If the team gets crushed this season, then that says more about Dan then anything else.

UTSA Expecting 50K For 1'st Ever Home Game

Yeah, it was the inaugural game. No way they keep drawing that number, but I did hear it was the all-time attendance record for a first year program FBS or FCS. -

UTSA drew 57K to its first game. -
Longhorn Network picks up remaining UTSA home games

DeLoss Dodds (Texas' Athletic Director) is good friends with Lynn Hickey (UTSA's Athletic Director). Looks like UTSA tood advantage of the situation and politiced its way into a decent little payday. -
That schedule looks extra laughable after watching the first quarter of this game. Alabama is going to 100 point favorites.

FIU looks really good. I don't think they're a fluke this season.

NCAA Raises The Bar On Student Athletes Grades
nana21 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I think you need to reread. "The following teams would have missed the 2011 men's basketball NCAA tournament under the new rules with these APR scores, released in May 2010." Those are last year's numbers and only include basketball. The whole system needs to fixed though. Too many coaches are not focused on academics at all when it comes to their team. -
He's clearly trying to develop more toughness which is important in football.

Big 12-2/Minus 2 Conference done...how do we benefit
nana21 replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Texas is getting two paychecks. One of the network (which only broadcasts one basketball, volleyball, women's soccer and such) and one from football broadcast rights which is probably worth more. -
I love sports as much as anybody, but it's better for the money to go to academics anyway.

Coog fans are definitely respectable. Very reasonable people. I guess they've been humbled since they used to have a really great athletic program and now it's pretty much the definition of mid-major. Still, I live them and would love to have more game against them.

Fau And Fiu Campuses Visited On Memorial Day

Seemingly everyone complains about the terrible economy, but they certainly find ways to build new football stadiums across the country. -
I always felt like it was linebackers.

Very impressive. How did they pull that off?

Are we sure this wasn't FSN's idea? "Based on HBO's popular NFL program “Hard Knocks,” the FSNSW show would follow the Roadrunners in monthly, half-hour installments leading up to their first game this fall, station spokesman Ramon Alvarez said. UTSA will open its inaugural season against Northeastern (Okla.) State on Sept. 3. Alvarez said the yet-to-be-titled show will “probably” begin in early May. He said a producer has been filming during UTSA's recent spring drills, which conclude Saturday at the Alamodome with the spring game. In addition to Coker and the players, the show will also involve athletic director Lynn Hickey and school administrators in an effort to chronicle the total endeavor of starting a major college program from scratch. “We're still trying to work out some of the final details with the university,” Alvarez said. “But we're excited about it. It's a compelling series looking at the start of a new football program with a pretty high-profile coach.” Read more: http://www.mysanantonio.com/default/article/UTSA-football-to-get-reality-TV-show-in-fall-1328107.php#ixzz1MHMQ3Vbh

Today in Austin I saw 2 or 3 shuttle busses near the UT campus with huge North Texas Mean Green logo and letterings. Was there an athletic event against UT or something today that I didn't know about. Anyone have a clue? Kinda seemed out of the blue.

It's just nuts to suggest that staying in the Sunbelt is better than moving to the MWC.

Dennis Franchione? Come now.

with a 151 rpi... lol. I don't know what to think of that.

According to UTSA's Message board, UTSA will open 2013 at home in the Alamodome against Kansas St. on ESPN and will also play Oklahoma St. and Houston. They don't seem to have a hard time finding teams to play that in San Antonio. http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145988&page=2
