Why is "Freshman" such a horrible label full of built-in excuses? All over the country, Freshmen are impact players... including at QB. If Hall can out-perform Dodge, hell yes play him... of course, you and I both know that won't happen no matter WHAT Hall is.

I've gotta think Lackey goes big market for big money, and kind of weakens the pool of buyers once he's gone. I haven't heard who all is in on Sheets, but I have to think our only chance to even sniff that is if there are massive fears about his health and he's stuck looking at one year deals w/ an option (a la Harden). Even then, I can't see it. Barring other developments, what do you do w/ the 8th this year as of opening day? O'Day? Situational? Someone who misses out on a rotation spot? Speaking of the rotation, where's McCarthy on your radar?

All things being equal, if healthy, Harden > Millwood. Problem is, that's a massive, pulsating "IF". Harden has ace stuff, but Millwood is a horse. Now, Newberg is talking a Max Ramirex/Mike Lowell swap in the works.... unexpected, for me anyway. Any word on Sheets' health and how on the radar that could even be after today?

and to further support the fact that fans came out during that run and the 2003 attendance was all the more impressive -- home games during that span were devoid of any sort of legit gameday atmosphere. Short of the occasional middling music act, there was nowhere NEAR the "scene" we have today... this is one thing I'll give this AD ample credit for. The atmosphere in the bowl years was NOTHING compared to what we have now, and we still outdrew the debut season of Dodge, with all the fanfare, tailgating, atmosphere, and SLC curiosity. I'd say the crowd comes out for winning teams here... if we could just put the two together..

Compared to other universities with like situations, they ARE behind the program. That's the point of the debate. Given the history, facility, tradition, affiliations, and other issues NT lives with, our fanbase has done a more than acceptable job supporting this thing the past few years.

But that would imply that TCU had intelligent PR people in their ear, right?

Wait, am I bringing the knife by debating poorly, or are the Cowboys bringing the knife by playing Romo? In seriousness, I agree the Boys could get an ever lovin' haul by trading Romo, but that doesn't change the fact this is a QB's league, and we have a guy who, for all his faults, is probably a top ten guy. I know he's not perfect, he's not Manning, he's not Brady (though he's better than Brady this year)... but I've been through too many Carters, Hensons, and Hutchinsons to take him for granted. Basically I'm nowhere near confident we could get anything better or close to it, and even loading up in other areas, I want the big QB under center. There's a REASON we could load up by trading him- QBs are GOLD in this league. Few wouldn't trade for Romo straight up. This year alone, during a year we were supposed to commit to running the ball, he's 7th in yards, 10th in TDs, and he's all the way down at 21st in INTs. He's been one of the most efficient QBs in the league, and even with his December troubles, he has had top 10-12 stats every year he's played. I have little faith we could do better. I know the team has come up short, but I believe there are bigger problems to address. A defense, for one, that seems to inevitably collapse at the worst time. An inconsistent running game with no sure thing and not enough big plays. Constant chaos over the past few years in special teams. An offensive line that makes way too many mental mistakes. A WR corps that doesn't have a consistent playmaker and drops too many balls. I'd address all of these before touching Romo. The WHOLE THING has collapsed in December, not just him. He sure as hell didn't collapse today. Just my opinion, of course.

How about a defense that folded like origami in Tokyo with 3 mins. left in the first half up 10, or who gave up a 74 yard TD to A TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY POUND MAN!!!!!! Maybe a kicker who is Knottworthy, or a secondary who knows where Steve Smith is on the field at any point. How about a RB who gains barely 2 yards a carry and fumbles at the worst possible time for the second game in three weeks? Maybe an overall running game with absolutely zero ability to gain yards all day? That's right - 23 carries for 45 yards. Meanwhile, 41 completions for 392 yards. You can blame a lot of things today, but give Tony an ever lovin' break. If he plays like this every week, get him a freakin' condo at the Bellagio.

A college football board for a team that is 5-31 over the last 3 years that isn't full of bitching is mentally challenged. Does anyone honestly think that anyone who posts on this board of misery will ROOT for losses at the start of next season? Really?

Without wading through all the feces, I'll just say that i was rooting as hard against the Horns as anyone, but to look for conspiracy in that game is borderline insanity. Texas outgained Nebraska at almost double the yardage, and the Huskers still had to WORK to Dodge the game away by kicking out of bounds, giving up a big play to the WR everyone knows the ball is going to, and committing an obvious and stupid penalty. Colt throws it out of bounds, and even me with my very slanted opinion just waited for the ball to be reset with one second it was so obvious. Bad clock management by the silver fox, but obviously a second left. Then, Texas has the anti-Knott... a good clutch kicker. Like it or not, they earned it. Not saying TCU or Cincy or Boise wouldn't take them. But this was no conspiracy. I'm more concerned how we're gonna win the f'n Belt next year myself.

Just seemed like an odd call from the same coach who admitted in the media he gave up after 3 series in another game. Why try so desperately than you're burning a year of eligibility for a kid in one game and give up after three series in another?
