aTm and Tech To Be On Campus For Fall Football
ipd054 replied to LongJim's topic in Mean Green Football
This e-mail was sent to students and parents yesterday: Thursday, April 30, 2020 Dear UNT students, It has been almost two months since I last saw you on our beautiful campus. I miss you and the hustle and bustle of campus life. During this time, we have all been adapting to virtual services, remote and online classes, and shelter in place. I hope you are doing well, that you are staying safe and healthy, and are making progress. Like me, I suspect you are looking forward to being together again to live, learn, and enjoy our rich campus experience. Our leadership teams have been working hard to help us begin the transition from remote learning back to more normal campus operations. Today, I want to inform you that we plan to begin limited in-person teaching as early as Summer II and are planning on safely resuming campus learning and residential life for Fall 2020. As we plan for our return to campus, the new normal will be different. Your safety is our top priority, and we will take every precaution to keep our community safe in this new world. We are assessing options and precautions for eventually returning to campus for all in-person activities and programs, ranging from lab-based research to general instruction and the undergraduate residential experience. Of course, these plans depend on continuing improvement in COVID-19 cases, and guidance from federal, state, and local health authorities to ensure your safety. We will be communicating in the coming weeks about what exactly you can expect when you return to campus. This global health crisis also has had a financial impact on all of us. I want you to know if you need help of any kind you can get access to our many services at the Start Green Stay Green website (https://www.unt.edu/staygreen). We are here for you through these challenging times. Many of you have been hit hard by the current economy, and we are doing our best to balance easing financial burdens with providing the top quality UNT education and experience you deserve. If you are experiencing financial insecurity, please apply for assistance from our emergency grants-in-aid program available through the CARES Act. These funds are available now and are meant to help you pay your bills so you can stay in school and earn your degree as planned. Applications for the emergency grants-in-aid program can be completed at htt ps://tinyurl.com/UNTStudentSuccessFA. Despite the many weeks apart, we have become an even stronger, more connected UNT community through this shared adversity. I hope someday we look back at this time and see not just the challenges, but also the love and care we gave one another. We will emerge from this global health crisis stronger and more united as the Mean Green Family than ever before. UNT proud, Neal Smatresk UNT President -
Who do you Predict the next UNT QB will be?
ipd054 replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
Martin. He was a jokester the last few years as he knew he had no hope playing. His leadership has started showing. Again I do not know if he starts the season but he will get his shot an he will not let it go. -
Wishful thinking at this point. There has been some progress over the last year with allowing player to get paid for their likeness, not final just progress. It is closer to possible now but there are a bunch of hurdles to get over before any game returns

It is obvious that during your JMPI your Jumpmaster repeatedly failed to check your modified chin strap assembly. This in conjunction with a piss poor PLF resulted in your brain pan slamming against the drop zone. Depending on which Company you were in jump school this was referred to as ate up, soup sandwich, or ooh ahh medivac and quite possibly all three. You should probably beat your boots. I am sure as any good paratrooper you embraced the suck and drove on in a LGOP to create chaos, or since you were at Bragg you got your ass off or Sicily and Normandy. Please ensure while you continue your drinking as a combat sport (yes to a paratrooper drinking is a sport) you ensure your slide fastener is in the up and secured position, your PT belt is safely secured low around your waist, sit back and enjoy your flight. The DZSO says winds are 3-5 knots. We will get your knees in the breeze shortly. I have found in my old age, that I no longer call them dreams, it is more along the line of "my check liver light is on, did that really happen?" Jumpers remove your head from your fourth point of contact and Hit It!

Analyst is a term given to a fired coach who still is being paid by their last gig. It allows you to get a big name guy to help out around the house while not having to pay them much. They fulfill their side of the old contract because they found work so they keep the pay from their last gig as part of their contract. Generally they will, help evaluate talent or work with a few players for a friend as they look for their next gig. It also allows for someone to "step down" and still be around the program.

YOU NEVER PULL A "HOUSTON"! Unless you are looking for a girl to date. Because the best part of dating a girl who is from Houston and is a fan of their sports.... She is not interested in a ring (Oilers and Texans) and if she is she is ok if you cheat (Astros). But back to the question. “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

From the Baylor site: Tate Wallis is in his seventh season at Baylor, and his second as an assistant coach working with the receiving corps. He was promoted to his position guiding Baylor's prolific "Wide Receiver U" in January 2015. Wallis was named the 2015 national Wide Receivers Coach of the Year by FootballScoop for his efforts leading a BU corps highlighted by unanimous All-American and Biletnikoff Award winner Corey Coleman (74 receptions, 1,363 yards, 20 TDs). The Bears top-ranked offense also included All-Big 12 receiver KD Cannon and NFL signee Jay Lee (Lions). Prior to moving to his current position, Wallis spent three seasons as an assistant director of football operations involved in offensive quality control and two years as a graduate assistant coaching the tight ends and offensive special teams. The 2008 Tarleton State graduate joined the Baylor staff following a two-year stint coaching inside receivers at Red Oak (Texas) High School. The former quarterback played collegiately at SMU under then-head coach and current BU defensive coordinator Phil Bennett. He was a two-year letterman at SMU (2002-03), and started seven games and threw for 834 yards as a redshirt freshman in 2002. He also spent time at tight end as a redshirt in 2001. Wallis led Ennis (Texas) High School to the 2000 4A state championship as a senior quarterback, when he threw for more than 3,600 yards and 37 touchdowns and ran for 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named to the 2000 4A All-State second team both by The Associated Press and THSCA. Also a 4A All-State and District 10-4A MVP in baseball at Ennis, Wallis was selected in the 2001 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. Wallis and his wife Jessica are the parents of two sons, Mason and Sutton.

