  1. We're underrating TTG's investigative reporting and overrating NT Football in the 70's. Again.
  2. Yes, gone are the days of Marcus Stiggers, Davaren Hightower, 300+ yds. rushing a game, and not losing at home my entire time in HS. Apparently, in are the days of 2-win seasons. Eh. Their new unis looked kinda cool, at least. LH '97 here, btw.
  3. And many said the same thing about SBC & NO Bowl champ FAU just a couple of years ago...
  4. Is that like Operating Thetan Level III?? Fear Xenu.
  5. Alas, the Seminoles are almost strictly business these days. A few high-ranking officials in fancy clothes can write their own ticket in Tallahassee. The only numbers required are $$$$.
  6. And if I recall, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, the North Dakota Fighting Sioux had a similar support from the Sioux Tribe. Not as sure about that one, however. Its the non-tribe specific names like "Indians" and "Braves" et. al. that are in trouble. Likewise with SDSU, there's no Aztec tribe to come to their defense. It helps, of course, if the tribe is as powerful and wealthy as the Seminoles. Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins still exist....
  7. Because the Seminole Tribe of Florida, who wields more power than just about every other entity in that state, went to the NCAA on FSU's behalf and pledged their support of the Seminole nickname.
  8. Well, yeah... he's still a very important and special recruit.
  9. How did I slide analingus by you? I'm sad.
  10. This would instantly become quite possibly our best and most important recruit in a long, long time.
  11. Oh, and in regards to FIU, I know they're in a dismal way, but remember that they played well off campus this year at the Orange Bowl while their NEW STADIUM was being built. Those numbers are skewed. Not saying that FIU is going to average 20k, but there's no reason they shouldn't be right in the mix in our conference. Two points from having lived in South Florida recently: a) The Orange Bowl is a decrepit cesspool, even with all the history. It's located in Overtown, probably without a doubt one of the two seediest crime-ridden areas of Miami (along with Liberty City). There's essentially no parking - you can pay 50 bucks to park on someone's lawn, or you can take the Metro Rail from quite far away, the Miami mass transit system that makes DartRail seem like a luxury crossing on the Orient Express. It's a huge pain in the ass, and a good distance from FIU... The FIU campus is in far west Miami, just south of Doral, one of the nicer, newer, more affluent areas. b- FIU just made a big enough financial commitment to build a new on-campus stadium. They're not going anywhere. We'll see where the road takes them, but Miami is more of a front-runners town than even Dallas (by FAR).. with a new stadium and an improved team, they'll be there.
  12. And your last point echoes my thoughts, at least on one level..... we hear so much about Troy's big wins over (ultimately unranked and 5+ loss) Mizzou and Okie State over the years, and then this year we had the ULM win over Bama (@Bama, which is inarguably more impressive than Troy's wins), and how that's what NT needs... how that never happened for us (at least since winning at Tech) even in the good years, blah blah. This is where I couldn't disagree more. Sure, I'd love to knock off a big dog. Admittedly, it would be a lot nicer if we knocked off LSU or Texas instead of Mizzou or OkSt, but even still... if you do that and combine it with 4 or 5 losses or even with NOT WINNING THE BELT, and what have you gotten?? Not much. What did that Mizzou win 6 years or so ago really get Troy? Does anyone still recall that ULM beat Bama outside of Tuscaloosa? Sure, beating a "name" opponent once in a while gives us a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, but what does it really do for the program? Point is, we can bitch and moan and whine about the Belt's ability and attendance all we want (even though it seems like some go on about how much better the Belt is now while some tear it apart), but we had better start winning games. I don't care if it's against Incarnate Word or FIU - we need wins. The only thing we need the big opponents for is a paycheck, and I get that it's a necessary evil -- but we're only going to gain traction in the college football world by consistently racking up wins, year after year. If we had maintained our momentum after our run, and we could say now that we'd won the Belt say 6 or 7 out of 8 years, and were losing 1 or 2 (money) games a year -- can you concieve what a span like that would do for the program?? No one would care what the hell that schedule was... that's the kind of run that puts you on the map, that makes you go places. Not an early-season win once every four years against an Independence Bowl representative.
  13. I'm pretty sure we're locked in with LSU at this point. And yeah, economics notwithstanding, I'd rather play Mary Hardin Baylor or PVAMU than either of them in the noncon. We need Ws right now. Nothing more, nothing less. Oh yeah, that money thing... damn.
  14. Maybe it's just me, but I'm kind of tired of the SMU thing. Frankly, I'm a lot more concerned with what's going on with Troy and FAU. Yeah, yeah, I know... we'll recruit against them, blah blah. Fine. Win, and that takes care of itself. There's enough talent to go around, and it's the staff's job to find it. That job gets a hell of a lot easier with 9 wins than it is with 9 losses, even if SMU is offering a bags of cash and analingus to recruits.
  15. no, I don't remember when MTSU was a sure loss.
  16. Let's focus on the percentage of dodgefan's posts that defend or talk up SMU, versus the ones that don't mention the Ponies at all or are negative towards them.... do the bushes outside Perkins have WiFi?
  17. Wasn't that the great Ron Powlus? I think Beano Cook predicted the 3 (maybe 4?) Heismans before passing out in his applesauce.
  18. Not me. I don't care what the name is -- if we're financially viable, I want us to schedule wins. Give me a FCS or a beatable FBS... So what if attendance is a little less (which won't be a huge impact if it's the first game of the year anyway)... we need WINS. WINS, WINS, WINS. Schedule for success... that's how I'd love to build something here.
  19. Yeah, but did Vizza's ol' daddy put some Texas soil underneath his crib?
  20. Underrated. Very Gay, but severely underrated. Well played.
  21. In addition to the NCAA violations, sordid reputation, and constant whoring, i think the biggest negative is this: "Baltimore Ravens Offensive Coordinator" anyone seen that dreck lately?
  22. I am very curious about the timing of things and how it all plays out... the Briles to TTech thing has always seemed to be a logical step, and this year, with the Leach to Arkansas/UCLA rumors swirling (after last year's Leach/Miami dallyance) you have to think the angry pirate won't be around much longer. Now, with Briles, the logical successor, tied up for what you assume would be at least a few years, I wonder what Tech does assuming Leach goes and how the dominoes fall even further.... ...speaking of, did anyone hear about Donald Trump's angry letter to Donna Shalala re: Mike Leach? Is that the craziest sentence ever?
  23. Never been... sounds cool, may have to check it out. I've only seen NT games on at Jerseyville in Williow Bend and at 3rd Base in Frisco...
  24. it made someone look stupid, all right...
