DRC: Rice legacy Asher Aberding commits to UNT

Best quote in the article! “Ever since they offered me, they have been on me more than any other school and made me feel special.” -
My understanding of most of the Payouts is as follows. Home team agrees to pay $xxx, xxx to the visiting team and provide X,XXX tickets to the visiting team. In addition there are clauses for travel and lodging for games in most cases. If we sell our ticket allotment we make money. If we do not we give them back to the home team who makes money...

Visitor Sections are 111 and 509. Facing west so bring a hat or sunglasses if you want to see the game.

Houston Mean Green- Coaches Caravan June 12th

I did a visual count and came up with about 87 in attendance minus the coaches and UNT employees. I thought is was a good event. I was able to personally talk to 4 coaches (Littrell, McCasland, Hedlund, and Palileo) as well as Wren Baker. All were down to earth and willing to take time with each group that they visited. Summary of my personal conversations: AD Baker - Talked about being home. Loving the town he lives in and being close to family. Coach Littrell went further to say that not only does he love his job he loves being close to his family. We talked about his hometown and how much he loved being close enough that his kid can have a relationship with their grandparents instead of only seeing them 2-3 times a year. He said "I hope y'all keep me!" I replied "I think we are more concerned about you getting lured away." He squared up to me looked me in the eye and said "anyone who thinks I would leave does not know me very well!" Coach McCasland - talked about the support from the President down to ensure he had what he needed to be successful. He really enjoyed the atmosphere of the Super Pit at the end of the season and through the CBI. Really a nice person who is excited about his team next year. Coach Hedlund - Can not wait for the soccer and track complex to start. Talked about having a home since he has played on 7 different fields in his 25 years at North Texas. He is happy with winning the C-USA but is ready to make a run in the NCAA and is setting that expectation with his players. Coach Palileo - is happy Volleyball won the C-USA so Coach Hedlund will stop busting his chops about not having a championship. Is looking forward to next season and is ready to repeat. I asked each one the same group of questions: "Do you have everything you need to be successful?" - everyone of them said YES emphatically. They said that from the board, president, and AD that they have amazing support and love the direction the university as a whole is going. "Are you still enjoying what you do?" - All said yes! "What do you need from us?" - All said butts in seats in one way shape or form, that it makes a big impact on the team and more importantly recruiting. Overall I was very impressed with the AD Baker and all of the coaches (I was not able to get to talk to the track coach who was there as well). My wife and daughter went as well and my 17 year old daughter (who wants to be an athletic trainer) was even invited up to visit by Coach Littrell and Coach McCasland and said that they would talk to the head of Sports Medicine to ensure that she was able to watch a practice during her visit. All of the coaches talked directly to her and made her feel like she was being recruited by them. At the end of the event she looked at me and said, with the way things are going at UNT why would I go anywhere else? I asked her what she meant and she quoted the fact that this past year was the best athletic year since 1975 as a whole for the university (something AD Baker said earlier in the event). New fields, IPF, and a commitment to the student athletes. She said that it felt like she would be getting in on the start of something great and that she could be proud of going forward. I liked it and thought is was a successful event and even if no one else liked the event, I think they made a decision for at least one future student last night!- 27 replies

The cost of stained concrete can vary greatly. For a basic application of a single stain color with sealer and minimal surface prep, most contractors charge between $2 and $4 per square foot. So it would have been very expensive.

Looks like I am making it a work trip. Booked Thursday night at that new sparkly Embassy Suites just up the road. Two days in North Texas on my birthday weekend... This could get ugly, better warn the bars to stock up. -

