  1. Yes, and I'm sure the property industry calls it a "loss" when they have to replace homes damaged by tornadoes. Don't emotionalize the issue. There is nothing wrong with the insurance company making a profit, otherwise why be in business? Sure, the Fed. government will offer it cheaper, because they have taxpayers to cover the loss (or the will just put it on the credit card known as the national debt).
  2. I would love to see someone research the last two years (07-08) of games the Rangers played against good starting pitchers (4.0 ERA or less) and see how the Rangers offense did against these pitchers compared to the rest of the league. Would also like to see a comparison of games the Rangers played against bad starting pitching (5.0 or higher) and see how the Rangers compared to the rest of the league against these guys. My sneaking suspicion is that the Rangers punish the bad pitchers at a higher pace than the rest of the league, but are worse than the rest of the league against the good pitchers. And I base that only on my limited but vast knowledge of MLB and absolutely no research. Anyone care to check?
  3. They have definitely made baseball interesting past middle April for the first time since 2004(?). Losing 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth to the lowly Padres. I don't know if the bats will ever awaken. A week is a slump, a month is a trend. Can't believe they were one-hit by the Padres, one of the worst teams in baseball who take the series at home from the Rangers. Not a good feeling going into the Angels series. Again, when does Jaramillo start taking some heat? The hitting is comparable to a pitching staff that has a 7.00 ERA
  4. Interesting read. http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...8.139f84a7.html
  5. And this is the reason for the injury concern. He is 5'9" 185lbs, not exactly ideal size for a D1 QB. This is what causes me concern for injury more than any previous injury history. The guy is just really small for the position he plays.
  6. Found this little gem courtesy of the Newburg report. Pretty funny. Also explains some of Blevins supposed egotistical statements after being drafted. http://rangersprospect.mlblogs.com/archive...ls-on-fire.html
  7. “This is not the beginning and it is certainly not the end, folks,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Andy Arena said at a news conference this morning. Arena said the message to corrupt public officials is, “We’re coming after you.” Ya, we are coming after you, as long as you are a member of city or state government. Congress? Naw, they control our budget, so we will just leave them alone.
  8. Just heard a tennis player on ESPN eulogize Jackson with the following statement: "He touched many people" Somewhere, a ESPN editor is snickering with his buddies.
  9. Well, I see I can't multi-task near as well as i used to. UNTBill, my apologies. Didn't mean to shout down someone in agreement. Quoner, thanks for tackfully pointing out my error.
  10. Giving a grown man of no relation access to your kid for sleep overs, especially one with as many issues as Jackson, is very bad parenting (for the 1st kid). Giving a person previously accused of pedophilian behavior access to your kid is extremely bad parenting. Again, would you have ever let your kid spend the night alone with Jackson? It's not the kids fault they had bad parenting and it doesn't condone what happened.
  11. Nice comment about 12 year old children. Their parents were far from innocent, but the kids really had no choice in the matter.
  12. Actually, it was burn in hell. And it wasn't a demand, more of an observation of the consequences of his behavior. I guess I could have just coombyaed with all the other "what a great musician" posts and ignored Jackson's well documented accusations of pedophilia, but that just doesn't seem very honest. By the way, Jackson was in debt spending mode by the time the second victim made the allegation, so there was no huge financial prize to be won. Again, it's easy to say that you believe 100% in every verdict arrived at by a jury when it has no immediate affect on your family.
  13. Would you drop your son off at Jackson's house for an overnight stay? I bet not. And you of all people should know juries get it right in these type of cases about 60% of the time. Funny how some of the same people on here that will rail about OJ are so quick to just give Jackson a free pass. Gee, could it be because OJ's career was over and he wasn't giving us anymore entertainment value, so it's so much easier to accuse him than it is Jackson, who was still producing music when these allegations came out? Human nature is a funny thing.
  14. And the thread survives for another day. Barely. Good to see Davis show some signs of life.
  15. So Dirk's kid will be, what, 5 years old before any of these guys contribute? Winter's coming and the window is closing.
  16. Inaccurate. The first accuser's parents opted to take 28 million instead of putting their son through a very traumatic experience of a high publicity trial. The second child, almost ten years later, did not file a law suit against Jackson until after Jackson was found not guilty by a jury who was allowed to hear nothing about the first victim. The money point is almost laughable, considering these parents were giving up their free ride by reporting the crime. They were very well taken care of by Jackson before the crimes were reported. He's a celebrity, it's California, and it's a child's word against his. Gee, what will a California jury do? But, hey, we all love our Michael Jackson music, so lets just close our eyes and pretend nothing happened. If you really believe the highlighted sentence, please look at any literature available in the library or on the net about profiles of pedophiles. Seriously.
  17. You remember him as the King of Pop if you want, I'll remember him as the King of Pedophilia. Any man that says it is OK to share a bed with a boy, escorts Emanuel Lewis to an award show, pays families to allow him unfettered access to their young sons, and is twice accused of molestation by two boys who didn't know each other is a pedophile, plain and simple. Sad thing is we will never know how many young boys lives were altered by this freak. But, hey, he wrote some songs, so lets mourn for him. Like I said, Burn in hell, Mr. Jackson. Let's see, numerous plastic surgeries, drug problems, personality disorders. Ya, he wasn't trying desperately to mental escape from anything.
  18. And the Gaudeloupean will lead them to the title! Just please keep him away from Crystal Taylor.
  19. No, but he would, if you were a 9 year old boy.
  20. So long, pedophile. Burn in hell.
  21. So, what I get from this is that the conservative papers trumpet an American victory, while more liberal sites (Yahoo) choose to ignore the good things happeneing for America.
