  1. Totally. He's up to about 30 years of devotion at this point.
  2. More people listen to bible verse t-shirt guy at Carroll & 380.
  3. There is no more failed argument than the ol' bare cupboard. Honestly, I'm shocked it actually came up again, considering how thoroughly disproven that's been. Maybe I shouldn't be, though.
  4. and the most important stat of all..... 54 rushes, 15 passes. Period..... Thanks, injuries!
  5. The injuries (or a philosophical coaching awakening) finally forced us to RUN.... THE.... BALL. Good things happen when this thing runs the ball. Very, very good things.
  6. Cristobal took over a dismal, winless Strock team and started seeing significant improvement in year one. We should expect the same next year. Also, they'll probably be 0-4 in OOC, but will still be a huge threat in the Belt. They'll be in every game.
  7. Normally yes, lest you get a bad reputation, leave kids that committed to you out in the cold, and damage reputations with high school coaches. Todd Dodge, however, did not.
  8. So many hidden gems I can't stand it. This is why we lift all them weights.
  9. Whats your problem with Vito? A little too much honesty coupled with the reality of this football program? Maybe the Cowboys just need psychoanalysis. Think the Bears would give them a mulligan because Witten was banged up? (too obvious?)
  10. I think we just discovered the root of the problem.... so FIX THE PROBLEM!!!! www.exlax.com
  11. You ain't seen nothin' yet.... #whiteface #talkieshumor
  12. Wait.... what? Seriously?
  13. How do you identify said donors and purchase the appropriate tickets that take you away from them?? Sounds like an elaborate and top secret process!
  14. Would still be disappointed, and would be utterly mystified at how the new coach refuses to use our one legitimate star player in any functional manner. That said, wouldn't be calling for firings or declaring this a pathetically failed hire. That's the difference between a coach with 3 games of ineptitude under his belt vs. one with 3+ years.* *Look, I actually legitimately responded to this thread!!! I'm so sorry....
  15. now THIS i fully support. Run the ball 50 times!
  16. Decade long scavenger hunt? Surely you're talking about starting AFTER the four straight championships, bowl games, and coach of the year awards, right?? And yeah... those photos were taken under a pathetic athletic administration which didn't allow tailgating or any semblance of game day experience... not to mention dismal facilities, no hope for a new stadium, no new AC, nada. It was a disaster, arguably the worst FBS facilities and game day experience in the country. Do you honestly think that during the run of championships people were "not supporting coaches" by not showing up??? Really??? Don't you think that that same team in this new insanely improved environment would be setting attendance records as we had home games to clinch bowl bids and blow out lesser foes?? The crowds would be insane (by our standards), no matter who is coaching. The difference in crowd level because someone is either "supporting" or "protesting" a coach is insignificant.
  17. First, I thought Emmitt's "8 wins" was a good little bit he was pulling on us. Then, I was convinced TFLF was pulling the "message board Andy Kaufman" bit of our generation, staying in this crazy character for months while privately giggling at everyone at night, outsmarting all of us with every post. Now, I'm hoping... nay, PRAYING... that grad88 is topping it all. THIS. CAN. NOT. BE. REAL. If it is, it's time to save money, go to FCS, and maybe get a coach in here from good Christian Hardin-Simmons for 80k and sign him to a lifetime contract. We save a ton of money for the university, get some REAL integrity in here, and all have a great time every week! Think of the power we could save by turning off the scoreboard!!!
  18. Nope. It shows that many people are supporting the University of North Texas and/or like tailgating and the new and improved game day atmosphere. It's in SPITE of the terrible football team and stunningly inept coach. No one I know is hoping for the team to start winning so this "great man of integrity" can start his own "personal turn-around"... they want the team to start winning so UNT starts stinkin' winning. Period. I could care less what "personal" effect this has on Football Trilli.
  19. Possibly. I like Wazzu's chances as well.
  20. So F it then... let's just all go to Six Flags on Saturday!
  21. I'll be gentle, because i have a feeling you're going to get it pretty badly on this one, but..... we've had more than our share of off the field issues, scandal, and embarrassment with this staff. Coaches on the verge of fighting fans, curious transfers and players leaving the program, drug scandals with national coverage, allegations of racism (no matter how ridiculous), issues with player theft, questions of nepotism as the redshirt coaches' son got the majority of snaps in practice, revoking offered scholarships promised by the previous staff (an ethical embarrassment), and a staff less accessible to its fan base (GMG Bowl, anyone?). That's the tip of the proverbial iceberg, even.... I won't even go into the questionable timing and handling of redshirt burning. Is this appreciably worse than most programs? Eh, probably not... debatable, for sure... but the point is, this crap about Dodge being a paragon of virtue and such an untouchable "class act" is weak at best."Everywhere he goes, he is liked and respected"... really?!? I wonder if that flies on the campus of Abilene Cooper High School. Hell, we could get Pastor Pete to coach this thing, ya know... he'd be virtuous. Probably couldn't even do any worse. As for the school spirit and pride, how are you quantifying this?!? And even if that's the case, I'd say it's pretty clearly in SPITE of the joke of a football program, wouldn't you?? We actually have TAILGATING now. We have exciting new facilities, a fun gameday atmosphere. I'd say that has a hell of a lot more to do with any surge in football related spirit than the worst coach in FBS football does.
  22. Emmitt.... HE KNOWS YOU'RE BLACK!!!! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!! #stormfront-a-comin
  23. While I have nothing but respect for Coach Fry, beating an exceptionally mediocre 5 loss Tennessee team (that wouldn't win more than 7 games for the next SIX SEASONS) is by no means the high water mark and standard for the history of NT football. Great moment? Sure... but not the "standard" we should aspire to. I'd argue that if you're not seduced by the logo on the helmets, it's not Top 5. The fact remains that double standards on display here simply don't hold up to any form of scrutiny... and that's okay. We're allowed to like some coaches and not others for personal reasons. And Fry "always will be" your standard of ultimate success at NT? I hope not. I would think he would hope not as well.
  24. I have little to no interest in standing on the sidelines during practice. That was one of many points in my post, simply pointing out that the LONE "positive" people attribute to Football Trilli isn't even really that positive. The previous staff was more accessible and fan friendly, and this staff has had just as many or more off the field issues - despite the perception. And you really think that the nationally covered drug scandal was a positive?? Boy, I recall some irate and embarrassed people at the university along with a barrage of comments and e-mails from friends and family who heard about it. I can't imagine a circumstance in which a drug scandal is good for a college football team, but I suppose defending Dodge's tenure in these times calls for desperate arguments.
  25. This offense has looked shockingly similar to Dodge's... if I didn't know better, I'd assume nothing has changed. Shotgun draws in short yardage? A continual ignoring of Dunbar? Same stuff, different year. The worst run in the modern era of NT football continues.
