  1. Well, at least that gets me out of this wedding. whew. I love Frosties. The original kind, not all the fancy new ones. And Honduras. Went to Gumbalimba Park in Roatan once, what a great day that was. Only thing that might have made it better was a Frosty. The original kind, not a fancy new one. Oh well. Keep your ears listening to hot political talk!
  2. if it's over, this is a massive turnaround season, 4-5 wins. That being said, i'd bet the ranch on under, no matter how much i hope I'm wrong.
  3. The most HILARIOUS part is that the police report says the silly queer couldn't sign his ticket, as it says "at hospital" when the ticket was issued at 2:10am after he deservedly got his fairy-ass beat!... but what makes it hysterical is that there wasn't even a call for an ambulance until 2:22am!!! HAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Probably some secret gay trick!!!!
  4. just saying that those were temporary boons, not so much a long term culture of increased interest or attendance... now, I agree that tailgating IS one of those things that will improve attendance/atmosphere in the long run, but in so far as explaining that one statistical spike you noted, I was simply making the point that the advent of a MUCH expanded game day atmosphere (tailgating, etc.) had as much to do with that as a new coach. Besides, you can't count on a "new coach" bump to mean ANYTHING without winning (as we're seeing all too clearly now), so that one's pretty much out the window. I don't recall when exactly full on tailgating was implemented (anyone?) but I know that I attended games at Fouts not that long ago when we were pretty damn good and facing moderately attractive opponents we would summarily whip the snot out of, and even with similar attendance figures the atmosphere was nowhere near what it is today. Tailgating COMPLETELY changed not so long ago, and that has been the biggest boost to attendance/game day.. not a new coach.
  5. that's the second anti-civil rights post in as many weeks. Yeah.
  6. That was tailgating. Kind of a one-time silver bullet. If we had had tailgating when we were winning a few years back, attendance would have been well beyond today's totals. Winning it is.
  7. Okay. So, if I'm intellectually bankrupt and have reached a new low, then please simply answer me, answer all of us, these questions: 1) Do you stand by "ok, you capture a guy with a towel around his head, dressed in a madrass dress, smells like he just copulated with a camel and hasn't shaved in a while....." as what you described as a "pretty accurate description" of a suspected terrorist, despite Flyer's response to you above and common sense? Also, do you not feel this is a racist statement? 2) Do you feel that posting links to white supremacist/hate site message boards on GMG.com is an acceptable practice? Do you feel that those groups are racist groups? Do you feel that any race is in any way biologically superior to another?
  8. You're late to the party. He pulled that off by linking directly to white supremacist message boards among other fun racist facts. Now, this. Yet, it seems to be fully sanctioned, while others get banished for months for making obviously outlandish jokes. Go figure.
  9. When i read nine out of ten posts on this board, I clearly hear Toby Keith yelling that he'll put a boot in your ass. After all, it's the American way.
  10. Gooooood times indeed. A league winning streak most alums will never see their school come near. We should all be so bored... ...I don't get the argument that attendance is so much better now (which is debatable in and of itself) because of a new style of offense. Honestly, how many people do you think attended a NT game this past season because "hey, i like they offense they run!" - take people who would have attended anyway out of the equation. Is that number even in double digits? Seriously. Likewise, how many casual fans who attend now would NOT come if they couldn't tailgate. Bet that's a damn high figure. ANY boost in attendance or decline in apathy is directly related to a better run AD's office - we have TAILGATING now... can you imagine if the championship teams had the same game day presentation we do now?? Parking lots full of students waiting to punch a bowl ticket, expecting to put up 50+ or blow somebody out, etc?? Not to mention the promotion, etc... we complain about RV, etc. from time to time, but anyone who was around before he got here can appreciate the epic difference. I know some found the offense boring (despite back to back national rushing champs, Hall, Quinn, Smith, Galbreath, etc., and a better scoring efficiency than we've come close to since), but what that team (and it's top ten defense) accomplished with facilities that were horrendous by LOW 1-AA standards is nothing short of astounding. Anyone who compares the weight room, academic areas, offices, training rooms, practice facilities, even the EQUIPMENT from the championship days to now would realize it's like a jump from 3A to bonafide D-1. This new group has more funding, resources, admin support, recruiting tools, facilities, etc. than the previous groups imagined in their wildest dreams. Makes the disparity in performance all the more flat-out staggering. Bottom line is, attendance is affected more by winning than anything else. Period. On an equal playing field, 2003 UNT outdraws 2008 UNT 2 to 1. At least. If not, we have some piss poor fans.
