  1. Don't really see what was too negative there. Just my honest assessment and feelings on the game. I think Navy is pretty darn good on offense. Our defense has not been good... They're going to score points. Sure, I hope we outscore them, but it's a tall, tall order. I guess I should just lie and talk about how I think we'll smoke 'em??? As for other areas I'm not negative in, I strongly disagree (with about every fiber of my football being) that we've been mired in some hopeless "bottom 25 existence" and were just horrible for so long that we're all so downtrodden and destitute here. I think the turn of the century teams were good. DAMN good. I think they were, without question one of the two best teams - if not THE best team - we've ever had here. I'm proud as hell to have been on campus at that time, and I hope we get back there again. I can still be cogniscent that this season we're really lousy but still have hope for the future. I just won't accept that beating a .500 Tennessee team around the same time we were getting knocked around by the likes of Drake, Lamar, Long Beach, and West Texas A&M (and losing to Okie St. 61-7 the same year) was the pinnacle of the college football world around here. Our Texas Tech wins were better. We've been good. Recently. Hopefully we get back there again - it's nothing to be ashamed of.
  2. Don't get caught up in the "Notre Dame" name, now... that team is horrific. The Irish just had by far... by FAR... their best offensive game of the year against Navy. That was, by ND '07 standards, an offensive explosion. Navy's defense has been pretty lousy this year. Don't forget they lost to Delaware the week before, and did so by giving up a lot of points. That being said, Navy will score. Early and often. Hopefully our D can find a way to slow them down and the Middies put the ball on the ground, but considering our offense doesn't really score much, I don't like our chances.
  3. And as bad as it is, add USU to the list of teams that have actually outscored us offensively this year and also to the list of teams with new playbooks that have shown more improvement from last year than we have... be careful who you're ripping, especially this season.
  4. excellent... I was waiting to see how long this would last before it became Evil Dickey's fault...
  5. I know last week we actually were able to get Jerseyville (Akin Ayodele's place at Willow Bend mall) to turn the ULM game on in the second half (when we were able to get there).... does anyone have any idea if any local places are showinmg the Troy game Sat. afternoon yet??
  6. Kinda what i was wondering...
  7. You know you had "Knockin' da Boots".... just admit it.
  8. I've never noticed this... what have you noticed him doing?
  9. TTG is right. You may disagree with TFLF, but at least his posts are well thought out, well written, and don't take cheap shots or hurl recess-quality insults. Disagree your rocks off, people. This is a discussion board, it's what it's here for.... but let's not roll in the mud and take cheap shots just because someone shares a different viewpoint than you. We all want the same thing here - success for NT.
  10. But I think it's more what he said... he said he didn't regret going for two so early in the game because it was 14-12 and "we'd have to go for two at some point in the game, so why not do it now?".... which is completely false on any level. I think going for 4th and short near midfield and in opponent's territory is a whole lot different than passing up a PAT to go for two.. with more than half of the game to go. Don't get me wrong, I still support Dodge and all, I just wonder if this was poorly worded or a feeble defense of his decision.
  11. I did the exact same thing... came in as he was answering the previous question, and missed any defense talk... just very flawed 2-pt. conversion logic, QB talk, and "winning at home" talk.
  12. Genius. After every loss, the players could freely kick him in the nads with no repercussions or damage done.
  13. Did he really just say that about the early two-point conversion??? That he didn't regret the decision because "at some point we were going to have to go for two"...?!? Tell me I misunderstood that....
  14. Good point. After all, we can't expect to be able to do what McNeese State did, can we?
  15. I wish DD the best. He is a former coach here, and as far as I'm concerned has no bearing on our current program. he's in a terrible situation, but he's doing a decent job with what he's got. USU is scoring just under 12 ppg more than they did last year. Don't see the point of kicking a man who poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this thing here. It's the past. Wish him well and move on. Todd Dodge is our coach now. note: I'm not talking to you personally, OT, just the general DD-bashing and DD-crutch excuses that seem to be prevalent here, even still.
  16. Man, Harbaugh is a blast to watch coach. He is so freaking into it and emotional, it's really entertaining. Wasn't Stanford winless or close to it last year/year before? He said before the game that he knew they could win, told his wife he knew they WOULD win, and then they went out and did it. First team to beat SC at home in 6 years. What a turnaround.
  17. ULL plays to our strengths... they can NOT throw.. so the D is at least hanging in... this is an 0-5 team with a 1-AA loss... on pace to put up 28 on us. A lot of that goes on the offense - hopefully Vizza got all the bad out and turns it around 2nd half. We need a stop to kick off the half for sure.
  18. two possessions in, i'm convinced Vizza is a spy for Lafayette. Hope this turns around...
  19. Yep. A blatant bad call just effectively ended this game. Big East refs, btw. I'm just sayin'....
  20. 14-14... this is niiiiiiiiiiiiice.
  21. Generally and historically. you're right.... but it's not always the case. West Virginia is a good example - as much of a running-based team as there has been the last few years, and as much of a true spread as there is.
  22. That was all they had. They pretty much talked on their cell phones and ignored the game until a cameraman or still photog came up to them (which happened every few minutes), and they left in the mid-2nd quarter. I was sitting right behind them.
  23. No clue on the score except that it'll be high... I wouldn't pick us to win just yet in almost any situation based on what we've shown, but based on the first half vs. FAU and the fact that ULL is winless also -- including a 1-AA loss -- I'll give us a 10 point win. The offense does enough to prevent the defense from screwing it up.
  24. Great points all - especially with the Ohio State team.. what was that, Craig Krenzel and company?? Yeah, that was defense all the way.
  25. No no, I totally agree with you. I was responding to D2007's statement about how well OU stops the spread when they play Tech or Texas (who doesn't really run the spread in my eyes anyway)... You're right, Boise moved on them big time. I'm just saying that saying OU stops something isn't really fair, because generally they stop everything.