If you want to read more here is an article about UNT's own Todd Dodge https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/highschool/article/Texas-high-school-football-turns-to-the-spread-6700541.php In 1980, playing for Port Arthur Jefferson, Dodge achieved the improbable feat of throwing for more than 3,000 yards in a season, averaging an unheard-of 200 yards per game. Coming from the state that brought you the ground-bound wishbone and veer offenses, it had to be just a passing fad - pun intended - didn't it? These days, 3,000 yards is chicken feed. Almost 50 players statewide surpassed that mark in 2014, and hundreds have done so since Dodge's day. His own son Riley, in fact, twice surpassed the old record while playing for his father at Southlake Carroll in 2006-07. What was once an anomaly has become the rule of the road in Texas high school football, as fans will see this weekend at the University Interscholastic League title games at NRG Stadium. Of 20 teams playing over three days, at least 15 run some variation of the spread offense - the generic term for any formation that lines up with the quarterback in shotgun formation, be it with one back, two, or occasionally, none.
-
It is a reference to all air raid offense which is a system is designed out of a shotgun formation with four wide receivers and one running back. The formations are a variation of the run and shoot offense where the guards and tackles of the offensive line and the 4 defensive linemen really do not matter because we are just going to play "7 on 7". It puts an emphasis on getting the ball out instead of imposing your will on the other team. When you look at the big 12 you see "7 on 7" ball. "7 on 7" puts a ton of yards and points on the scoreboard and is well suited for tv (looks like a video game). While it is fun to watch this on "skilled positions" only the receivers and some well rounded back really translate to Sunday. If you look at the big number guys in college, few make it in the NFL. See the list below FBS passing leaders Out of 32 there are 4-5 that are not on a "7 on 7" team and Philip Rivers, Kevin Kolb, Derek Carr, and Jared Goff are really the only ones who have had some success in the NFL. (For my HSO on the QB's you will see Baker Mayfield, Mason Rudolph, Luke Falk, and Lamar Jackson get their collective ass handed to them and all but one will be out of the league after their rookie contract) 1 Case Keenum [[Houston Cougars football|Houston]] (2007–2011) 19,217 2 Timmy Chang Hawaii (2000–2004) 17,072 3 Landry Jones Oklahoma (2009–2012) 16,646 4 Graham Harrell Texas Tech (2005–2008) 15,793 5 Ty Detmer BYU (1988–1991) 15,031 6 Kellen Moore Boise State (2008–2011) 14,667 7 Baker Mayfield Texas Tech (2013), Oklahoma (2015–2017) 14,607 8 Luke Falk Washington State (2014–2017) 14,481 9 Colt Brennan Hawaii (2005–2007) 14,193 10 Rakeem Cato Marshall (2011–2014) 14,079 11 Mason Rudolph Oklahoma State (2014–2017) 13,618 12 Sean Mannion Oregon State (2011–2014) 13,600 13 Philip Rivers NC State (2000–2003) 13,484 14 Corey Robinson Troy (2010–2013) 13,477 15 Colt McCoy Texas (2006–2009) 13,253 16 Aaron Murray Georgia (2010–2013) 13,166 17 Kevin Kolb Houston (2003–2006) 12,964 18 Dan LeFevour Central Michigan (2006–2009) 12,905 19 Cooper Rush Central Michigan (2013–2016) 12,884 20 Brandon Doughty Western Kentucky (2011–2015) 12,855 21 Derek Carr Fresno State (2009–2013) 12,843 22 Tim Rattay Louisiana Tech (1997–1999) 12,746 23 Ryan Lindley San Diego State (2008–2011) 12,690 24 Luke McCown Louisiana Tech (2000–2003) 12,666 25 Chris Redman Louisville (1996–1999) 12,541 26 Chase Daniel Missouri (2005–2008) 12,515 27 Trevor Vittatoe UTEP (2007–2010) 12,439 28 Kliff Kingsbury Texas Tech (1999–2002) 12,429 29 Matt Barkley USC (2009–2012) 12,327 30 Jared Goff California (2013–2015) 12,195 31 Zach Terrell Western Michigan (2013–2016) 12,100 32 Zac Dysert Miami (Ohio) (2009–2012) 12,016

Sorry the source was from 2015... Gas would be $683.80 at $2.60 a gallon. So with fuel cost today it would lower the hourly cost by $3.21. So $86.46/hr or $71.46/hr respectively. Thanks for keeping me honest. I corrected the math above

According to the federal Energy Information Administration, the "levelized cost" of new wind power (including capital and operating costs) is 8.2 cents per kWh. Advanced clean-coal plants cost about 11 cents per kWh, the same as nuclear. But advanced natural gas-burning plants come in at just 6.3 cents per kWh. I think I am buying from NRG at 7.8 cents per kWh right now. Again for the minutia hounds: The levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) is given by: {\displaystyle \mathrm {LCOE} ={\frac {\text{sum of costs over lifetime}}{\text{sum of electrical energy produced over lifetime}}}={\frac {\sum _{t=1}^{n}{\frac {I_{t}+M_{t}+F_{t}}{\left({1+r}\right)^{t}}}}{\sum _{t=1}^{n}{\frac {E_{t}}{\left({1+r}\right)^{t}}}}}} It : investment expenditures in the year t Mt : operations and maintenance expenditures in the year t Ft : fuel expenditures in the year t Et : electrical energy generated in the year t r : discount rate n : expected lifetime of system or power station

Did anyone look at the other photos on that site. Looks like Jerseys, helmets, t-shirts, sweats, and cleats are in stock...

