publication than this rag.
  5. No hitting (again) in a great pitching performance by Holland. This could be the last day of your 1st place Texas Rangers. I know everyone thinks Jaromillo is a god around here, but when does accountability for Saltalamaccia, Davis, and other can't miss hitting prospects roll around his way??
  6. Weapons for citizens to defend themselves against their own government? Na, just need more gun control. Don't underestimate the underlying influence of what has happened in Iraq to what is now happening in Iran. Educated Iranians have watched free elections in Iraq and now want the same for their country. Our involvement in Iraq has much more influence with these educated Iranians than what happened in 1953. Whatever our government decides to do, it needs to follow through with what promises it makes to the Mousavi movement, otherwise we do repeat the mistakes of the past.
  7. I can see the question in this NYT poll already: "Do you support Pres. Obama's plan to lower health care cost for the average American through federal intervention?" Who wouldn't say yes. The Daily Sun is a more reliable source than the NYT.
  8. Looks like this thread could come to an end within days.
  9. I think the opponents on our 2009 schedule salivate every time they see us. Just sayin...
  10. Overexplaining is never funny.
  11. Actually, if we go 11-1 this year, with the sole loss to bama, we will be undefeated this year in three years!!!! Trying this joke again to see if anyone gets it (never a good idea.)
  12. Steroids or HGH??? Lighten up, them just jokes.
  13. Don't buy the hype. I'll believe we have an improved defense when they hold an OCC opponent under 40. KRAM??? Why are you posting under FFR's name?
  14. Does anyone know when the last time the Rangers scored more than 7 runs in a game? Seems like forever.
  15. Everyone still think they are nothing to worry about?
  16. Athletes - Yes, many football and basketball players may not be able to attend college without the scholly, but what about Baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, and all the other scholarship sports? Many of these have athletes from very affluent families. Musicians - years and years of music lessons to get to a collegiate scholarship level = at least middle class Foreigners - didn't know you got a scholarship for growing up in a different country minorities - didn't know you got a scholarship for being a minority Artists - don't know about that I think the better argument is academic scholarships, which go to those that exceed in school. No amount of money needed, unlike to play on AAU teams (and hope Mel Hall ain't your coach) or take music lessons.
  17. Would love to see actual numbers on this. After all, I don't think Rielly Dodge was really in need of that scholarship.
  18. Because of what we did in Iraq, the US is viewed much differently by the educated and affluent in Iran. Why do you think they are demanding fair elections? Because they have heard about them on the internet and through relatives in Iraq. This is what the Iraq policy was all about, to bring democracy to the middle east. To sit on our hands right now is the absolute worst thing this country can do. Hopefully, we are doing things and offering support behind the scenes to these protesters so they know they are not unsupported and on an Island. I would be fine with that. Do I trust this administration to do that? No.
  19. And to think that the Federal Government is the be all, end all, and will solve this problem is extremely naive. Any social problem that the Fed Government has ever attempted to solve, it has only made it much worse. Look at Education. Billions pumped into the Dept. of Ed. since it's inception, and the level of education continues to decrease each year. The only avenue that the federal government has ever pursued, and the only one it knows, is to throw money at the problem. I definitley don't have the answer on this, but I know, without a doubt, that the federal government is not it.
  20. Saying it loud doesn't make it any truer. We are #120 until we prove otherwise.
  21. Finally, one of our coaches leaves for another team, and it's not a 5A team. At least he is taking a step up, not back.
  22. Had to change that one little word for you. For those who don't want CHristians in their party, what the hell is wrong with you? Would you prefer a bunch of athiest or, I don't know, devil worshipers instead? Because anything is better than a Christian, right? Those Christians and their pesky little commandments. We don't necessarily like to follow all of those rules, so to make ourselves feel better, lets just belittle those Christians, maybe even portray them as nuts, because, after all, we need to justify our own behavior to ourselfs. If they are nuts, then we can feel so much better about ourselves and our own unrepentant behavior. Self-justification is our false God! And, for the record, I'm not that religious.
  23. Ok??? All I did was agree with Emmitt and add a statement pertaining to today's work environment.
