  1. Many people in this country, justly or unjustly (history would suggest justly, by the way), have a very strong distrust of government, be it city, state, or federal. When these people see a new president suddenly taking partial federal ownership of the auto and banking industry, and pushing for full federal ownership of the Health Care Industry, which is approximately 20% of the total economy, all within the 1st year of his administration, these people are going to react very negatively, as many congressmen found out at town hall meetings. This is why there was such a stink about the school speech. It wasn't the speech that people were upset about, it was the perception that here is one more thing this president is trying to control, right or wrong. Without the banking, auto, and attempted health care takeover, I doubt this speech would have even been an issue.
  2. After we diced the Ball St defense last week, I would expect to see more press coverage this week, challenging R. Dodge to throw the deep ball. Will this be a good or a bad thing?
  3. The sad thing is, with this schedule, we have zero... ZERO!!! Z E R O!!!!! chance at an at large bid!!! Lose in the conference finals and we are done for the year, I don't care if we are 23-6. Really disappointed that we have a team that will probably be favored to win the conference, and we don't give them 1) a chance for an at large bid 2) ANY challenging OCC home games (and how embarassing if we lose one?). After thinking about it, I won't be attending any home games against the non-D1 programs and may not come until conference play begins. Come on RV, I know you have been concentrating on the stadium, but this is sooooooo embarassing.
  4. Have you been tailgating early??
  5. Wouldn't think OU would be at 5, being that they lost their starting QB before half and played a ranked team. Virginia and Oregon are good bets. Give me Oregon.
  6. The OOC schedule SUCKS... Let me repeat that...SUCKS Hugely disappointing. I was hoping to see at least 5000 at The Pit one time this year. Won't happen. Hopefully Texas A&M has a return game with us. I probably won't go to a home game until conference play.
  7. It just seemed that we were extremely quick in pursuit. Sooooo different than last year, when it looked like we were running in sand compared to the other team. No matter whether the d-line is merely average or will be approachig greatness next year, we are a competitive D1A football team for the 1st time in two years!!! Ok, I need to tell myself again, tap the brakes!
  8. When - Plan on setting up at about 10 AM (blk Expidition flying a UNT Alumni banner on top - stop by for a beer) Where - Blue lot, close to the free bud light RV (God, please let iit be there!) With who - a group of friends (only 1 other UNT grad). There will be about 10-12 of us. What's cooking - Steak, ribs, and chicken Drinks - Beer (silver bullet, bud light), water, and gatorade
  9. In a word, No... And maybe we should tap the breaks just a bit. We did have trouble getting consistent pressure on the QB facing an O-line that had 4 new starters. I am excited, but lets see what happens this week.
  10. This fact alone is cause for celebration. I had the over/under for opponent punts at 2 going into the Ball St. game.
  11. Don't be so negative. High of 88 and only a 30% chance of T-storms, which means sunny until they build (if they build). With the weathermen predicting this 5 days out, it'll probably be sunny and 95
  12. So, with Ohio ranked 99, we are favored, right???
  13. John Weber had a quiet start to his UNT career, not getting a mark on the UNT stat sheet. He played DT for a majority of his plays (thought he was an end???). He did have a QB pressure, but managed to grab the facemask of the QB during that pressure, resulting in a 15 yard penalty. Slow start by the big man, but better days are ahead!
  14. Seems like the only ones on here making a big deal about this are the left leaners who again want to find anything to vilify conservatives. Can't we all focus on a UNT win and leave the stupid politics alone for a week? Please?
  15. Ditto... Except I would choose Gill as the one lineman for specific recognition. Rewatching the game on the DVR, you can really see his dominance in this game
  16. They're back. NCAA gotta keep the cash cows happy.
  17. First time to attend one of these things, so I guess the crowd was good (maybe 40 people)?? When Coach Dodge walked in, the crowd gave him a nice hand. Said Rodge missed an assignment when he got in his face (I think Rodge rolled to the wrong side). Told the fans to get on board now while there was still rom on the bandwagon. RV was there and accessible as always.
  18. The only thing missing from Dodge being the total package is winning. Hopefully that comes a little bit this year and a lot next year. Dodge will be able to take this program to new heights IF he proves he can coach talent at the college level. Last week was the first step in that direction. I have always been impressed with everything he has brought to the program outside of coaching (media friendly and completely on board with the promotion of the program), now, let's just get that win streak past 1.
  19. Called thm, and the coaches show is definitely on for today.
  20. Call the Pour House, they say it is still a go for tomorrow
  21. No, white trash flag/banner hanging device. PVC pipe cut at the base to fit the luggage rack of the top of my car, then four pvc pipes going up, coming together on each end to form a triangle, then another piece of pvc pipe going from the point of one triangle to the other. This is where you hang the banner/flag. VERY white trashy, but it worked out well. _ / \ looks somthing like this
  22. I'm there if it is not cancelled. I can then make a swing by Voertman's to load up on some Mean Green gear for the 1st tailgate. Voertman's is open regular hours tomorrow, in case anyone cares.
  23. UNT 31 Ohio 21 They sold me last week. Man does it feel good to be able to actually predict a win in a very un-KRAM-like way (you know, 50-10 over OU mindless optimism stuff ) I have my white trash flag hanging device (PVC pipe rigged to the top of of car) ready to go, along with my UNT Alumni banner. All I need now is a Green a White Texas Flag and I'm set!!
  24. Someone on here told me this game was on channel 21 tonight. EDIT** It doesnt show up on the guide function of my remote.
  25. The Rangers have pulled within 3 1/2 games of the Angels. Angels seemed to FINALLY be struggling offensively. Rangers need to win 4 or 5 more in a row during this stetch where they play the patsies of the AL. They will be within 2 games of the Angels by the time the 1st of 2 series begins during the last week and a half of the season. Fun times, an an unneeded distraction from UNT football.