Kason Martin - https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/kason-martin/4070 Kid is just a winner. He is a goof off in practice which is why he has been #3-6 on the chart. I am betting that now that the position is open he will button down and show what he is really made of. There was this other winner who was 3 deep on the charts that surprised the hell out of us a few years ago. His lack of focus at practice may keep him from opening the season as number 1 but in my opinion Kuehne or Martin will end the season starting and will start for the next several years. You can not teach someone to be a winner, but you can teach a winner to be a leader. From what I have seen Bean and Aune have everything on paper (size, speed) but I have yet to see them do anything that makes me excited to see them next year.

New Defensive Coordinator Clint Bowen
ipd054 replied to UNT Texas Hooligan's topic in Mean Green Football
So let me get this right. One of our biggest weaknesses on defense has been the secondary. Seth goes out and hires a guy with 15 years experience coaching either secondary or linebackers in the Big 12. Who was retained by Les Miles in the same position. So the hire sucks? I do have green colored glasses, but I am looking at a guy that has had to prepare and game plan for some of the best offenses in the BCS. In a conference that averages 433.3 yards per game (259.6 yds/game in passing). Hell the worst team in the Big 12 averaged 321 yds/game and 248.7 in passing. In 2018 the Jayhawks let the Big 12 in turnovers and had the second best turnover ratio in BCS (16 interceptions). Overall the pass defense that Coach Bowen was most responsible for was top 5 behind Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU and KState this year. His Safeties accounted for 143 tackles as they took up the slack for a line that I could have rushed for 100 yards against. He is known as a recruiter. He also knows and has worked with Seth. For those who say he sucked in 2011 so he still sucks. Really, if I took your first year at a new position and judged you on your results from 8 years ago...when you worked with a 1st year coach. Come on... he was hired to work with a ground and pound coach who consistently put the defense in horrible position. Oh and that team which was in my opinion led by the defense had the best record UNT has seen in 6 years and it regressed the next year after he left. I have no idea how the hire will turn out but, on the surface this hire checks a lot of the boxes that we need. It fails to check a few but I can not expect a perfect candidate (they do not exist). All in all personally think that this was not an exciting hire but I do think it is a good hire.- 190 replies

As a multiple decade basher of the band, probably the most negative I have been on the board, I think this was the best version I have ever seen at North Texas. I enrolled in '93 and graduated in '96. They were uniform and involved in the games. I have absolutely nothing to complain about this year that is not just my personal preference and that doesn't matter. Thank you Daniel Cook.

There are many cases where surgery is not needed for a partial tear. It all has to do with knee stability. I am 100% sure he has been working with an orthopedic doctor who is giving him advice based on his injury. I had a partial tear of my ACL with no stability issues. Recovered in 4 months then had another 3 months of heavy PT. Played 2 more years on the offensive line without braces, jumped out of airplanes for 4 years, and then played 3 years of Rugby at UNT with no issues. At 49 it does sound like popcorn when I walk...

The new OC will make the decision. He will assess the coaches and pick his team. This is a hard time for position coaches and I would bet all are looking. Or should I say that I would be looking to hedge my bets. -
"Renfo cited his relationship with UNT offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder and how he would fit in UNT’s offense under coach Seth Littrell for his decision to commit to the Mean Green." from the DRC, Brett Vito Seems like Renfo knew last week...

Correct he has a offensive pedigree. Coaching career (HC unless noted) 1996 Nicholls State (SA) 1997–1999 Edna Karr HS (LA) (assistant) 2000–2003 O. P. Walker HS (LA) 2005–2007 Ole Miss (RB/ST) 2008 Southern Miss (RB/RC) 2009 Tennessee (WR) 2010–2015 LSU (AHC/RB/RC) 2016–2019 UTSA

The travel did not seem to bother Decatur who won 69-0 after being up 62-0 with over 4 min left in the half. Next up Dumas.... Azle v Abliene Cooper will be a good game.

You are right 28 miles, 40 min, and West not East. I forgot that they played in Oklahoma last year.

Tarleton 10K , Glen Rose 7K, Apogee 30,850 I personally am very happy about the game being played at Apogee. 4-A has some good players a coaches, exposure to the facility is always good. The worst travel I say in the brackets is Decatur (40 miles east of Denton) playing Mountain View (El Paso) in Odesa. Almost 5 hours for Decatur and 4+ for Mountain View for the Area Round...

I guess Tarleton was taken... it is almost 1/2 way between both schools (within 15)

Notre Dame sellout streak expected to end at 273 games
ipd054 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Die hard or not it is hard to convince the family to get out to a game where we will have to get to the game in below freezing temperatures and it will only get a few degrees above freezing during the game. My buddies and I will make it but the kids are 50/50 staying at home and the wife will tell me not to wake her on my way out... If the streak is broken it is because of the scheduling. Notre Dame hardly ever has games in November and never this late in the month. Poor planning results in poor attendance. -
3. Minute Rice (0-9) If you've ever prepared Minute Rice, then you know that you have to keep an eye on it. It has to be pulled from the stove at just the right moment or in an instant it will go from perfectly cooked to a hot, wet mess. After a season-long simmer, it's time to keep our eyes on the Owls, who will finish the season with three contests against opponents with losing records, including the annual Bottom 10 Bowl season finale against ... Boxes of Minute Rice cost $1.99 at Kroger. Can everyone going to the game bring a box to hold up? Make sure to buy the white rice to represent Rice University...