These things are not cheap. If you do not drive it yourself you should budget about $86.46/hr. If you are the driver you should budget about $71.46/hr for operation. Here is the math for those who love to argue the minutia: Sample data in calculation 13 trips performed 78 total hours of service 1,450 miles of travel Associated hard costs Cost to “make ready” 13 washes/prep— $10/hour x 13 hours = $130 Driver wages (including pre/post trip) — $15/hour x 104 hours = $1,560 Fuel — 263 Gallons @ $2.60 = $683.80 Insurance (monthly premium) = $342 Associated soft costs Oil change ($150 per 6,000 miles) — .025 per mile x 1,450 = $36.25 Tire replacement — ($450 per 100,000 miles).0045 per mile x 1,450 = $39.18** Major tune-up — ($600 per 75,000 miles) .008 per mile x 1450 = $11.60 TOTAL BREAK-EVEN POINT = $7,060.43 Excludes employer payroll tax or workers’ comp premium **Based on six tires Hourly break-even point: $6,744.18 / by 78 hours of service = rate of $86.46 per hour OR $6,744.18 / 1,450 miles = $4.65 per mile Fuel Bus fuel capacity: 250 gallons Average MPG: 4 to 9 mpg Average fill-up cost: $950 Commercial truck stop required for large buses Maintenance Tire replacement: $400 — $600 each Lube, oil and filter service: $150 — $250 Turbo replacement (diesel): $1,500 — $2,000 Insurance Minimum: $5 million liability required Monthly cost: $280 — $500 Labor National average hourly pay School bus drivers: $10.19 — $18.32 Transit bus drivers: $9.57 — $23.09 Greyhound Bus Lines: $15 — $20.67 Source: Payscale.com

I have family members who went to Baylor. With the latest being a niece who graduated in 2015 and took my kids to games in Waco. My Daughter, who is a High School Junior and wants to be an Athletic Trainer in college on her way to becoming a sports medicine doctor. Has wanted to go to Baylor since 2011 with UNT as her second choice. Last week as she was working on gathering admissions info so she could apply and I asked her about the Baylor Sports Medicine program, she looked at me, shrugged and said "dad, I am not sure that I want to be associated with Baylor at this point". Now her top choices are UNT, UT, and A&M. My son who is a Senior this year, and had Baylor in his top five 2 years ago has said that he would never go to Baylor. Both have stated that most of their friends do not even have Baylor on their list of schools to apply. For people who say athletics is not a window in to the university the academics are, in my house Baylor has gone from top choice to not even apply in the last 4 years due to the behavior of the athletics department.

As with any failure in manufacturing or construction the builder attempts to mitigate liability. This is done in thousands of different ways but the easiest is to "confidentially" tell a press guy about this new technology and intimating that it could have something to do with it. The press guy runs with it and you have 100 paid experts ready to tell you how it could have caused a failure. Let the investigation play out. This was a 950 ton structure that had just been put in place. It was not fully tied in nor were the support cables set as the were being tightened when the collapse occurred. I will bet is was not caused by faulty concrete. Self-cleaning concrete was invented in 1997 has been used without fail since 2003. The nanotechnology of adding titanium dioxide (TiO2) actually strengthens concrete. Making it photocatalytic requires manipulating the material to create extremely fine nanotechnology-sized particles with a different atomic structure. Self-cleaning concrete is an effective alternative to provide cleaner environment which contribute to sustainability and towards a green environment.

Fall 2017 enrollment was 38,121. So if only 100 people voted it would be 0.26% Every thousand votes therefore would be 2.62% Source: https://www.ntdaily.com/unts-enrollment-hits-new-all-time-high/ https://percentagecalculator.net/ - i just did the math but for those who do not remember Jr High math here is a online tool.
