Re-watching the game, I noticed he throws a much tighter spiral than Riley and appears to have the better arm. Mobility is a huge concern, especially in this offense. Also, locking on to his first receiver also may be an issue.

Alabam Crimson Tide Look A Like Thread
UNT90 replied to MeanGreenEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Lou Saban is a dead ringer for Rick Perry (I don't know how to post pictures... so technically challenged). Also, if you see Nathan Tune in person, he is dead on for country singer Randy Travis. -
John Weber was a DNP due to injury.
-
Uh...technically one of the passes hit him in the head, not between the numbers. Coaching desrves a D at the highest. 3rd and four, 4 point lead, backup QB who almost threw a pick the previous series, at your opponent's 36, about 9 minutes left in the 3rd. RUN THE FREAKING BALL!!! Oh, and put your best running back in the game to do it.
-
Coach Dodge's reaction was because Riley rolled the wrong way on the play. Riley was supposed to roll to the other side, and if he had, he would have seen the tight end (did I really just say that!!) wide open in the end zone. That was the point of Coach Dodge's little speech with young Riley.

Bama-54 UNT-14 Still at least a year away from competing in these type of games. For us to win, Alabama would have to turn the ball over 5 or six times, with us taking advantage of the turnovers. Tune showed some spunk coming back from the pick last night, but he is not very mobile and will be a sitting target for the Alabama d line. If we are able to run the ball at all, the score could be closer, but that is a tall order against Alabama.

Several observatios after re-watching the game on the DVR: Reilly looked like the redshirt freshman he is in this game. Not a dig on him, just part of the maturation process. Two lost fumbles and threw some really bad deep balls. He has got to get out of the habit of floating the ball when he has receivers streaking uncovered down the sideline. That said, this injury may be the best thing for Rodge and the team long term (as long as he's not out more than a game). Alabama is not an opponent that I think he is ready for at this point, not to mention they are huge and he is 5'9" (maybe) and the injury concern is great. The first "drop" by Outlaw would have been a hell of a catch, if he made it, as he was screened by the defender until right before the ball got there. And it wouldn't have ensured victory as there was still about 2 minutes left when he failed to make that play, although I would have liked our chances the way the D was playing. The second drop by outlaw was just that, a drop. Ain't no excuses for that one. Hit him right in the hands. Feel sorry for the kid, as I know he is kicking himself for the drop. TV replays didn't help much with the possible safety at the end of the first half. Judgement call by the official, and it was real close. . Third and 4 from the opponents 36 with 9 minutes left in the game, up by 4, and your second team QB on his second series after almost throwing a pick on his first series. You gotta run the ball. Hell, you even have the option for a long field goal try if you don't pick it up, or you pin them deep and play field position football. Horrible, horrible play call. Cam Montgomery sits on the first 2 series that Tune is in the game. Unless Montgomery was shaken up, another very bad decision. Finally put Cam back in, and you go down the field for the tying score (Much props to Tune for shaking off the pick). Gotta have your best runner in there when your QB gets hurt Defense was very good. Some receivers ran open, but pressure from the d-line caused the QBs to miss them most of the time. I'll admit it now, I was very wrong about Mr. Adkinson. Special teams (outside of Atteberry) were not that special. A big punt return immediately preceeded the Ohio TD pass that made the score 17-13. Punt returns were non-existent for us. Ohio's special teams were worse than ours, though, and this unit is light years from where they were one year ago. Lets just hope we come out healthy from the Alabama game.
-
Yep. They will have them there at the next game.
-
GOOD: One word, DEFENSE, we now have one. Also, who actually thought that Atteberry would step right in and do as well as he has. No drop off at all in the punting. BAD: Play calling. Up 10-3 in a monsoon of a game, you kick the field goal on 4th and 1 at the 1. Period. It puts you up 2 scores. With 10 minutes left in the 4th, your defense playing out of their mind, your 2nd string QB being forced into action, and you face a 3rd and 4 at the opponents 45, so you naturally give it to Cam on a draw, right? NO, you throw it to the other team for a TD. The ABSOLUTE worst call of the game, and there were many from which to choose. WAY to much Dunbar and not enough Cam in the 4th quarter. Still don't know if Rodge can throw the long ball. O-line took a step back. 4th and 15 touchdown. Inexcusable. UGLY: Weather. Parking Nazis. My shriveled up feet after my tennies got soaked.

The ironic thing is that the gift to the alumni for season ticket purchase was an unmbrella. No kidding. They had them on the porch, but wouldn't give them to you unless you were leaving the game. Thought that was pretty funny.

After Rodge had been through the sideline huddle and Tune had been in the game for a couple of series, I saw Rodge meeting players coming off the field, holding his left hand at his waist with his elbow tucked against his body. Almost looked like a collarbone injury the way he was holding it. I hope that is not the case. Point is, the shoulder was definitely injured.
-
The Alumni side was on their feet almost all of the night. Old people gotta have something to stand up for. Last year there wasn't anything.

37-10 late in the 3rd. Score one for the little guys (even though CU sucks).

Tackling A Cyclone
UNT90 replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Too bad the younger generations won't get the anticipation of waiting on the morning sports section, reading all the articles about the previous night's game (especially baseball), looking at the game box score to see how your favorite players fared, and reading the inning by inning scoring summary. Good times. Sometimes I'll do this on a Sunday morning on the rare occasion there is nothing on the agenda. It's nice to have all this technology at our fingertips, able to get everything you need at the touch of a computer key, unfortunately it takes a lot of the romance out of sports. -

Chance of rain today is 50% and it hasn't rained in Fort Worth since 8:30. It will be like this tomorrow. Showers come thru, then leave. It won't be steady rain rain all day long. I guarantee it. We will only have a couple of 30 minute spurts. I expect recognition when I'm right about this. If I'm wrong... Nevermind.

77-20. You and I know it's a new year, but it takes the media some time to let go of past impressions.

Weather Forecast For The Ohio Game, Not Good....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztHNs_b_sy0 RAIN!!! With a little UNT connection. -
Don't give up on this. If the front comes through before noon, the rain will be gone shortly after. This would be a great thing and would look awesome on camera. Don't let a little rain discourage your group. Don't they make waterproof body paint? (removable with a gasoline bath??)

Obama To Speak To School Kids
UNT90 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Easy there. Just because some parents don't want their kids to hear the Presidents speech doesn't make them racists, or even stupid. If a parent doesn't want their child to hear any politician speak, that's their right as a parent, and would actually make them pretty smart. No need for a child, especially a young child, to be bored to death by someone they don't even know telling them what they should do. Would you feel the same way if this was President Rush Limbaugh or President Ann Coulter we were talking about? -
Pete Delkus At 5 O'clock Said...........................
UNT90 replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
The Thunderstorms will form along the frontal line in the mid to late afternoon. They will be in a line, and will blow through in about an hour. Bank on it. 100% chance of rain means for sometime during the day, not all day. The good thing is this year I have been the human rain shield (as the level of Lake Grabury demonstrates), so my theory is that all the rain will stay west (for a change), and the game will be rain free. -
then I would definitely need a rain coat
-
I confirmed with the ticket office yeasterday that if they are not using a seat (on your lap), they are not charged. My friend's 2 year old is going and they had the same question. The only rain gear I'm bringing in is a plastic ziplock bag, and that is for my cell phone. Don't forget the plastic ziplock bag, it could save you $100 plus for a new I phone (not that I have one of those). I'd rather be wet than struck by lightening, so I would stay away from the umbrella even if they were allowed.

Braver man than me. Wyoming in November, hell, October, is not a place I want to watch an outdoor football game.