  11. Game, Set, and Match. Look what just bringing the red back has done for the Rangers this year.... bring back the script, throw in some helmet stickers and billboards, and look out Bama.
  12. Somewhere, Paul Cavallini is polishing his resume.
  13. Yeah, it's bizarre, Earl's is a gas station on 380 across from the trailer park, but they have this giant "VOTED BEST BURGER IN DENTON" billboard... My choices: Willie's in Frisco JC's in McKinney JG's in Dallas Jake's in Addison for the giant patio and $2 anything from 3-7p every day Katz's in Denton Wingfield's in Oak Cliff
  14. and yeah, keep yer "ebony-type" magazines in the cotton fields! Yeeee-haw!!!!!
  15. well, maybe they should have been a bit more concerned about story, because it looks like the thing won't even come close to making its production budget back (after getting mowed down by freaking Night at the Museum 2 on its opening weekend, no less).
  16. No, they haven't. They still can't log in, and still have to clear the cookies just to see the public board. The ban (somehow) lives on.
  17. With the Republican party in a rebuild/regroup/rebrand phase, and sending out things like "listening tours", etc., it's a bit fuzzy to anyone what they'll emerge as... so, I'll ask those of you who know far more than I do -- who leads the party in a move back to relevance? Who is the charismatic leader, the rallying point in 2012 to try and reset a conservative movement? I think it's easy to forget that despite the boatload of negativity thrown GWB's way towards the latter half of his presidency, the Democrats were floundering quite a bit themselves until they united behind their annointed leader... so who can challenge that? Regardless of what Pres. Obama does the next three 1/2 years or so, his popular appeal and ability to mobilize many segments of the population present an uphill battle that a cold fish candidate will struggle with - so who is it? Charlie Crist? Bobby Jindal? Sarah... gulp... Palin? Jeb Bush? Tim Pawlenty? Ja'Quay Wilburn? Other?
  18. You ain't kiddin'... that was flat out nasty... then again, so was the last mayoral election, so maybe it's just Frisco..... speaking of, did you see that Denton county passed an alcohol sales ordinance this last week? So, per COUNTY law, far west Frisco (ya know, the fancy part) can now sell booze... but per CITY law, no dice... it's causing a real feces-storm at city hall sorting this bad boy out.... I live on the east (Collin) side, so what do I care. I'll just keep driving to The Colony or Little Elm anyway.
  19. Great points, euless. To follow lockstep with one ideology or definition is beyond me. Odds are, you can't possibly believe one side of the ideological aisle is right on every issue and that the other side is either devoid of intelligence or full of evil. I know I resemble that remark... I probably skew left on more issues overall, but I know I've voted R more than D overall (by a fairly high margin) due to differences in issues I weighted more heavily at the time. It's kind of liberating, not knowing who or what you're voting for until you research the individual records of specific candidates against the unique climate. Oh, and Portia DeRossi = still hottest lesbian.
  20. Totally gagree. Fascinating. In related news, is Porta DeRossi the biggest lesbian score of all time?
  21. Okay, then we agree. I think everyone immediately involved will come out fine (better) from this. The hot topics always bring out the passionate (partisan) rhetoric and whatnot. Such is life.
  22. We're just talking about a beauty pageant here... not the whole gay marriage issue. Not touching that can of worms. But do you not think gay marriage is a controversial, hot button issue in today's society?
