  1. I would be very interested in the list of countries in which you feel safer.
  2. Sure. Let's start with foreign policy. Carter thought that if only the rest of the world knew that we had good intentions, they would like us. Carter thought that by talking to enemies and giving them concessions, they would understand that we mean them no harm and would reciprocate the behavior toward us. Carter thought that limiting missiles in Europe would encourage the former USSR to do the same. Pres. Obama's policies are exactly like those of Carter, from removing missiles in Europe, apologizing to the Arab World, demanding oncessions from Isreal, to being open to dealing directly with Iran and N. Korea. Same basic premise that Carter took toward foreign policy. These all sound great in theory, but fail miserably in practice. When you have enemies that want to destroy you, and nothing you can say or do will change their minds, offering concessions will only strengthen their resolve and give you the appearance of weakness in their eyes. Dealing through strength is the only way to deal with these types of enemies. Domestically, Jimmy Carter was the most liberal American President ever elected... until Pres. Obama Even Carter realized Govt. run healthcare was a loser. But, Carter did think that the government was the answer to a recession, increasing taxes and social programs. That led to 20% interest rates and 12-15% inflation. Talk to an non-partisan economist, and he will tell you that the path we are on now and with the proposed social programs coming to pile on top of the debt and deficeit, there is no possible way that inflation and interest rates don't increase. Pres. Obama's proposals are Carter x 10, which is extremely scary. There is less room for error, thanks to the debt we are already in (thank you, so-called conservative republican party), and his social programs dwarf those of Carter. That is it in a nut shell. Do some research on Jimmy Carter, and you will be astonished at the similarities.
  3. So, since Pres. Obama is CEO of the US, and he just got a bonus of 1.4 million for doing nothing (Nobel Peace Prize Award), will we see him voluntarily give this to the US Government to help pay down the debt? I think not.
  4. Yep, 10 days into his term, he was already peace prize worthy. His parallel path with Jimmy Carter continues...
  5. We saw it with Davis this year. I still don't understand why he had to go to a minor league hitting instructor to get straightened out (I know, confidence is the argument). Jarimillo's contract expired at the end of this past season. It will be interesting to see if Ryan makes a Maddux-like hitting coach hire. I worry that since Nolan was a pitcher, he may let other people make this decision.
  6. I was reading Jamey Newburg's latest entry about Hank Blalock, who has gone from can't miss, best hitting prospect in years to regressing every year since his first half year in the major leagues. Particularly disturbing is the amount of walks he drew when he first arrived, to going 136 straight plate appearances this year without one. I really think the person we should be saying goodby to is Rudy Jarimillo.
  7. I bought one in sec E last week 5 hours before the game at the ticket office.
  8. Ull - 27 UNT - well, 20, 20 (in regulation), bama, 21... So I'll be optimistic and say... 24
  9. Hooray for you. A great story. I think you being who you are today has a lot more to do with your mother than it does with any federal program. And your mother used those programs for what they were intended, a temporary stop gap until you can get back on your feet. Unfortunately many are not like you and your family, and it's not entirely their fault. I've seen generations of many families that never leave the government teet because that's all they have known and all they ever will know, and, sadly, don't have the ability to break the cycle. I've seen programs that promote single parenthood by paying a single mother to stay single and keep the father out of the house. I've had 19 year old girls tell me they were going to have their third kid so they could get a bump in pay from the "welfare department". There was not an incentive for them to do anything else. And I don't consider the GI bill a social program. You did something to earn that, right? Completely different than a hand out. Like I have said about many subjects, there are exceptions to every rule, but, unfortunately, they are far fewer on this subject.
  10. How do you paint them? And what specifically do you disagree with in my post? The broad brush was used on government social programs, not the poor.
  11. Poor people are kept poor by who? Can you say the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Why work when you don't have to? Just depend on the federal government to give you a place to live (federal housing, section 8, etc..) and pay for your food (food stamps). Let's see, shelter and food are on the basic list of human needs and are a great motivating factor for self improvement. Well, unless the federal government is willing to give you those things. Oh, you need more money? Well, just have another child and get yourself a raise!! And what are you required to do to get these things? Maybe attend a job program or something? Nope, just simply breath air and provide a current address. Yes, I do have sympathy for the disadvantaged, and I pitty them for having the federal goverment as a parent. Ask yourself this, since the federal government has decided to step in and "solve" the poverty problem, what has happened? Are you ready for the same thing to happen to health care? It's a shame that this wasn't left to private charities and neighborhood churches, who used to handle helping the poor. People were held accountable for improving themselves through most church programs. They also may have found a better path for their life through the church. Members of the community also couldn't ignore the poor when they saw them at Sunday morning service. People who wanted out of poverty could get there. Those who didn't, well, they chose their path, which is what this country is about, right? Yes, I have A LOT of experience with the disadvantaged. Some kids never have a chance because of their parents, who have been morally bankrupted, partially by their own choosing, partially by the government programs that requires no morallity from them. Nothing any fed government program can do to help these kids.
  12. Number 8: "Hey, at least I didn't sleep with Palin's 14 year old daughter... yet." Sexual harassment had to do with the position of power that the harasser holds over the underling. That said, many of these women probably pursued him, but it still doesn't make the upstairs "bunker" (liberals can never get war terms right) any less creepy. Oh, Number 7: "There were no 13 year olds or qualudes involved, but I take the fifth on GHB"
  13. 3:47 on this? really? If this were the BUsh administration, the standard "Lighten up, it's just comedy" line would be issued by CNN, while everyone in that newsroom snickered their approval. Funny, no investigative report into "stupid" Pres. Bush actually having an Ivy league degree? About actually running an oil business, and then a baseball business? About actually leading a state? Nope. Just the knowing wink and nod about how stupid he must be, because "he doesn't think the way we do, and we are sooooooooo smart."
  14. Minnesota over NYY.. The Curse of Texiera joins The Curse of ARod for a 1st round exit.
  15. If their academics are so bad and their recruits so shady, why are we the ones suffering from loss of schollies due to the APR!
  16. Why, oh why, is Troy blessed with the best team in this conference when they can't even half way fill their stadium for a nationlly televised game? The football gods have their priorities all mixed up!!! Just think what our attendance would be if we had that kind of success!!
  17. I hope your not right, but I think you are. Very discouraging. Dasher has to be the worst passing QB in the Belt.
  18. Are you saying it has been added to the standard package? If so, I got some extra package cancelling to do.
  19. Something tells me the line will always be overloaded to the right side.
  20. They already fear playing here. Surely you have seen the stadium, especially the visitors locker room!?!?!
  21. That's a no-no for us, not for them, for they play in a money making BCS conference.
  22. In your initial post, there was no argument, just a typical smart #$% remark. That's my point. If you want to debate something, then debate it respectfully and bring a counter point, or counter stats to the argument. This whole semi-comedy / personal attack routine is old. Your no David Letterman, sir
  23. Listened to the Rangers end of the year press conference, during which JD made the statement that the Rangers had the largest percentage attendance increase in MLB. What a shot in the arm to this town's sportsiness quotion. I guess we may not be so bad after all.
  24. I would love to hear your or eealy's reasons or logic behind the views that you guys have. I don't think I have ever seen them posted. Not that this surprises me.
  25. I'm just going to miss the Budweiser RV. Seems they don't come out on Texas/OU weekend.
